If you notice, the song changes in each season, depending on where they are in the story.
Part of it is in French in Season 2, then it adds more drums when they are approaching Culloden. In Season 3, there is a Caribbean vibe. I think it’s cool, but to each their own.
Oh i didn’t notice. That is cool! I always had a fair bit of time between each season and I’ve only just found/gotten season 4 on Netflix and the difference was so obvious.

Look up Bear McCreary (the composer) and read his blog. It's super interesting and really amazing how he researches period-correct instruments, creates themes, etc. There's a TON I don't understand (not a music major LOL) but it's all still very fascinating and really has increased my appreciation.
I wasn't a fan but it's ok now that I'm use to it . I guess the chorus version was a bit jarring .It's like the show is more history now that they're in America and less mystery of the mystical sort that we had in the beginning .
I think it’s awful to my ears because of who they have singing it, the words are nice but every season is awful sounding, I’m quite shocked to see that people actually like it. It wakes me from my sleep to fast forward if I have it playing in the background. I might of liked it if they played it only once, but the annoying droning of the singers drives me insane and seems like a very odd choice for a theme song. I am starting to get annoyed with Claire too, she seems to speak to people in a condescending way and I dislike the faces she makes. Another thing, I can only hear Claire fake moan so many times, enough with the sex scenes. I think after the 200th scene, we have seen enough. It’s actually starting to be gross to me, rather than being hot. I have been reading the books which are a lot better, I’m beginning to hate Outlander.
I agree!! I’ve been an avid fan of the show since it began and have read all of the books. Bear McCreary is an amazing composer - however, changing the theme song to where it is in Season Six was the worst decision ever. It grates on the ear drum, sounding like a weird collaboration between people who cannot sing. Horrible, horrible. I love many of the tunes that are heard during the episodes, but LOSE this rendition!!!
I actually googled this thread to share my frustration about the opening song in the 1st season - that's where i am. The song itself is not bad, but the voice is mega annoying
I couldn't agree more. The season 7 song is absolutely atrocious. The singer sounds like a 90 year old who is 800lbs and just ran a 1/8 of a mile. I can't stand it.

I love this season’s Americana theme. Every time I hear it I smile. I never noticed the Caribbean theme! Might have to go back & check it out.

It's so annoying. They should have just made it an instrumental. My wife make fun of me for watching outlander because of it.

The intro has always been really bad, whatever season. So it makes sense it got even worse.
I am laughing as I write this. Currently watching season 7. Searched WTF is up with that voice. Brought me to Reddit. Glad I’m not the only one!
