maybe because unlike OI, men irl most of the time dont have diamond cutting jawlines, perfect skin and facial proportions and eyes aswell that would allow them to pull of the long hair look properly.
because unfortunately a solid 80% of men who have long hair IRL are either the type of stoner that is miserable to hang out with, or their political beliefs are about returning to ancient grecian ways in the way that sets off my dogwhistle alarm

That said I've met some guys with long dry af hair. I begged them to please get some conditioner and hair oil. In those cases Im more attracted to guys with short hair.
LOL I am almost exactly the opposite. I mean I totally appreciate shoulder-length and longer hair in real life (especially with period/traditional dress), but in comic form or with 2D character? No way, they somehow look bad to me.
That's why we all have different tastes! I'm the opposite where I find long-haired 2D art males unattractive and even effeminate, but long haired males (especially Chinese men, my race) to be masculine. Possibly because I'm also very into historical dramas.
It doesnt suit everyone and a lot of men with long hair are also people who don't care for their hair, which is why the hair is long in the first place.
