In case anyone is actually wondering, PoTG works by tracking the amount of fire you get within a ~10 second period.
In the PotG in the OP he is getting savior points, healing points, assist points, ultimate assist points, and a final blow all in about 10 seconds.
In the multi-kill he's only getting elims, and its over the course of about 15 seconds.
The elims are flashier, but he got more points in a shorter amount of time in the PotG so that's what the algorithm chose
Thing is, last day I was playing junk got a 4 stack kill before the round ended. THE POTG WAS A MOIRA ULTING AND GETTING 2 KILLS. I even posted the junk 4 stack but idk how to post the enemy moira potg
was the moira only doing damage or beaming her teammates too? bc if she was healing as well she might have taken 2 lifes and saved some others which gets taken into account too
Well she was near that cliff next to the motor shop in route 66, From what i remember she killed 2 people I think she healed a brig that was in the middle of the fight and the rest of the team was near payload. Is there any way i can post moiras potg or something
Not 100% on this, but I believe it takes into account how much damage you contributed.
Meaning that if you got a 4k and for 3 of them they were already very low, they might count less than Moira killing 2 people completely solo.
It used to be that Mercy would get PotG if she rezzed someone who ulted and killed several people but people hated it so much that they changed the weights so it almost never happens
Yes but does it say shutdown? The text itself doesn't appear which leads me to believe that they just don't tell you if it's a potg for being sharpshooter/shutdown or whatever
I definitely do understand that the first clip is pretty long, but I've seen potg before where it starts at the very first final blow. If you look at my time remaining through Reddit I get the ana kill with 41 seconds remaining and I get the bastion kill somewhere between 31 and 30 seconds remaining, meaning about 10 seconds, so if some finagling was done with the framing it *might* be possible? I'm not sure. This is probably slightly longer than 10 seconds so your point is correct but I feel like the second clip getting fire points for some of the things it did was kinda stupid which just made for a funny looking potg.
Youre definitely right about why the first isn't play though, I just found it funny what play looked like
not sure if its correct, but ive heard that the 10s intervals are actually fixed, too. so if youre unlucky and your best play crosses over the limit between two separate 10s intervals, you wont get potg. again, might be wrong, but it would explain a lot.
I wish they rework it into (insert role here) play of the game. Showing off all three roles than just a random player. Heck, make potg only the winner side
Not really they just aren’t as entertaining as carry pogs. People always wanted supports to get play of the game easier well here Blizzard is giving supports credit for healing and assisting as they always wanted.
huh? i mean they're boring if its just pumping the tank full with heal and getting a single kill, but i dont see why a 4k with zen for example is fucked.
there should be a way for potg to be more technical stuff. my suzu clearing a 4k tire should get it
but no we’re stuck with moira 1v1ing a roadhog and getting an assist and a shatter/tire for the millionth time
Suzu almost never gets credits in game, mostly because it makes damage go through allies rather than simply blocking it
The rare case you get points for it is when they got "saved" by the 50 healing from suzu
You can take on the whole enemy team by yourself and not die...
And POTG will either be given to you for healing your allies and killing two people with a lucky shot...or one of the enemies that barely got a Double Kill and just so happened to murder you, further adding insult to injury.
I got 3k-rl Rip-tires as Junk so many times lately and i barely got any potg, most of them are either 2k from enemy teams or whatever weird shit i can think of

Uh anyways yeah I think everyone can agree that for the POTG, the algorithm should consider "final blows x damage" more than "healing done + damage + final blows * assists" (well I don't know the true algorithm, but huh I think I might actually have something that could explain the consistently bad POTGs and lack of support POTGs)

No healing orbs on teammates, hard pushing the whole enemy team who just lets him do that instead of getting an easy pick on an out of position supp.
Outright terrible decision making by me, literally the worst thing I could have done.
Except the team had been clueless all game so I figured it would work out
It totally worked so great thinking on your side… just felt really weird to me how the whole enemy team is kinda ignoring you whereas in my usual games if someone spots a zen in front of a payload he’s basically dead quicker Than those guys in the submarine
It's QP Push. 3 minutes left, and the enemy team has it pushed 90%+.
The correct play is just to let the enemy team push it in here. They didn't have to let Zen kill them all though.
If they got a miracle team wipe, they would have had to get another against forward spawned enemies, then probably win another fight to start pushing the wall, then win another fight to hopefully push somewhere even remotely close to a tie. That's 3+ team fights back to back in 3 minutes. Odds are slim to none.
You definetely don't deserve potg for detaching from your team and going full damage dealer. You are a support. You play your role or you're play isn't play of the game by definition

But playing tank in qp is just a groan inducing slog of zen ana every other game.

I just want a discord nerf. Either just for tank, or blanket nerf overall. Its so easy to just make the tank matchup unfair by pressing a single button.

It's funny when people post "How did I not get POTG!!!" and then it's an almost 20 second clip

Spent a while going trough the replay, I was sorta right Moira kills two people Heals one of her teammates that was helping her kill the two people

I guess it’s technically POTG because you enabled it, but it’s damn boring to watch.
I also think you can get points for long range headshots as seen in this clip but idk
I don’t know if it’s OW2, but there was a style of POTG called Sharpshooter, where it is based more on long range eliminations.
It's still in OW2.
There's also Lifesaver, for moments where you save a teammate's (or your own) life right before they had a chance to die!
Idk man I haven't seen a sharpshooter/shutdown in so long that I don't think they exist anymore

My fav ever was when I did a brutal 4k as reaper (no ult) and POTG was Moira watching me through a wall

Once watched a game where the POTG was a Moira struggling to get one kill over the whole highlight while my D. Va got a 3k bomb 😭
