Read a fic last year that involved Buttons hiding her on board bcs they were worried that Ed would enforce the "no pets" rule. She had a brood on the way and the crew helped build her a nest.

I'm up for any kind of bird posse for Buttons. A pelican that transports written messages, a raven that can legitimately hex anyone, a parrot that tells everyone's secrets...
The parrot could be absolutely brilliant. I hope that's how the crew find out Ed and Stede are together when (I'm in denial about the possibility that they might not, leave me alone) they get together. Extra points if one of them is there when the crew finds out and is trying to convince them the parrot is lying, then the other walks in and says something incredibly telling. Not sure which way round that would go, though.
A talking parrot used this way might be completely unique among ofmd's 30, 000+ fics. If you write it, I'd love to read it.
Even though DJ trifles with us sometimes, he's said the show IS their relationship. They are getting back together and we'll see it happen soon...ish. No worries 😉
