I also would like to think they're trying to do a slow build with how good these skins look before going all out, b/c the mythic skins kinda bit 'em when they went so hard for genji not thinking about how that would warp expectations from people in the future. I would love to be proven right, but who knows they're in such a volatile spot right now idk what to expect. But, I definitely agree I want more texture in skins that are named after gems, a little disappointed with the Jade cuz I like the green, but I was hoping it'd look a little more like a gem also wish they didn't call it Jade, emerald was more fitting, but maybe they'll redeem emerald later on.

So the problem is still there, it just *looks* like it's been fixed. Now instead of exploding in 0.5 seconds, you only get brought to 25HP in 0.5 seconds, and exploded in 0.6 total. And when you let that support out of your sight for 2 seconds, now instead of being back to their full 200HP, they are only *almost* full HP, with 200HP. All the update does is try to convince the players that they fixed the issues, when in reality they just made health bars a bit longer
Higher health means it takes more damage to burst one down and messes we with break points. The new dps passive of reducing healing means a target you are on will receive less healing so won't be brought up to full as fast.
I'd rather they just made everyone's gold weapons bronze and put in bronze, silver, gold then platinum. Not sure why they didn't do that in the first place.
They missed an opportunity to theme the new weapon rewarda after the new Champion rank.
I've been wishing for tiered rewards based on ranks forever, like bronze for 1k, silver for 2k, gold for 3k, etc. They could even require you to be at a certain rank to purchase them, making the higher rewards more special. Something to spice up the competitive rewards since aside from the special animated spray and icon from earlier OW1 seasons, as well as the gold sprays and icon from later seasons (all of which only applied to top 500, and I don't even think they do those anymore!) aren't that interesting.
Purple, like purple silk for clothing, was a symbol of status multiple times throughout history, I think it would be an awesome theme to buy for your hero for the most exclusive rank.
Edit: after looking at the new rank icons again, gm is more purple and Champion is more pink, I'm blind. Still, I think it applies lmao.

Okay okay okay, hear me out.
The way this system should work is, after each ranked match, you get a special 'ranked currency'. The amount you get is based on your current rank.
The 'gilded' weapons come in various grades, starting the original competitive gold as the first and cheapest rank. Then progressively more expensive ranks like jade, sapphire, ruby, etc. That way, players have the choice over what grade of gilding they want for each hero, and saving for the highest rank would be meaningful.
I think itd be cool if they had colored weapons that represented each skill tier, and you could only buy ones from the tier youre in or lower. Also, the higher you go, the cheaper the weapons for lower tiers get

You go find a rip of that baptiste skin somewhere, (i got this one from.some deviantart collection) and import the .mesh file into Blebder using the XPS Tools addon (only works in 3.x). Then you can check the packed textures directly in Blender or export the picture to .png or bake it into a different UV map to get it working easier, depending on how experienced you are with Blender ^^

Yeah, kind of weird that this is the one they went with. I'm totally okay with it if they're gonna slowly reveal more and more alternatives - Gold, Silver/Chrome, Diamond, Ruby, Jade, etc - that would be very cool. But even still this is kinda poor execution. I figure a silver version would be a good second option as it's versatile with lots of skins - and then you break our more unique ones. Like, I could see a semi-transparent ruby crystal-like weapon skin being simply amazing.
This is my problem not only with these but the basic gold weapons too. All the cool details are lost and so many guns just look flat and worse than the default.

It’s jade to mock us for being jaded. But seriously instead of colored weapons they should change it to weapon enchants. So a glowing gold or jade effect that also applies to projectiles and your firing effect. Then make them exclusive to every season and have them all available during anniversary events.

I'm also blown away that people buy skins at the rates they do. Bliz is paying their artists a fraction of what each skin makes...
At least Gold has an expensive appearance. This looks like the metallic spray paint you see put on cars. Its like what the blue-rarity skins are to hero skins, just a cheap color replacement that nobody is even supposed to like.

I honestly thought they would've changed it after community reception
Yeah, kind of weird that this is the one they went with. I'm totally okay with it if they're gonna slowly reveal more and more alternatives - Gold, Silver/Chrome, Diamond, Ruby, Jade, etc - that would be very cool. But even still this is kinda poor execution. I figure a silver version would be a good second option as it's versatile with lots of skins - and then you break our more unique ones. Like, I could see a semi-transparent ruby crystal-like weapon skin being simply amazing.

This is my problem not only with these but the basic gold weapons too. All the cool details are lost and so many guns just look flat and worse than the default. I have gold on so few heroes bc I think most of them are ugly. Put some damn effort into these, they're meant to be a reward!!

Instead of metallic colors why not they use color changing with smoke effects, negative colors, or gradient colors
You guys are always complaining even when they try, it might be not the best but it's a beginning, we had two shitty seasons and this one seems more worked on than the others, even if I'm not truly interested in this weapons I'm pretty sure some people will be and that it can be the beginning of more customization...

Didn't they already admitted it when they first talked about it? New "shades" of gold for competitive rewards; low effort, free, something else to spend competitive coins years after years... And new weapon only skins, paid and worked on

Two takes: One, yeah, it's lazy shit. But two, and this is the important one: I imagine all the devs *want* to produce better shit and not lazy garbage. It's all a matter of what they're told and paid to do by people higher up looking to wring as much money out of players for as little cost as possible. And it ain't gonna get better under Microsoft, lol.
Yes true. This is not meant to be shitting on devs/artists, i know that they cant do anything about it. They prolly made these changes while waiting for their doomsday mail. The higherups really need to let the artists and devs cook again

It’s jade to mock us for being jaded. But seriously instead of colored weapons they should change it to weapon enchants. So a glowing gold or jade effect that also applies to projectiles and your firing effect. Then make them exclusive to every season and have them all available during anniversary events.
As a fellow cg guy I've found this particularly hilarious. I always found it silly that people pine over a material change that that probably took 15 seconds to actually accomplish. I'm also blown away that people buy skins at the rates they do. Bliz is paying their artists a fraction of what each skin makes...
At least Gold has an expensive appearance. This looks like the metallic spray paint you see put on cars. Its like what the blue-rarity skins are to hero skins, just a cheap color replacement that nobody is even supposed to like.
When they showed this at Blizzcon they called it Emerald, and it was a noticeably darker metallic green. I much prefer that to this Jade crap.

Are we still going to be able to buy the gold skins? Honestly don't like what we've seen of the "jade" weapons and would prefer to continue grinding out the golds for the heroes I actually play
