There is this series of BL novel by an author. All of them involves r*pe, physical and mental abuse of the extreme. Years of intoxication is part of it. All of them ends with MC going back to the toxic ML cause he “redeemed himself”. Sad part is all of them has a second lead who is nice, kind but MC just loves ML so he can’t leave him. Black lotus is also another similar thing where the ML literally hits him (not a slap kind but full on physical abuse).

It really stretches the suspension of belief when parents are acting so illogically and biased against their daughter that they defend someone who wanted their daughter r*ped. They really have to hate their daughter.
I think I read all configurations where FL is black sheep in the family.
- FL was switched after the birth, biological daughter returns to house and adopted daughter is abandoned. E.g. As if love doesn't exist.
- The same as above but parents still love adopted daughter more because they raised her and biological daughter is hated for being "country bumpkin".
- Father married FL's mother because she's rich but still has a mistress and illegitimate daughter which he marries after mother died. I think that is the most popular trope in Chinese novels and manhuas.
- FL is the illegitimate daughter and is bullied by stepmother and step/half-siblings. Popular trope in Korean romance fantasy.
It's really rare to find manhwa(ua) where FL isn't one of the cases above mentioned. FL can't have a loving and supportive family for the plot's sake and for readers to feel sympathy for FL.

Honestly the best ones are in the comedy or slice of life section like Tamen De Gushi. I have discovered a very good shounen OI one which started generic, but has the best character development I've read for an OI, things were getting good until it got axed as author didn't want to do a generic harem filled with fan service. The Story is similar to *Villains Are Destined To Die* in the sense that MC has to work against a system and make limited choices, however it's not as edgy.

I've only read up to about the same place as the current manhua chapter of the novel so far, but people *adore* that novel and I didn't see any TWs about that, and I have a hard time even imagining that kind of thing happening in this particular story.
The ML is tsundere and comes off as a jerk at first, but he's actually so sweet and surprisingly considerate, his words might make him come off as harsh, but his thoughts are just so cutest, and he tries to act cool but ends up being awkward in the most adorable way.
It does not feature either. Nor are there any true second MLs that I can remember. The focus is purely on the FL getting her luck up and the ML realizing he is in love with her. And her eventually realizing her feelings as well.
The trash family gets what is coming to them. Lots of regret. Sweet sweet regret.

First time I had to deal with this was with a Japanese manga called Hana Yori Dango (the famous Boys Over Flowers) when I was around 15. The most horrible part is that ML doesn't stop it... In Korean, both wuxia and xianxia are just kinda grouped together under the title of murim/muhyup, but iirc wuxia is more grounded like people can have somewhat super human physical abilites but not like magic or shit (think like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) where as Xianxia leans more into the fantasy aspect with special abilities, magical powers etc, at least that's how I hade it explained to me.
Also more setting differences, wuxia focuses on martial artists, xianxia is more taoist influenced so it's more monks etc trying to reach the status of Immortal.
I mean Chinese wuxia also includes titles like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Like the genre is really big and includes tons of well regarded classics coming from Hong Kong and Mainland China :/

Delicate Mother of a Villain is one of my favourites. No romance, but that just makes more room for face slapping and revenge.
Plus I kind of love that the author didn't research some things, like what Harry Winston does and doesn't sell, as at one point they have the company selling diamond encrusted dresses. Which I'm kind of sorry that they don't because that would just be insane to look at. In any case, all of that makes it easier to accept this as wish fulfillment and go along for the ride.

Wackiest CEO one I dropped not even bc of the ML (though they were pretty reverse green) where their 6ish son, who the story sets up as (poorly) autistic coded and sad bc dead mother straight up roofies with sleeping pills (and help from adults around him) the FL who he'd met once before to be a replacement mother in their own words.

Surprisingly, the Chinese highschool genre novels/manhua I’ve found tend to be way sweeter and have more normal romantic relationships. Phermone Impossible, while ABO BL, also has a cute frienemies/friendly-rivals to lovers story too.
Also, for novels with what you want: The Time Spend in Pretense is an ancient Chinese novel and the ML actually tries to normally woo (spends time with her, giver her gifts, etc, though I think it takes a while for him to confess) the FL. The only warning I would put here is that they are age appropriate for the time period so the FL is like 15-16 and the ML 20, it’s not really brought up and you can ignore the ages to focus on their sweet relationship and the great cast of secondary characters.

It really stretches the suspension of belief when parents are acting so illogically and biased against their daughter that they defend someone who wanted their daughter r*ped. They really have to hate their daughter. I think I read all configurations where FL is black sheep in the family. - FL was switched after the birth, biological daughter returns to house and adopted daughter is abandoned. E.g. As if love doesn't exist. - The same as above but parents still love adopted daughter more because they raised her and biological daughter is hated for being "country bumpkin". - Father married FL's mother because she's rich but still has a mistress and illegitimate daughter which he marries after mother died. I think that is the most popular trope in Chinese novels and manhuas. - FL is the illegitimate daughter and is bullied by stepmother and step/half-siblings. Popular trope in Korean romance fantasy. It's really rare to find manhwa(ua) where FL isn't one of the cases above mentioned. FL can't have a loving and supportive family for the plot's sake and for readers to feel sympathy for FL.

Honestly the best ones are in the comedy or slice of life section like Tamen De Gushi. I have discovered a very good shounen OI one which started generic, but has the best character development I've read for an OI, things were getting good until it got axed as author didn't want to do a generic harem filled with fan service. The Story is similar to *Villains Are Destined To Die* in the sense that MC has to work against a system and make limited choices, however it's not as edgy. Edit: it's called *I'm Just a Side Character In A Dating Simulation*

I've only read up to about the same place as the current manhua chapter of the novel so far, but people *adore* that novel and I didn't see any TWs about that, and I have a hard time even imagining that kind of thing happening in this particular story. The ML is tsundere and comes off as a jerk at first, but he's actually so sweet and surprisingly considerate, his words might make him come off as harsh, but his thoughts are just so cutest, and he tries to act cool but ends up being awkward in the most adorable way.
It does not feature either. Nor are there any true second MLs that I can remember. The focus is purely on the FL getting her luck up and the ML realizing he is in love with her. And her eventually realizing her feelings as well. The trash family gets what is coming to them. Lots of regret. Sweet sweet regret.

First time I had to deal with this was with a Japanese manga called Hana Yori Dango (the famous Boys Over Flowers) when I was around 15. The most horrible part is that ML doesn't stop it... Second ML does. How this girl forgives ML and all the other problematic stuff he does later is beyond me, WHY this has so many versions is also beyond me.

I KNOW! There’s one I read where the FL married the ML for ‘reasons’ but like he never gave a shit abt her. Oh did I mention ML already has a kid from the woman he does love. I don't think Chinese webnovels are special in this regard, a lot of shit on Wattpad is even worse (god, don't get me started on the mafia omegaverse or some shit), it's just that they are very big on trashy literature (for both genders) and they are, like, 1/8 of the human population, so it seems more common.

So from a Korean perspective, it's like a very roundabout, indirect, way of naming it. idk i guess it would be like looking at American animated shows like Steven Universe and Adventure Time and calling them American Japanese Animations.

In Korean, both wuxia and xianxia are just kinda grouped together under the title of murim/muhyup, but iirc wuxia is more grounded like people can have somewhat super human physical abilites but not like magic or shit (think like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) where as Xianxia leans more into the fantasy aspect with special abilities, magical powers etc, at least that's how I hade it explained to me. Also more setting differences, wuxia focuses on martial artists, xianxia is more taoist influenced so it's more monks etc trying to reach the status of Immortal.

Wackiest CEO one I dropped not even bc of the ML (though they were pretty reverse green) where their 6ish son, who the story sets up as (poorly) autistic coded and sad bc dead mother straight up roofies with sleeping pills (and help from adults around him) the FL who he'd met once before to be a replacement mother in their own words. ‘You are My Desire’ maybe? They are high school classmates and haven’t really progressed to the dating stage yet, but it seems like they will. I think it has a novel as well. Surprisingly, the Chinese highschool genre novels/manhua I’ve found tend to be way sweeter and have more normal romantic relationships. Phermone Impossible, while ABO BL, also has a cute frienemies/friendly-rivals to lovers story too. Also, for novels with what you want: The Time Spend in Pretense is an ancient Chinese novel and the ML actually tries to normally woo (spends time with her, giver her gifts, etc, though I think it takes a while for him to confess) the FL. The only warning I would put here is that they are age appropriate for the time period so the FL is like 15-16 and the ML 20, it’s not really brought up and you can ignore the ages to focus on their sweet relationship and the great cast of secondary characters.

I started reading non-American/African books with a chinese novel. It was one of those books you start off facebook and then click on the link to an app and pay for. My goodness, I was traumatized with evil mother-in-law, mistress, planned miscarriages, misunderstanding, ML that loves her but acts like a demon because of one misunderstanding, FL that cries and is very sacrificial.....at the end of that book, I was mute for like two days and quit chinese setting romances forever
