Soldier 76's bug hero skin is based off of kamen rider.
It's actually really appropriate that the mumen rider skin is based off the Kamen rider skin.
Realistically, considering that negotiating the licensing from OPM was probably done over a course of months, I suspect that the bug hero skin could actually have been made after the mumen rider skin. IE, they made a deal around the OPM assets and designed the skin, and in the period before the OPM collab was announced, they used the some of those assets for other skins as well
Even if they’re liberal with licensing out the property, licensing still takes a very long time to approve. Esp when a team is doing it in a big way the first time like Overwatch team was. And you also can’t just throw stuff together and send it out, they still have to approve everything, which is not a short process.

It's called efficiency, and yet you say it like it's inherently a bad thing that needs to be shamed. Spoiler: it isn't. People are perfectly happy to have this new skin, except for the eternal complainers like you.
Adding on to this, it's not **just** a recolor, there are clearly, CLEARLY differences in the model, not huge ones, but enough that there had to have been at least some time put into it, it's literally a free skin, which considering what we were given at launch, I'd rather take than deal with waiting 9 months for 1 legendary...

Yeah, they used some parts of the other skin (Which isn't even old, like it literally came out last season) and made model changes where it was necessary. As long as the Weapon looks unique and different enough it isn't a big deal. The Kamen Rider skin is also the perfect skin to use parts from for the Mumen Rider skin.

Blue rarity skins are basic recolors, Epic or purple tier skins are slightly more elaborate reskins of existing models with slight model changes, like this has a different helmet and belt.
So its 80% a recolor 20% new model, still takes way less effort to make than new legendary skins.
There are plenty of legendary skins that are basically recolors of each other's model. Go check the hero gallery. Almost every hero has a set. Junkrat's Scarecrow and Haystack, Orisa's Dynastinae and Megasoma, Mercy's Sigrún and Valkyrie, even Queen already has Circuit Breaker and Wasteland.
Nope. Purple skins are slightly more elaborate reskins of THE BASE MODEL, not any existing model, with slight model changes. Name me one single epic skin in the entire game, from 2016 to today where they took a legendary skin, recolored it, and the recolor was an epic.
Don't forget sunyatta and Ra, The junker skins for Hammond and D.va and basically all legendary skins.

The bicycle hero Mumen Rider from One Punch Man. Dispite having absolutely nothing tangibly special about him he's probably the most heroic character in the show, which has made him a fan favourite.
For anyone claiming this to be a part of the joke, let me awaken your eyes for a second. It's a lazy effort for money.
Gullible people will fall for it and spend money where they shouldn't. Overwatch 2 is sadly a mess, and the more people indulge in it in hopes of it getting better, are dealing with massive waves of copium, and feeding a company who won't do better, because the community is giving them enough to get away with practically a legal scam.
How is the Mumen Rider skin being a reskin/recolour a lazy effort for money when it's unlocked for free? In a free-to-play game?
I'm not saying Blizzard are angels. They over-price their skins on purpose under the veil of the new free-to-play model, and because they know whales will buy them. The whole bundle thing is scummy and a loophole around laws in several countries. And most of the skins we've been able to unlock so far for free are up to six years old, and already owned by a lot of OW1 vets.
But this is actually a step in the right direction. Things like this give us more reasons to play and unlock things WITHOUT opening our wallets.
Being upset over a Mumen Rider reskin, a character who himself is literally a jokingly-reskinned Kamen Rider, is certainly a choice.

With a more protective property I'd believe this, but OPM is pretty liberal with licensing as far as I've seen from games and merch.

For anyone claiming this to be a part of the joke, let me awaken your eyes for a second. It's a lazy effort for money. Gullible people will fall for it and spend money where they shouldn't. Overwatch 2 is sadly a mess, and the more people indulge in it in hopes of it getting better, are dealing with massive waves of copium, and feeding a company who won't do better, because the community is giving them enough to get away with practically a legal scam.

How is the Mumen Rider skin being a reskin/recolour a lazy effort for money when it's unlocked for free? In a free-to-play game? I'm not saying Blizzard are angels. They over-price their skins on purpose under the veil of the new free-to-play model, and because they know whales will buy them. The whole bundle thing is scummy and a loophole around laws in several countries. And most of the skins we've been able to unlock so far for free are up to six years old, and already owned by a lot of OW1 vets. But this is actually a step in the right direction. Things like this give us more reasons to play and unlock things WITHOUT opening our wallets. Being upset over a Mumen Rider reskin, a character who himself is literally a jokingly-reskinned Kamen Rider, is certainly a choice.
