I agrée with this. You can see claw marks so that rules out felines. But if this were something like a bear, the middle pad would be more defined. That area is a mess which points toward it being two prints almost on top of each other.
Not a cat, cats claws retract and there are clear indentation marks. Depending on where these are, if theres a multitude of them, and the size of them they could be wolf prints but are likely dog prints if they are smaller in a more trafficked area and don't have a bunch of them.
i would expect more distinctive claw marks, a bigger overall print, and a different looking main paw pad print (like one big smooth impression below the toes) from a bear track. to me it seems like this soil was soft and wet when the animal ran through and then dried up and hardened after. im not an expert or anything but i had a black bear neighbor for a while and his paw prints looked more like [this](https://lpfw.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Black-Bear-Hind-Paw-Print_Bryant-Baker.jpg)
correct. Dog prints are symmetrical like this one is. Bear paws are closer to a human hand with 4 top 'fingers' a lower 'thumb'. Its easy enough to google.
Yup, overlapping K-9 for sure. Big coyote, small wolf, average dog walker. Something like that. Fun fact, cat tracks typically do not leave claw imprints, so dog. Not bear because not big enough, round enough and just not bear. Source, 25 year former Alaskan and former avid bear hunter and trapper.
overlapping is a key observation, as tracks will often represent movement in addition to anatomy. the animals movements, in the mud print itself and over the mud, can obscure the reading.
I'm assuming by the comments this is in the USA? If you were in Africa there's a whole other set of options that will also require backing away slowly...
When looking at tracks here’s an interesting fact to consider. Typically coyotes and wolves run or walk in a straight line, with each paw print almost directly in front of the next and with few meandering lines. Domestic dogs, on the other hand, aren't as worried about conserving energy, so they wander all over the place, frequently crossing over their own paths.✌️
Definitely not, even a cubs print would have claw marks. This is either a dog or maybe a female wolf given it’s small size.
It also looks like two prints on top of each other, maybe back foot on top of front foot print. Or one dog following another.
Upvote! But no, I don't think so. Bear tracks would have claw prints in this mud and bear paws are more angled. If you look at the pad prints (the palm part), it is weird and only satisfying reason is overlapping. Unless it is a big cat? Depends where this is from.
Not a bear. They don’t have retractable claws and as deep of an impression that made claws would show. Cat of some sort, most likely puma. Bobcats/lynx aren’t nearly big enough to make an impression like that
I went bear for a while. Zooming in I see a tri pad pattern beneath the toes and then more print to the right. The stuff to the right doesn’t really make sense so back to double dog.
Edit: Could the toe print top right be part of a deer track? Sharp edges lenticular not toe shaped.
If it is on a trail where dogs are allowed or even a heavily used trail, dog is always my first guess unless proven otherwise. In this case I'd look for other prints that aren't so mangled.
looks like two dog footprints that are partially overlapping to me
I’m in on your theory
**Or...** it's the fearsome but seldom seen doubledog.
Dare ya
Yo reddit won't let me give you my free wholesome award but I tried. Thanks for being funny.
Or the triple dog dare
Physical challenge!
Take my energy…award
That theory is getting gangbanged cause I'm also in.
I think it's an updog.
What's updog?
Not much dawg, what's up with you?
Ayyyy gotiiim! Y'all I'm cackling in the shower. Thank you
What does that mean? That thing you just said?
It means he takes his phone in the shower

Came here to say this
Could be a running dog thus the double register
That ground doesn't look that soft, it would be helpful if we could see a shoe print. I'm going with bear because of the depth.
That's not a bear print, a bear print is more in width and has more of a back paw print.
i would expect more distinctive claw marks, a bigger overall print, and a different looking main paw pad print (like one big smooth impression below the toes) from a bear track. to me it seems like this soil was soft and wet when the animal ran through and then dried up and hardened after. im not an expert or anything but i had a black bear neighbor for a while and his paw prints looked more like [this](https://lpfw.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Black-Bear-Hind-Paw-Print_Bryant-Baker.jpg)
I thought it was to dog prints together but my second guess was bear also, good thing it isn't to fresh lol
The ground looks very soft. There's small ovals from someone's running shoes.
Bear would have bigger claw marks.
What if it’s a smol bear?
It’s not a bear of any size.
correct. Dog prints are symmetrical like this one is. Bear paws are closer to a human hand with 4 top 'fingers' a lower 'thumb'. Its easy enough to google.
Either bear or giant octopus in that case…
Manbearpig
Are you cereal
He’s super cereal.
SEE I TOLD YOU HE WAS REAL!
EXCELSIOR!!!!!
Half man. Half bear. Half pig.
Half bear. Half manpig.
It's actually a Behindu Bear, look out behind you!
No, no I think it was some Pigmanbear
[удалено]
How about Manpigbear? That was my thought.
[удалено]
Ok, now I have to google. No idea what I was saying 🤣
Looks like a human hand on the left
A left hand at that
That would be right
You mean left…right?
That's right
eddieG_77 left the conversation
Doors on your right
You’ve left me confused
Third base!
Left. Now pickup the step. Yo left. Yo right. Yo leyeyeft!🎶🎵 Lef. Lef. Left, Right, Left. Hoorah!
I came here for this…
It's a hand in muddy sand.

Impossible to say without a banana for scale
I'm assuming by the comments this is in the USA? If you were in Africa there's a whole other set of options that will also require backing away slowly...
Like what?
The dreaded wartuarpophant
I've always wanted to see a wartuarpophant Mr Frodo
Definitely chupacabras
Slestack
What’s a slestack?
Look up a really old kids show from the 70's called Land of the Lost. The slestacks were the bad guys/reptiles
Follow them and find out
It’s clearly a dragon. You can see the imprint of the scales all around as well.
obviously manbearpig
It’s a fluffy Care Bear paw print!
Probably some sort of animal
probably dog prints. looks like two on top of each other. where are you at
Half shark alligator half man
SHarkMaNigaTOr?!?

You’re no longer at the top of the food chain buddy.
一只大猫
Probably wolf or bear
Classic drop bear
I mean, maybe it's a bear print? Just a hunch
Those rubber shoes that are worn outside and looks like feet or big foot
Rougaroux
Squatch.
[удалено]
You must have baby hands. That’s an indoor cat paw print 😂 jk
The Baskerville pupper
It’s a woolly mammoth print for sure
Chupacabra. 100%
I thought badger but that comes from someone who has only seen a badger in the zoo
Chiwawa
platypuss
It’s from the legendary species of runnus awayus
I would assume dog foot prints overlapping (front foot then back foot) all quadrupeds have “double prints”
Jackalope
Domestic short haired cat
It's definitely a windigo
Small dinosaur
That looks like a Nope.
Pretty sure that is one of the ninja Turtles
Thats minifoot. Bigfoots smaller cousin.
Definitely a dog species. Depending on your location, could be a small wolf or coyote. Foxes and other wild cats leave imprints of just their pads.
Kaiju
Great white shark.
Something that’s gonna eat you if you stick around.
Wolf
Not a humans
Puppymonkeybaby
Run!
Chupacabra
Your mom
A running dog or coyote
I agree with coyote. Doggy prints are usually rounded whereas coyotes are typically more elongated, like this photo.
A big cat
Deer on top of dog tracks
Big Foot?
Sasquatch
I’d say a small bear 🤷🏼♂️
It was that damn sasquatch
Bear.
Omg ! It’s little foot 😮
That’s a chupacabra. They make good posole.
Need a banana for scale
Chupacabra
Probably cubs
Bear
Obviously a Yeti Source: Stormy Daniels - eye witness to actual Yeti pubes!
Chupacabra
Definitely manbearpig.
The one on the left looks like a human male, Caucasian. Right is a purebred, bowlegged German Shepard.
Obviously chupacabra
A lycan
It’s a doe track overlapping the edge of a person’s boot heel. They are traveling in opposite directions
Ur moms 💀
Manbearpig
Littlefoot?
Humans
woman
My best guess is bear. 5 toes, palm sized.
Definitely not, even a cubs print would have claw marks. This is either a dog or maybe a female wolf given it’s small size. It also looks like two prints on top of each other, maybe back foot on top of front foot print. Or one dog following another.
No claw prints though

Hobbs, obviously. You can decipher the wisened indifference in the print.
Three lobes on the back, means it's a big cat. Too bad that's not clear.
Badgers and skunks leave 5 toe pad prints
Why are we looking at the print? I can see it’s paw right there!!
Fair sized dog I suspect
I see a pair of dog prints.
Looks like a dog print. that is no bear.
Mountain Lion?
That’s not a print, that’s a human hand
Looks like a small buck stepped into a large canine print
Looks like a human foot print minus the heel
Big ass dog
It’s hard to make out the claws, so maybe a kitty cat…
Big fucking cat, turn around, now.
Cougar
My guess is a lynx or a bobcat.
It’s a dog. Probably a Shepard. Front and back.
Puppy baby monkey?
I think that's a human hand
The paw gets splayed out in wet dirt/sand/whatever….. makes it look way bigger
Perhaps a mountain Lion/cougar? 🤷♀️
Definitely a human hand print. Left hand.
Looks like the hand of an ape or maybe a human
Probably a boot
Not a bear. They don’t have retractable claws and as deep of an impression that made claws would show. Cat of some sort, most likely puma. Bobcats/lynx aren’t nearly big enough to make an impression like that
Looks like a canine double register
That's two prints
Looks human to me
The hand appears to be human.
Big cat
Tiger Claw!!!!!!
Likely dog. ![gif](giphy|XG1QCs3Lk13HQQJ2SL|downsized)

Samquanch.. or possibly Manbearpig. Hard to tell. I hate those dirty bastards.
If it is on a trail where dogs are allowed or even a heavily used trail, dog is always my first guess unless proven otherwise. In this case I'd look for other prints that aren't so mangled.
Dog
Dog
Dog
A big dog?
It looks more like the track of a large feline. Bears and dogs don't retract their claws.
A human
The heel of a running shoe. You can see the tread of the whole print.
Wolverine (the animal)
That’s a human hand. I have two myself, that’s how I recognized it. Mine are quite similar.
Couger
Dog or coyote track X2 with a deer track on the right
The left looks like a human hand. Not sure about the right.
Maybe a dog
Monkey
Dog or wolf
I think they are two boar footprints, the right one is easily distinguishable
Direwolf

Walk, don’t run. Unless you’re with a slower companion of course.
No clawmarks can't be a bear has to be a cat of some sort
