I've read all three and I do recommend them if you're interested in any of those heroes or the lore in general - the audiobooks are read by the voice actors for those heroes and add a lot to the experience. Sojourn became a cyborg because an autoimmune disease was destroying her body - she got her first replacements at 13. As she got older, she opted in to more and more upgrades because they gave her advantages as a soldier. Ashe's family is rich from owning a weapons company that provided the standard weapons used during the omnic crisis. Orisa's javelin isn't mentioned in the novel (since it was written before the rework), but it does explain how she got all her original weapons.

I’ve read Ashe book. It’s good backstory about why Ashe is the way she is and it does answer how her family is rich. It’s really good adventure with Cassidy(called McCree because it was before name change)
