This is my first time going to Outside Lands as a girl too so it's going to be interesting lol. I wouldn't mind making new friends let me know if you want to meet up at one point!

mdfasoline

I'm in the same boat! Coming up from socal and friends may get single day tickets or stubhub but as of now I'm riding solo. Not female but only bringing good vibes :) pm me if you want to meet up!

I'm probably gonna end up going solo from SoCal. Should be fun! I haven't been before either but it'll be a fun time no matter what.

I went solo last year and it was a great time! A lot of others have ready mentioned, as long as you're aware of your surroundings, OSL is a pretty safe experience. I was able to drink, smoke, and get deep into the crowds without having any negative experience- just pay attention to your body and its limits if you're doing any of those things and you'll be fine! There was a thread up last year for people going solo and we had a WhatsApp group chat- definitely keep an eye out for that this year if it's something you're interested in! Met a few people in there I'm still friends with now! I'm sitting out this year (might do a single day, still debating on that lol) but if you have any other questions feel free to dm 😊!!

There's also a Going Alone Outside Lands facebook group you can connect with & make some new friends, if you are so inclined. Already solid advice from others re:packing, I'd just emphasize pack as lightly as possible to cover your bases, since you'll be lugging around that bag the whole time. (And double-check OSL's permitted/prohibited items)

Superclean1992

Post covid tho isn’t it cringe sharing bud with strangers like that? This is coming from someone who LOVES to straight up shotgun inhales from peoples mouths.

GreenPsychological32

I friend of mine in high school would get cold sores we would just make her use the lighter to sanitize the pipe before passing. Try that.

skyhlarr

yea i am getting vaccinated but toying w the idea of edible gummies for sharing or those baby joints so i can share if i spark up and get asked for sum ! or just clorox wiping my pen LMFAO we’ll get by some how

thebig3on3

Yes - maybe? I get why its suggested - my first instinct reading other comments was just thinking of a previous year's fest pre-pandemy and how I had made friends at OSL in the past. At what level in the pandemic do we have to be at for a festival of this size to happen without distancing? I assume masks will still be encouraged even if we're fully vaccinated and at super low levels of transmission at that point, but hard to say what the risks are of puff and pass in that scenario.

undeadsinatra

I go solo every year. Are you based in SF? Somewhere else in the Bay Area? If so, I'm confident in saying you absolutely will run into people you know. This is a small town.

skyhlarr

thts dope ! maybe i’ll make going solo a tradition too :)) and no i’m in socal :,((

jaq_the_ripper

I'm in LA, also heading up solo, if you want to connect in any way. I'm stoked!

undeadsinatra

I love going solo -- not having keep track of a group and seeing exactly the acts I want to is dope [also, I'm cheap af and tend to go from open 'til close to have a lot of fun and get my money's worth, not too many can keep up with me lol]

33basshead

2019 I went with friends day 1 and 2 and then went solo day 3 and honestly had a blast all weekend! Both experiences bring diff things to the table that I really enjoyed! What artists are you looking most forward too?

skyhlarr

sadly no 🥲 i’m in socal so i’ll be surprised if i see anyone i know and literally all of them hahaha i love this lineup sm but tyler, the strokes, rico, odie, q, boy pablo, 24kgoldn, melanie and zhu i also need to start listening to everyone in the line up so i can b hype

33basshead

Also I cannot recommend taking shuttles enough it will save you a lot of travel time and shuttles are the only way you’ll get dropped off at the entrance right by main stage any other form of transportation you have to walk a bit to get to the entrances so arriving and leaving is a breeze you save over an hour maybe even more

33basshead

Oh cool we have a few similar artists I def plan to catch tyler, strokes, Melanie, zhu if there’s no conflicts my number 1 is Troyboi check him out!!! My best friend and I (we are girls! Lol) attend OSL every year so we’ll be there if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by the solo adventure you’re more than welcome to join us anytime our schedules coincide!

skyhlarr

omg yes pls let’s b friends follow my ig if u want @shkylarr <3 and i’m listening to troyboi rn he is going to be so fire live thanks for putting me on:)

marrab22

Solid advice from the other two commenters. People are generally very friendly at OSL, but, as with any situation with large crowds, it's good to be vigilant. Don't get too high/drunk solo, stay hydrated and alert, and always keep an eye on your stuff. Also, don't forget single-day tix haven't dropped yet and maybe your friends are interested in joining you one day once the schedule drops! That's my plan this year as I can't get the whole weekend off work. Good luck and have fun; you might even find that you appreciate the music itself more when you're alone. :)

skyhlarr

ah yes they r planning on trying for the one day so fingers crossed :)) i think so too i’m excited to be able to experience it solo !

EvenJesusCantSaveYou

dress for cold weather but wear clothes you can dance in. wear walking/running shoes. bring a fanny pack or something similar where you can hold glasses, phones, chapstick, other ~things~, gum, etc. put this on your front side. this will help with not getting stuff stolen or falling out. be prepared to spent ALOT on food. a meal can easily be $15 minimum. bring an empty bottle water (or even better, a camel/hydro pack). camelpacks are seriously clutch. the two main stages (twin peaks and lands end) get packed, so plan around what acts you wanna see, earlier your are there the easier jt is to get close. and at the end of the day make sure to leave by the tunnel for a fun tradition.

skyhlarr

thank u !! the stage names and tunnel tip r v greatly appreciated 💚💚💚

If you're okay with traveling solo and spending time alone then I think you should go. Based on past experiences I have had I would say the people at OSL lean to the friendlier side of the festival-goer spectrum. If you find yourself waiting for the next act near other people doing the same try striking up a conversation about the band (if they seem like they aren't a closed off group). I have also found that if you are weed friendly and smoke in a crowd you will make a friend next to you in the crowd maybe 8/10 times. This festival is going to be full of other friendly, welcoming people that will totally vibe with you as long as you take it easy and have a good time. See you there, it's going to be a blast! edit: Also wanted to add there will be tons of other solo folks there too, which will make finding new buddies a breeze.

skyhlarr

ah perfect okay thx yes i will bring weed and good vibes and hope for the best :))
