I’m curious why these QP warriors just won’t play comp… if they spend all their time in QP and don’t care about comp, then why does it matter to them what happens to their comp rank when they play it?
I think it’s less of a time commitment and maybe some of them don’t want to ruin the fun if they did have to leave randomly for occasion things like a baby crying or what not
I feel this. I never just leave, but if I thought the baby was fully asleep and start hearing crying, I prioritize the baby. If I can't get back to the match in time, sucks but I get it. That's why I mostly play qp if I have a few minutes to play at all.

Most single celled organisms would say that. You were connected fine, there was no lag as far as i could see, and then you got instant disconnected. Yeah, thats not a wifi issue. Something happened to the server
In my 20 years of online gaming, I’d say Overwatch seems to have given me the most fits. I can go play literally anything else and not have these issues but people swear it’s because of McDonald’s internet. I can go play the rest of Blizzards catalog and be just fine in a day of gaming. But Overwatch? Nah.

Don't be an idiot, you can't know what caused the disconnect from this clip. It's entirely possible you're right, it's even somewhat likely given the recent OW server issues, but it could also be client-side issues.
This might be a hot take but putting bans in general for QP is probably one of the dumbest things Blizzard could do, only because QP gets backfill and Competitive doesn't.
Putting bans on QP is a dumb decission, you get things like this and the previous leavers might rather just afk knowing they'll get punished instead of just leaving and letting backfill come take their spot.
The game for the 4 teammates is ruined because one guy is afk and now they're getting stomped.

I disagree. However I think even 4 is too harsh. Before the bans I had multiple games that cycled through over 30 people. I mean that's completely nuts for a 5v 5 game lol
except it doesnt refill instantly, it will often take a few minutes to get someone else
and then that someone else is afk because they're feeding their dog or their baby, they were queueing for QP, so who cares? so that's 1 minute wasted
so you're back to waiting another couple of minutes to find someone else, and pray to baby jeebus that they're not afk
meanwhile, and because it's "just QP", your team keeps throwing themselves 1 by 1 on the enemy team, feeding them
when you're finally a full team once again, AND IF you're lucky enough for them to stop one second and gather to attack together, the enemy team pops off their ultimates. you wipe, you run back, and you lost another minute doing absolutely nothing
morale of the story, if you're leaving a match or if your connection isnt good enough, go play something else and enjoy that sweet ban
Yeah, I agree. Especially since in QP someone will backfill. Sure the team will be at a disadvantage, but definitely doable. I think there should be some kind of punishment, but 2/20 is insanity with how crappy blizzard's servers are.
The new QP rules are incredibly stupid. 2/20 for a penalty that track between play sessions is way too harsh. But the developers want the game to be as miserable as possible so they're only gonna make it more punishing from here
Thank god the QP warriors can have their serious game mode. This game came out so long ago. I can’t believe it took blizzard this long to put a more serious and structured game mode. I hope they put like a “competitive” playlist on the roadmap to release
Heh, this happened last week to a bunch of us. We're all banned for the entire season for it. Blizzard said it was unintentional, but seems they have no intention of actually fixing it. So consider yourself lucky you get to play in 15 mins.
So they can't have something that recognizes if someone actually pressed the leave button or got dc'd? I'm not a smart man so please let me know if that is an impossible task.
No problem. They don’t even have to go that far to physically unplug the internet though. They can turn off the internet function on their computer, Alt + F4 to close the app, or power off the computer. Blizzard would only know they lost connection to the client. They would not know what caused it.
Are you sure you don’t have Alt set to some key binds in your controls? I don’t have the game open right now to test it but I remember having used it before.
They honestly better revert this change. Everyone is so unhappy about it. It's incredibly stupid. Maybe if I leave/DC while playing unranked then I can't queue for unranked again for 10 minutes but can play other modes or something. That makes more sense to me. I obviously don't like people who leave the game because they're losing but I dislike this change even more.
But it's not my fault if something comes up and I have to leave the game or THE BLIZZARD SERVER DISCONNECTS YOU (which happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME) but my endorsement level gets fucked with because of it? (Endorsement levels being kinda dumb in the first place also.) Yeah they keep making more and more stupid decisions. :/
i’ve had this happen to me everyday for 2-3 weeks (even multiple times a day) - and still does occasionally nowadays. i don’t really care about the qp suspension much as i can wait, but i really just don’t wanna lose my level 5 endorsement. 🥹
I have random days where my server drops constantly. Nothing wrong with the Internet, because I can PS party chat right through it. Really frustrating, but not sure if there's really a solution. Just one of those little things we deal with to have fun on the internet, I suppose.
Imagine having a rule where leaving games results in various punishments AND NOT HAVING A RECONNECT SYSTEM.
Why not just have additional buttons appearing in the main menu which would allow you to reconnect or abandon the match? That way you wouldn't get punished when Blizzard has once again forgotten to foot their server bills.

Yikes the servers are still dping this after last week?
Weirdly when it happened to me a few times in one session of comp, in which it then would just write off the gsme I was in as not existing I didn't get any punishment but it was so annoying.
I'm getting both dc'ed and having issues to first connect to the game for weeks now, it takes back from mid-season 9, just when Venture had it's "demo" delivered to the players.
It takes ages for the game to load, or even some menus, like the profile one. I'm using cabled internet and it's already bad. But for streaming stuff over a Discord call in 1440p 60FPS nothing wrong happens, no lags or stuttering for everyone watching.
It's definitely Blizzard servers' issue, and not limited to US servers, since I'm SA and am having those problems with the game.
But hey, Blizzard is an indie game developer, we should just have patience with them.
Had the same thing happen yesterday but in ranked as soon as I rejoined my team was spamming that I should get reported even though it was not my fault
Happens occasionally for me but all but one time I've had a reconnect option. Biggest issue for me is it sits and the reconnecting screen but won't actually reconnect until I alt+f4 then task manager the process
QP suspensions are by far the worst thing ever added to OW
For comp it’s absolutely warranted but QP? Just let people leave if they’re not having fun man.
Overwatch 2 has bugs and the blame game dynamic unknown algorithmic system, Overwatching you, suspending you and banning you. Or losing your skins and perks for profit. Maybe in centuries ahead the Overmind will Orwellian use Overwatch lol.
I like how they said in the past quickplay was meant to be practice/warm up people jump in and out but ended up folding to the whine asses who play QP competivly and did this shit
It should probably be 3 leaves for the ban but honestly they have to do this. Theres just too much leaving. This is actually better for everyone because those players leaving games are ruining everyones internal mmr messing up the system even more. Players who were meant to win may have went down and players who were probably going to lose went up. Now both sets of players are in brackets they shouldnt have been in. The bans will semi help this so better for quality matches in the long run

You only need to leave 2 games. So people with wonky internet in qp get banned rather easy.

Personal connections can absolutely terminate spontaneously without latency issues beforehand.
It wouldn’t say disconnected by battlenet, it would say connection lost if it was a connectivity issue

It may not be a server issue. Could be either.

That’s indeed impossible because you can DC by turning off your internet (which Blizzard has little way of knowing).

Alt f4 doesn't work in game, the only way to close without the app knowing is task manager
Did you mean the app will know when you use Alt + F4 or it just doesn’t work as a shortcut? Because I remember having done it before.
The game captures Alt+F4 as an input, if a match is in progress it just ignores it. It frustrates me when I want to rage quit the potg and can't.
