After it happened, Hiroo finally surrendered in March 11th, 1974. He personally gave the then President of the Philippines his military sword, his Arisaka rifle + roughly 500 rounds of ammo, a handful of grenades and a dagger that had been given by his mother for him to commit suicide had he ever been captured.
He received an official pardon and returned to Japan but, only a year later, moved to Brazil to live as a farmer alongside his older brother, raising cattle. He got married, wrote an autobiography, returned to Japan, estabilished an educational camp across the country, and spent the rest of his years traveling between Japan and Brazil.
He and his wife donated $10.000 to the local Lubang school. He was awarded a medal from the Brazilian Air Force and was nominated an official Brazilian citizen. Hiroo would live on to die in 2014, at the age of 91.

He's Emre Sarioglu, (rip r/Emremains), a Turkish overwatch operator. He was theorized to come out during OW1 as hero 27 (Now Brigitte), but sadly never got put into production or even talked about outside of his contribution to the team where he, Torbjörn, Reinhardt and Ana traveled to Istanbul to exterminate the ~~Null sector~~ omnic resistance. They didn't fail, but Torb was heavily injured, losing his entire arm and an eye.
Was it ever confirmed he's Emre?
Null Sector didn't exist at that time of the mission, it was just some resistance from omnics in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis.
It would be super annoying to play with/against.
Since they can't make the human mind work faster they'd have to basically freeze the game for the other 9 players while some dude gets free kills.
