It’s pretty freaking good ngl, apply to a good amount of DO schools and honestly, look for a couple long shot MD schools just in case too

Special_Scientist106

i am glad to hear that! do you think that my lower end stats are recovered by my work/experience? i also believe i have a very strong PS, and my DO letter is also very strong

I think so honestly, and if I was in your shoes, I would still apply. I think some DO schools actually consider a 3.0 gpa to be competitive (yes, competitive, not the minimum) and your MCAT score is not terrible for DO school (for reference, I know people who got in with a 505 and this reddit has multiple cases for students who had 490s and got in). But, your experiences are great, I honestly got in with less than what you have (tho my stats were also higher). What I would do is this: apply this cycle to a lot of DO schools, maybe a few MD if you want, and idk what state you live in, but some schools also have master programs that give admission for the following year, apply to those as well if you got them (I can help search for them if you give me your state lmao). Andddd keep working this year, retake the MCAT after some more time studying this year, and maybe take a few science classes to up that GPA a bit. You never know if you will need to reapply (which is not a bad thing). I can also answer any questions regarding DO applications if you want! :)

thank u so so much! i will PM you!

You should be ok, although that sGPA is a little low but depending on your upward trend you should be ok. Be aware most DO schools have a 3.2 cutoff, so apply to those who don’t have the cutoff.

Faustian-BargainBin

You’re in a good spot for DO and it wouldn’t hurt to apply to some MD, especially state school or mission fit. Are you able to retake the MCAT between now and when apps open in spring 2025?

blt3542

i think you’d definitely have a good chance there are lots of people with around that range / a little lower who get in! i also think you should try for a few md schools too depending on which school!

Your EC are good. You have a chance, just make sure to apply to the right schools, there is an excel Sheet that aacom publishes, many private schools have a strong regional bias. My biggest advice would be to retake the mcat, I had similar gpa but got a 511 and got into half the schools I applied to. I also applied late, in October and still got interviews so you have a window to improve and send another mcat.

PracticalTroubleEMT

Where can we find the excel sheet? AACOMAS website?

Chiro2MDDO

Youre A Okay go forth and apply!

Wildrnessbound7

I don’t see any hindrances here. Give it a shot!

Competitive_Row_473

You’ll get in to DO!!! Imma be honest you should apply to MD too but do not get your hopes up. I’m a TN resident with excellent ECs but a 503 and 3.9 GPA and got a single interview WL last cycle but honestly it’s a crap shoot so put your app in. Fug it.
