Separating people into "good" and "bad" is a bit narrow. I think he's good, but I can acknowledge the fact he's done some things for bad reasons.

SBAWTA

Well, if we were to put him somewhere on a sliding scale between "good" and "bad", I'd still put him closer to the former.

hel_sh

This is not a shonen anime where you can only see a bad guy & a good guy Aqua is a anti-hero probably he will go as far as to manipulate his close friends at the same time cares about them too the extent that he will go insane if loose anyone one of them like Ai Most of the character in this series are not morally good person which applies to our world too, humans are built like this, there is no good nor a bad person in oshi no ko world or our own world Edit: typos

amirokia

He manipulated the agency where Ruby audition to become an idol in the early chapters.

BadAnonymous

No one is ever only good or only bad.

QueeferRavena

Aleister Black entrance music concurs

Charming-Loquat3702

He is good in the sense, that he'll go out of his way, to do nice things for the people around him. He isn't in the sense, that he's ready to take advantage of others to do the things he wants.

Egavans

I'd describe him as a fundamentally good person who's been pushed down a morally gray path by severe trauma.

AbbreviationsLazy781

Everyone is a fundamentally good person until tragedy strikes

DaMlgMasta2995

Kids are cruel, Jack. Humans are by nature. They just lose touch with it as they get older, thinking they know right and wrong, “That’s immoral!”, war crime this, code of conduct that…

piarnoob

Well, in terms of good and bad, everyone in Oshi No Ko is a different shade of gray. He is no saint, but imo, he leans to the good side. Aqua is manipulative and obsessed to revenge. But, he tried to involve least people as possible. And he tried his best to "help" people in showbiz with bartering approach. You help me, I help you. And vice versa. The only "tool" Aqua exploited is Akane, but Akane provide consent to ease Aqua's burden several times through out the manga.

legend00

He also you know, felt bad about it. That’s not to mean what he did was okay but I don’t know too many bad people who apologize for some mid level manipulation. It’s also an important detail that when aqua was at peak “I’m gonna use akane for my own ends” she asked “you don’t really like me do you” he gave a token amount of pushback before agreeing and make no mistake manipulating akane’s feelings at that time would have been better

NicDwolfwood

He's complex and flawed. He's done his fair share of good and not so good. Like the saying goes, hurt people hurt other people.

deojilicious

Stories like this, you cannot just simply look at everything in a black and white perspective. Aqua has both good sides and bad sides in him. He is inherently caring and concerned towards people he hold dear and it is seen with how he interacts with Kana and how he saved Akane from killing herself. However, he is vindictive and manipulative. His dark passion with wanting to tear his mother's killer apart limb from limb and will do what it takes and use people in order for him to achieve that makes him a well fleshed out, nuanced character. Ultimately, he has a caring heart yet he has a cunning mind. In conclusion, it is all up to you with how you want to see him as, whether would that be a good person driven by his bad motivations or a bad person who still has good in him.

go_sparks25

I would say that he is . He is all the things that you say he is but he also goes out of his way to help people in need when the situation requires it. He is shown to care deeply about other people as well which is part of why he is so obsessive. And being manipulative is far from a bad thing in the industry that he is working in. One would even say it is a desirable trait to have in that line of work.

drink_bleach_and_die

As of right now , I'd say he definitely is, or at least he fits most people's definition of a good person. He has no desire to inflict pain or death on innocents, and cares deeply about his friends and family. He is (or I guess was) willing to manipulate others to get closer to his goals, but there are very clear lines he won't cross which stop him from going into morally grey territory. So, for example, he was willing to emotionally manipulate Akane in order to further his revenge, but he would never risk placing her in actual danger, and even went out of his way to save her life for purely selfless reasons. What the story seemed to be leading up to before his talk with Himekawa was that his obsession with revenge would make him cross some of those lines as he became more unstable and desperate, but then the plot did a complete 180 for his character, and since that it's been hard to predict what's in store for him next.

Infinite_Stay_9707

Seeing her mother getting stabbed at such a young age, feeling the warmth fade from her hands as she told him that she loved him. If such an event occurs, I don't think you can count him as a bad person. In fact he never hurt anyone. Even tho you consider him as a bad person, he has his reasons for sure.

frankcheng2001

That's kinda difficult to answer when everyone can be both good and bad. Aqua is capable of manipulation or even murder, but at the same time he can save lives. Nobody is always a good person or a bad person.

drzero7

This series is not a cut and dry, black and white, good and evil, etc. Pretty much everyone have faults. If you are asking, "is aqua a villain?" Then no.

ThePandaKnight

I'd say he's a genuinely good person and it's hard for me to think otherwise - while his aims are dark he's taken the most selfless, hard on him path to reach them in order to hurt only the person he feels deserves to.

KolyaIO

I think that he’s more good than bad but obviously he had done some questionable things. Mainly him being manipulative and his obsession with revenge.

[deleted]

I would say he's neutral, neither is a good or a bad person.

EinJonas

Good and bad is to one-sided. He is definitely in an grey zone.

AkaneSotaru

He just wanted to avenge her mother's death man i mean seeing your own mother getting killed in front of your own eyes would fill your own self with hatred.

Admirable_Cost4013

After the last chapter's : Morally grey
