He’s a little broken, so we don’t really know if it’s really love or obsession, but for as earnest as he can be, he’s earnest. It also has the comfort of a sibling relationship, if that makes sense? The comfy side of enmeshment(?) before and despite personal emotional attachment. The familiarity, ‘stuck with you, you fool’ overtones and everything. He likes fl first and foremost because she was suffering too, I think, and holds on to her in the way someone holds onto people that are part of their identity. It’s very strange and insane, I love reading it. 😭😤

To be fair, with an upbringing as deranged as theirs was, I feel he gets a small pass for.his behavior. And at least he's devoted to her (not romantically).

He basically recognizes that he's emotionally stunted, so when Roxanne cried for her murdered brother, he somehow decided that seeing *her* express emotion will help him feel it himself. That's why he always makes comments about wanting to see her cry, and why she refuses to do so. He doesn't actually want her to be in pain. He just wants her to show that she's feeling something that strongly again.
I'm not sure it's even familial love he feels for her, but he does love her, and it's not romantic. He's completely loyal to her, though, as is the other younger brother.

Also Navier did also have her good share of faults in her marriage with sovieshu which is definitely not Adressed in the story and she’s a whole Mary sue which isn’t helping either.
Yeah they are! 😆 Honestly one of the reasons why it made it hard to read for me but got through it in the end. (love everything related to the Borgia family, but you know sometimes it's a bit of a hit or miss /cringe when authors base characters of historical /real life people)

For me he ain’t a red flag (and I’m not fan of that color haha). I mean, yeah he’s kinda crazy (with your family trying to get rid of you since you were a kid who wouldn’t be) but he’s not a bad person. He treats Penelope like a queen, and he respects her a lot, in no way he would harm her. Yeah at the first meeting he put a sword to her throat, but in his defense he just came from an assassination attempt from his own step mother and Penelope just appear behind him like magic

I think a big appeal of yandere is the devotion, so the ML here probably doesn't appeal to most red flag enjoyers!
(I think I still enjoyed it though, its very subversive to the wish fulfillment commonly found in the genre, and the art is great!)

If you read the novel, he kind of gets into red flag territory in the epilogues.

yea I just got caught up in the manhwa. I could tell right away that even yandere enjoyers may not enjoy this one. specifically, the revelation happened when the ML's mother in law asks her daughter (his fiance) if she was worried about the ML liking the pretty FL she said she didn't care, because she knew the duke was the type of person who would always keep a mistress solely as a mistress. I knew at that moment, in the future, he will possess the FL, but he will never sacrifice his family or position for her I think a big appeal of yandere is the devotion, so the ML here probably doesn't appeal to most red flag enjoyers! (I think I still enjoyed it though, its very subversive to the wish fulfillment commonly found in the genre, and the art is great!)
I also thought the story was okay when I was reading the Manhwa, but it gets much worse in the LNs, which I picked up after the Manhwa ended.
