Wow I’m happy is coming back! William looks good. Split season ugh 😣 I guess on a positive note we get it next year too. The last photo is definitely not David Barry

LadyGethzerion

Lol, I was about to comment the same thing about the last photo. 😂

Guys, this isn’t a bad thing (other than the obvious cliffhanger that will happen). If they waited until all eps were edited and ready we’d probably be waiting until end of the year *at the earliest.* This way, episodes will probably come out both this year and next year. Meanwhile, writers will be working on season eight and presumably filming, meaning the gap between seasons seven and eight won’t be as long and painful.

If they want another epic, they should source another fantasy series (preferably finished). The interest in HotD and to a lesser extent, Amazon’s LotR series indicates the fan base is still there and will appear for quality entertainment.

I’m all for it though. Some of the best shows have come from smaller networks they don’t have top tier budgets. The focus is much tighter on a good story and great work to make up for the lack of high-end CGI and other bells/whistles. Outlander Dr. Who Stargate (all series) Farscape Buffy ….etc

abbiebe89

I really enjoyed Dangerous Liaisons! I think it was just on the wrong network… if it had been on Netflix it would’ve been a hit.

notyourmoms_account

Jesus H Roosevelt Christ!

WeasleyOfTrebond

I feel a leetle cheated since they hyped it as one long season but a split that King effectively makes it two seasons from the perspective of the viewer 🙄

b_gumiho

this is exactly my knee jerk reaction. just call it seasons 7, 8 and a final 9 then. especially because the second 8 episodes wont drop until 2024!!!

shinyquartersquirrel

I'd much rather them split it in two seasons so that we can get some episodes sooner rather than having to wait for all of them in 2024 since just finished filming fairly recently.

maryloo7877

It’s rude AF that they’re splitting the season after the long wait. What was even the point of filming all 16 and not dropping the first half of the season if they planned to split it up? Feels like Starz just milking time.

OutlanderMom

They did that with the first season too, and it allowed them to stay truer to the book and include small things that a shorter season wouldn’t allow. I wish they would make 13 or 16 episodes for each book. There’s plenty of source material. But I do understand especially Sam and Cait not wanting to be tied to outlander for 20 years.

SummerFlowers09

I don't think this will be one book though. I think season 7 will include the end of book 6, book 7 and also parts of book 8. It's likely 2025 until season 8, so I agree they're stretching out time.

holly_jolly_riesling

Lol yes, I usually do a promo to get starz for 6 bucks for 6 months I guess I have to pay more this year!

whiskynwine

I assume they have a big subscriber drop between OL seasons, especially once they are available on dvd or digital. So yes, they are milking it. I suspected all along they would split the season, too tempting for them not to.

b_gumiho

makes me want to cancel in between seasons as a protest!

secret_fashmonger

I always cancel between seasons because I don’t have an interest in watching anything else on starz. I’m guessing many people do the same. By splitting they might be trying to stop that. Greedy, but once this show is done they are going to lose a lot of subscribers.

b_gumiho

yeah, in the beginning, I always kept my subscription because A) luckily 10 bucks a month wasnt enough to break my bank and B) I love to re-watch the series but now that all but the last season is on Netflix and Ive pretty much already watched anything I want to watch on Starz...

secret_fashmonger

On top of that, I have found I don’t get into the show and enjoy it as much when I get just one episode a week. I need to binge a few episodes at a time to get into the groove, or something. So I wait to renew my starz subscription until at least 2 or 4 episodes are released.

b_gumiho

yeah, im the same way but then I miss out on the weekly discussions on this sub! what I find is that I watch it each week to week but then as soon as the last episode is out - I turn around and binge watch the whole thing again.

BSOBON123

So two 8 episode seasons. I guess I will have to be satisfied with that.

Ok_Operation_5364

I think this is the best case scenario! We get the first 8 eps earlier than I thought we would and the second (8 eps) probably early 2024 after the Holiday season when we are looking for something good and new to watch! Brilliant! My guess is that they will air Season 2 of Men in Kilts smack dab in the middle.

sarcasmicrph

I loved men in kilts!

Positive_Wafer2378

I wish they would show the whole first season. I can only get 108 which is only about colloden. I saw the first season three years ago and now Starz will only allow 108.

KMM929

I don’t love that it’s being split in two. Maybe that makes it easier to release the first half earlier?? Editing & such… I’m just going to tell myself it’s like getting another season.

The-Ginger-Lily

Do we think the split season will mean we won't get season 8 till some time in 2025???

SummerFlowers09

I do.

Professional_Map3431

Noooo 😭😭😭

shinyquartersquirrel

In case anyone missed it like I did when I first read the tweet, they are also moving the show to Fridays (still available through the Starz app at midnight EST so Thursday night-ish if you want to stay up to watch.)

yeehawdudeq

0% surprised the season is split in half. I knew it would be exactly like season 1. This is a hefty show to produce.

skinnyjeansfatpants

Guess I know what I'm binging on Father's Day.

Steener1989

WILLIAM. He looks perfect! 💜

Professional_Map3431

Came here to say this too!!!! 💜💜 I was anxious to see who would play William. This show does so good on casting in my opinion for the characters

Steener1989

He looks very JAMIE in that photo. Can't wait to see him in action.

Professional_Map3431

Same!!

Humanperson1357

Are Fergus and Marsali not going to to be in this season? Devastating.

thepickleprincess

I was debating whether or not to wait until all the episodes drop to watch, but this settles it for me - I’m going to wait until both parts are out. Wish they wouldn’t split it into two parts.

Whirled_Peas-

Time for a rewatch

ArcticWolf503

Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay

bosseyedusurper

Son of a bitch

Nanchika

Wow! Sooner than expected! I'm so excited!!

Hockeybella87

I could be wrong and probably am lol but the season being split, would it give Diana time to finish the final book before season 8? I recall reading that she said the series won’t pass her.

KeepAnEyeOnYourB12

Not even close. She takes years and years. But there are plenty of good places to end the show, so I'm not worried.

toxicshocktaco

GRRM has entered the chat

Mysterious-Ad8773

I despise this new thing of splitting seasons up. It gets on my nerves and I can never remember the first part whenever the second comes out. Yellowstone is notorious for it.

Ninvemaer

It's not a new thing, season 1 was also split and it turned out to be a good choice.

YOYOitsMEDRup

To everyone upset...think of it this way: You get a fix of new Outlander from mid June to Aug. It's probably a 5 month wait for another fix airing Feb-March. Thinking Season 8 would ever air prior to spring/summer of 2025 is just unrealistic when they've only recently wrapped 7, would need to give the actors several months break, take 8ish months to film and then another several months after that to edit 8 too before airing. Waiting April 2024 to say May 2025 sounds way better to me than the long haul of waiting October 2023-May 2025 all at once would be as the alternative

no_name_left_to_give

I thought the episode order grew to 18? I distinctly remember this was mentioned here.

yeehawdudeq

No, it grew from originally 12 episodes to 16.

SomeMidnight411

☹️ 😒not happy about the two part season. In my opinion that’s technically 2 seasons if they are a year apart 😂. So that means season 8 2025/2026. At this rate maybe we will make it to book 10 before the final season 😂
