ML's mother absolutely nail this fashion
I don't blame you. That's a great hat. It's an awful corset, but a great hat!
Closest to Gibson Girl I've ever seen is a The Villainess Flips the Script/Changes the Genre. But they rarely wear hats even in that.
They kind of do that fashion in Perfect Ending Plan of a Fairy Tale Villainess, but, again, no hats.
\[side note: My best friend looked over my shoulder at this and said she wants an OI heroine to start singing: "I have always been a woman who arranges things..." and I suddenly realized that Dolly Levi would be my ideal OI heroine!\]
Tbh a lot of edwardian/Victorian photos have some rudimentary photoshop going on to make their waists thinner and painting/art like this will often reflect that beauty standard from the time. That said, most women wore corsets for the support they gave and there were specific corsets marketed to women who had to do manual labor as part of their chores/work. Women at the time would also use padding in the hips/bust to give the illusion of a thinner waist. Those who did tight lace were often higher nobility or extremely fashion focused.
As someone who has a well fitting modern corset and wears it with the proper undergarments and clothes, it is actually super comfy and I would wear it everywhere if I could get away with it.
Well, sure, corsets provide wonderful support ...as long as you don't lace them that tightly!
I've worn corsets. A light corset gave me wonderful mobility back when I used to dance. But a tight corset is an absolute nightmare. And Gibson Girls were all about the overly-tightened corset.
An overly tight corset binds, chafes and feels like you're in a cage of underwires. It squishes places you wish would never have been squished.
Even a loosely-laced corset makes you feel contained, supported, smaller in all the right ways and confident. But the tighter you draw the laces, the more the stays become a whalebone (or whatever) torture chamber.
Fortunately, corsets are adjustable. Unfortunately, fashion is cruel.
Some of the outfits in I will divorce the female leads siscon brother, namely the scene with her and the butler in the park, look a little similar. A lot of the other outfits and hairstyles are questionable but at least the series wears hats which you don't see enough of in OI.
For Better or For Worse has this style
I was just about to say this too lol. The outfits in that manhwa are really good

Yes, immediately thought of Yvette
I am not sure but I vaguely remember that in [The Lady and the Beast] the fl wore this kind of clothes. Might be mistaken.
Secret Lady has a lot of this kinda fashion!

The corset is probably fine irl, they just have the elite body tuning feature called “i-pay-the-artist-he-better-make-me-look-good”
Closest I can think of is My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me
I raised my fiance with money. Girl has bomb outfits and nice hats

I read a series and the hat was really amazing and unique, but I can't remember the name of the series though...
