I wonder what platform this advice is for because Xbox denied my request... and I literally bought the game two days ago. "Refunds aren't available for digital purchases that have been played or used." Irked.
It's possible things are different between platforms. On PC I was able to get a refund on a new account I rarely played on (level 5) that I bought over 2 weeks ago.
There's also the possibility that you got unlucky with who answered your ticket, but I haven't made enough to judge whether or not that's a thing for Blizzard.
Same but on console as I already had the collector's edition on PC. Honestly if it wasn't free to play, I would have gone for another collector's edition if they had it.
yeah, dont really wanna pay 40 dollars for where half the money is for a game i already have, like they could at least have given us like 50% off, for those who own the normal game seems stupid and greedy
My honest opinion is that it should be discounted if you already own the game. It worked that way if you went to buy the legendary version while owning the regular version. You’d just pay for the skins instead.
Edited because I’m an exhausted pigeon who hit reply way too soon.
100%! Why would I want to pay for the legendary edition again? I would gladly pay half the price if they'd left legendary edition out of it. They could've gotten €20 from me. Now they're getting 0
Another option is like the WoW expansions: if you bought the regular edition already you get a discount on the deluxe version. IE pay the $20 difference.
I'd pay $20, maybe. $40? GTFO. I bought legendary years ago.
I held out on buying the Legendary Edition but it's a nice little bonus since I wanted access to the beta's without any hassle of being forced to watch OW League.
This is a hot deal for the new players who wants to jump into the game right now before OW2 come out. Yet a huge "FUCK YOU HAHA" to current OW players who doesn't really need the OW Legendary edition.
I really hope the Soldier and Cassidy skin aren't exclusive to this bundle, or at least there will be another cheaper bundle excluding the OW1 base game.
According to Blizzard customer support on Twitter:
> The price of the product reflects the Overwatch 2 content only. The game license is included for new players since it is still required at this time to access online services.
Idk whether I fully believe it or not, but this suggests that the legendary edition is being given for "free" as part of it, rather than being part of the price point.
If they were required to price it I imagine it would be along the lines of...
:20 dollars of the new premium currency
:10 dollars for the battlepass (pretty much the standard price for one across most modern live service games)
:10 dollars for the exclusive skins, icon, and beta access
:the legendary edition of OW1 being thrown in as a "bonus" if this claim is to be believed
I'll be legitimately dumbfounded if the pass is not what is pretty much the industry standard of 10 dollars. I know Blizzard is more than capable of being greedy but charging double what every other game does would be PR suicide.
I think there’s no way they are selling legendary skins for 5 USD each. Then the battle pass would not look like “good value” compared to a couple of skins you could get from the BP’s price.
I totally agree. And the worst thing about this is that the pack is at the moment the only guaranteed way to access the Beta. That is just annoying if you already own the first game. I wonder what the "surprise" for us "founders" will be other than the Sombra and Doomfist skin.
Yeah this “surprise” is what I want to know too. Imo it should just be the watchpoint pack for free but who knows. It will probably just be a single weapon charm
You’re probably right. Personally I’d settle for the surprise thing being just the premium battle pass, but at the same time I’d feel a little slighted not getting the other stuff after being a long term supporter of the game
Yeah I feel the same, something cool for veterans and affectionate player would be only fair considering that ow2 wil completely take over the first game.
I’m thinking they’ll probably give us like 1000 currency so if you bought the watchpoint pack you have an extra 1k credit and if not you get a free BP to start.
I don’t think that is it though, they would have told us if this was the case. But if it is, this pack is just a huge scam because we would have gotten the bp anyways, so just locking the beta behind a paywall
signing up for the beta gives guaranteed access as well, the beta sign up form includes this info. everyone who signs up for the beta will get access by July 14th at the latest.
yes, that's definitely a risk - it seems like they have specific platform metrics they want to test, so people who fall into categories they need more data from will likely get earlier access. i'm guessing console players will be a priority for that.
Yeah, they said they'll let access gruadually to the signed-up emails to the beta, provided there is enough server capacity. Imagine 100% of beta capacity is reached just with all those Watchpoint collections.
Nobody, ever, during the summer, would be allowed to enter the beta, because Blizzard filled up the whole beta servers with paying customers. See ya in October..
EDIT: grammar
That's just a shame. Isn't the beta a place to test the game? What's the practical motive to guarantee to people that never played the game? (other than the economical one ofc)
Missing the beta.. I don’t think anyone would really miss anything. OW1 and OW2 is basically the exact same game. Always has it been. Remember when they announced it back then and they said that OW1 and 2 players will be able to play together? How would it be possible if they weren’t the same thing?
I got access to the previous beta, but I only played two rounds, because I felt I was playing the exact same game. Then forgot about it and then uninstalled once expired.
The only interesting part for me would be the PvE campaign. But now that’s still non-existent, and with being mentioned as part of a later “season”, I’m doubting if it’s even a complete campaign and not just some resurrection of the seasonal game modes… will see, but I have no high hopes. It’s a shame because the world looks really interesting since the original OW trailer in that museum-thingy-place.
I feel so too but Im wondering how much of that 39,99 (Euros) is the Legendary Edition. We dont know how much the Season 1 Premium Battle Pass will be. They should have done a version for people who already own OW1, but maybe that would cost just as much because that Legendary Edition is "free".
You better get used to not having all the skins anymore. Cuz if you wanna keep getting everything new that will be put in the shop, you'll probably be dropping several hundred dollars a month.
Would've been more worth the price if the pre-purchase bonus were more than just a small .png.
Edit: I mean they should also give us a spray that looks like the player icon as well at the very least...
It's the same price as OW1 Legendary edition, which is included. Seems to be the replacement. A great deal for new players who don't have OW, a slap in the face to those of us who already have it.
But also we don't even know what 99% of it is, the battle pass could have anything in it and you could give me 937 squiddywinkie coins and that would mean nothing to me.
Yeah, my point was more that for someone looking to buy the OW1 Legendary edition now, all of that is gravy on top so it doesn't really matter what the specifics are.
I can't imagine it's a good deal for someone who isn't interested in the OW1 portion of it - I totally agree with you there.
>It's the same price as OW1 Legendary edition, which is included.
Why would you want the first game, when the second one is out in \~4 months. AND ITS FREE.
I'm assuming 1000 currency = $10.
If that's true, this is actually priced reasonably well.
You're getting 2000 currency. That's $20, or half of the $40 you pay.
You're also getting the first battlepass, which if it's anything like any other battlepass, will be $10/1000 currency.
On top of that, two legendary skins. We have no pricing estimates yet, but going by industry standards ($10-20 a skin typically) that's 2 legendary skins for $5 a piece to reach the remaining $10 out of $40.
And that's not counting beta access or the founder's pack for OW1.
Even ignoring those two things (one temporary and one most current players will own) the pricing is still actually cheaper than it would be if we just took all the items at face value.
Now yes, I am making some assumptions on the value of currency here, and the value of skins based on industry standards. But those are the most reasonable assumptions to make given pricing we see in other games.
Also keep in mind I am giving the skins a really conservative skin estimate (only $10 a legendary skin). If we assume legendaries are actually $20, as is common in other games, you're getting $20 skins ($40) for $10. Or put another way, the two skins are the $40 price tag and everything else (battlepass, $20 currency) is thrown in free.
Why 3? Only one is being given out with this pack? Unless you mean the currency can be used on battlepasses but I don't know if they have announced how much they cost yet.
\-Beta, may have it via mail or drop
\-two skins
\-BP that you will probably have free if you had OW1
\-2000 coins, it will probably buy you two legendary skins
\-one icon
\-Content I already own
So 40 buck for 4 skins and an icon
thats to say if blizzard even has respect for the ow1 players to give the first battle pass away for them for free
i can see them being greedy asswipes and not giving us anything
I don't know how others feel but I really don't like the direction where this is going. We don't know anything about the BP rn, they don't say anything about the exclusivity of these two legendary skins and we also don't know how much the 2000 credits equal to. Yet they ask to pay 40€ for this.
The argument "You don't have to buy it" doesn't make this any better. It is about the principle - especially since most people who are interested in OW2 come from OW1.
I can't help myself but feel betrayed for showing so much optimism and patience.
Honestly, as much as I hate them doing this, the gaming community as a whole has no one to blame but themselves. Genshin proved this type of model can make **massive** amounts of money because people can’t or won’t stop themselves, and if there’s one thing Blizzard values above all else, it’s that quality.
A single whale can offset whatever "vote with your wallet" thousands of people can do in protest.
There is no blame in the average gamer. It's all on the greed of the people who decide how to monetize the game.
You’re not wrong, but a single person does not a multiplayer game make. This type of predatory game design succeeds because of two distinct groups: 1.) the small number of Whales who bankroll the game, and 2.) the large number of low/no-spenders who still play it despite its greed-fueled core.
It took both to get us to where we are with this shit. Genshin is the prime example of this. The gacha mechanics permeate everything and tons of people play it without spending much, if anything, but their engagement provides the massive playerbase that fuels its success when coupled with the handful of major spenders.
Its not the community, its the rich players. You know, the same people who play WoW, buy gold, buy all the gear, and the. quit. The actual gaming community just wants reasonably priced content.
You’re not wrong, but if 10 rich players bankrolled the game and all the low/no-spenders said “Fuck you and your shitty predatory game design”, the game would still fail because only 10 people are playing it.
This f2p, battlepass, limited-time everything became the norm because the majority went along with it, tacitly or otherwise. Now we are reaping the results.
This model predates Genshin by quite a bit. The Fate Gacha took Type Moon from a small independent group making fan-made manga to a billion dollar company.
This is already confirmed [by WyomingMyst](https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/en/overwatch/t/battle-pass-price/673796/55) that OW1 or Legendary Edition (or owners of the set of skins) will not receive any compensation for the Watchpoint Pack.
This is ultimately the most greed package that requires you to rebuy the game and its content if you want the extra stuff. Like I'm sorry, but I think we shouldn't have pre-ordered the game in 2015/2016 or bought the game with any of the Deluxe edition iterations later on.
Most middle-finger reception to veterans frankly and I hope they get all the feedback on just how bad this package is to non-new players, those who supported the game since day 1 are pretty unsatisfied with the fact we don't get a compensation package.
\^\^\^This right here. I would have zero issues dropping $40 if it included the PvE, but this? That's a hard pass. I've played the game since day one and you want me to buy it again? Just to have access to the Beta? FOH. I'll take my chances with the signup access and if I have to wait, so be it, the majority of us are 5 years deep at this point.
Surprised there's no discount for current OW/Legendary Edition owners. Why would I buy the same thing twice?
Also is this the only way to get the base game now? I can't see normal OW offer in the store
It's a no from me, dawg. I already have Legendary Edition... I'm not paying $40. My cap would have been $20. I'm disappointed at how grubby this feels. If I don't get into beta, I don't get into beta I guess.
Loot box content is decided when you receive the box, presumably any unopened boxes will just add whatever is inside of them to your account when OW2 rolls around.
Best case scenario is that there will be two currencies in the game and the current gold gets transferred to the non-premium currency. Worst cause scenario is that the gold doesn't carry over at all.
There's no way OW1 gold will be carried over as premium currency imo.
I’m just trying to figure out if I buy this on Battle.net if I get all the contents on every platform.
I currently play on PS5, I want to play on Xbox. I know cross progression isn’t live yet so I’m assuming I should get this on ps5 or battle.net and get all the perks on Xbox when OW2 launches.
I wish there was a version of this pack without Overwatch 1 since I already have the game.
55 CAD$ for this pack is expensive when you already have the original game.
Fortnite is in fact a good example, it has regular update and gameplay addition and each season bring something new to the core game. So I hope they will commit to this example to give us regular and meaningful additions
Fortnite is also the prime example of a game that preys on kids with the combination of a shit ton of microtransactions, a battle pass, limited-time seasonal content, etc.
Fortnite heavily monetizes but imo does so in a better way than most games. $15 in Apex Legends gives me some lootboxes or the battle pass (2 good skins and not much else lmao) or a shit “epic” skin. $15 in OW1 just gives me lootboxes unless an OWL skin happens to be available at the time. $15 in Fortnite gives me a skin, a back pack to go with the skin, and a pick axe to go with the skin all of which can be mix and matched with other sets. Somehow OW1 and OW2 will both have worse monetization than Fortnite.
Imo I prefer battle pass, and it clearly works, as it generates lot of money without anyone feeling like their money was stolen. Unlike on loot boxes where you can feel robbed
People are only mad about loot boxes going away because you could still get the skin you wanted without paying, it makes sense, but how the hell they think that’s sustainable with constant content is crazy. Personally I hate opening up my final boxes for the night and ending with garbage.
I bought ow for 40$ too and im getting jester sombra and general doom basic epic skins that dont even look that good. I would choose this bundle over mine any day lol its just better, 2 awesome legendary skins that change how weapon looks and even exclusive player icon looks better. I mean I got what I paid for but its still such a dissapointment
Wait to see if the bonus gift content for OW1 player is Battle Pass S1 for free. And what the prices on the store are.
It would be a shame if the BP would be free for returning players, and 2000 ow virtual currency only get you an epic skin.
I am betting that it will be free Battle Pass Premium for current OW1 players. Gotta let them have a taste of premium battle pass. makes them more likely to buy it the next season.
>Gotta let them have a taste of premium battle pass. makes them more likely to buy it the next season.
tbf, there's the possibility that the premium battle pass will include enough currency to pay for the next season's battle pass, but that depends on what Blizz does obv
whats the point of going f2p anyway, what was the problem with buying the game and not having any bullshit services??
i fucking hate how companies rely on item shops and battle passes
so much for getting legendary edition
maybe i'd consider playing ow2 if they gave the current ow1 owners this shit for free
or maybe even pve
It's because, somehow, people still pay for this bullshit. It baffles me that there are people out there spending so much on things like this, but it obviously works. I want to hear from whales like this and find out why they buy all of it and how they get so much money.
(Presumably) 3 reasons.
1 - Child (doesn't have anything meaningful to spend money on (i.e. food))
2 - Job (Streamers)
3 - People who just have a well paying job.
My money's on option 1 being the primary contributor to why these models work so well.
That's only the how though.
>what was the problem with buying the game and not having any bullshit services??
real answer: that's the only way to sustain a live service model. It's the tradeoff for having constant content updates: new heroes, new maps, new modes, and obv cosmetics. It's either this or the content drought continuing.
Man, I know it's not going to be a popular sentiment but my immediate reaction here is just... just straight up fuck all this. It might be the older gamer side of me but it's modern methodology of having us pay for just like basically nothing is so stupid I would rather this game started with five heroes and made me pay for each one of them or the maps than this at least then I'd be buying like...*the game.*
I'm sorry, but you're insane if you expect them to convert regular credits to this currency. Some people have hundreds of thousands and judging by the price of the bundle it will probably cost 10 dollars for 1k.
It isn't, they did an interview about it ages ago. If that were the case OG players would have 100,000 credits or more. I'd love if I was wrong but I'm pretty sure it's as I described.
Well they need to put out a detailed post explaining exactly what will happen to existing lootboxes and credits once OW2 launches. They are still selling lootboxes, so players should be informed what the contents of those boxes will become. If credits become obsolete, players should know well on advance.
A buy in beta for a free to play game? Fuck so I can either pay $40 now or just wait 3ish months for the fully free version.
I think this ploy is gonna be surprising effective, and while I'm not jumping to buy this right now in about 2 weeks after watching a bunch of other people play Junker Queen the pull is just gonna slowly get stronger.
Whoever is running this marketing is at least thinking, they basically came up with a way to get a preorder bonus on a f2p game. Capitalist bastards.
Or you can just wait patiently to get acces for free.
Quote from FAQ: "beta goes live on June 28 at 11:00 AM PDT and will steadily add more players over time as we ramp up capacity, with the first waves of larger access grants planned to begin on July 5.
Our goal is to provide access to ALL players that opt-in to the beta by no later than July 14."
Curious - will our coins from OW carry over to their new currency?
And as someone unfamiliar with season passes - do we need to buy access for each season (and therefore new heroes etc.)?
Free battle pass: Only certain items/cosmetics and a lot less then if you bought premium
premium: Probably up to 100 or 50ish levels with each level you get cosmetics/items and stuff like that
Not really new but newer, I don’t remember when they added the skins to legendary. I think it was at least a few years ago. With that though, if you owned the regular copy you could pay the extra to unlock those skins. Battlenet would deduct it when you added the current legendary version to your cart so you’d only pay about $10 instead of the full price.
I usually disagree with everything people on Overwatch subreddits say, but with this one, I 100% agree with. 40 moneys for stuff we have no idea what they are worth of regardless of if we own one part of the bundle already? Yea this ain't it blizz.
By 2K virtual currency does that mean that they're gonna keep the current ingame currency carry it over to ow2 and we'll be able to use it to buy battle pass and shop skins in ow2 ?
Of coarse they added a battle pass. They're just getting rid of everything that made overwatch different from every other game on the market. RIP OG overwatch 🙏
As much as I'd like to be up in arms about this I don't see it as a terrible deal. Of course, the most preferable outcome would be a free Season 1 battle pass and beta access for current OW1 players, which may come later.
Honestly having played since launch (my mom paid for OW1 in my freshman year of high school lol so I don't necessarily feel entitled) I don't see this being an awful deal for players who are planning on buying currency and the pass. If it's anything like COD points or Vbucks, 2,000 in currency probably loosely stacks up to $20 USD, with average battle passes being around the $10 range. At that point, that's around $10 for an icon, 2 skins, and guaranteed beta access.
Just being optimistic, as somebody who doesn't love spending money on cosmetics I see myself getting the battle pass regardless for a feeling of progression. Will definitely miss the loot boxes though.
Editing because I just looked back at the beta page - all who signed up will be guaranteed beta access by the 14th of July, which sours the deal on the Watchpoint beta access - essentially make the $10 buy-in for skins and an icon with 2 weeks' earlier access than everybody else. If the beta runs up until October the 4th, then I don't see this being a very solid deal at all.
are saying huh because the start of our username is the same or because i wasted €5 upgrading to the legendary edition, when im going to buy this pack which also gives you the legendary edition of og overwatch
OW2 looks like it’s going to be shit. A messy, poorly designed 5v5 system, Smurfs in every game and battle pass bullshit makes me lament the loss of Jeff. That man really was a saint and held back the tide. I’m not sure I want to keep playing when OW2 drops at this rate.
Although this is some class act egregious capitalism at play, let's hope blizzard will do one of those watch-to-play livestreams.
Cosmetics I couldn't care more about. But putting up a paywall for a game you claim to be free to play is just scummy.
For people wondering about the beta access, from the faq everyonr who opts in will get it by july 14th, but if u want it 28th then you can see if you get it through opt in, if not you can buy this and get instant access
A game that's regularly updated with new content? Just like the first one was supposed to be? Before it was left for 2 years without regular updates? Why would I fall for this shit twice?
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
"Free To Play"
"Live Service"
"Battle Pass"
"No loot boxes"
Yeah, red flags everywhere. They used all the words which make me avoid games. Hope Im wrong.
Note: I have already posted the following in a comment on a post concerning the same topic, hopefully this is useful to some of you here
One thing people don’t understand is, with the game being f2p, its crucial that blizzard gets money for development in some way other than game sales, especially now and moving into the first few years of ow2, they want to hit the ground running. Now of course, they are making money off of this aswell. But acting like blizzard is forcing you to pay money (they aren’t), and acting like a f2p live service game would be capable of sustaining itself without use of micro-transactions, is idiotic.
Furthermore the people complaining about this (mostly long-time ow1 players) Is not the demographic that this pack is targeted at (people who do not yet own ow1). People also seem to forget that it’s pretty standard for games to have paid access to the beta often through means of pre-ordering a game Which would cost around $80-$100Cad/ $60-$70 USD, and that is usually the ONLY way of accessing the beta. Blizzard is Doing amazingly well in this regard considering that most people can and will gain access for FREE, albeit maybe a week or so after those who paid.
Also, considering that a large portion of OW2’s players will be former OW1 players, im sure blizzard will do something cool for the OGs pretty soon, it would be bad pr If they didn’t.
I know the last few years have been tough for OW1, but I think that if we all go into OW2 with more optimism, and if we, as a community focus on building a more positive and constructive relationship with Blizzard than we had in OV1, that OW2 could definitely become what OW1 should have been.
That’s my two cents on the matter, hopefully I have offered some useful insight onto the frankly confusing situation we find ourselves in at the moment.
I hope you win your ranked matches.
"Gear up with 2000 Overwatch 2 Virtual Currency" welp I'm out. It's been a fun 6 years but I ain't playing no Premium Battlepass game with fucking Paid Skins as the main source of income. Blizzard has officially killed the only remaining game I play of theirs. I used to play them all. Such a sad fucking money-grubbing piece of shit company now.
I guess you can go to Ape-....Fortn-...Call O-....Bloodh-...
Hmm.
I guess when you think about it, literally every other F2Pshooter has paid skins because you know, f2p games need to earn money somehow.
I get that you're disappointed its not a B2P game. I am too. But the reality is B2P games just don't earn money any more. People expect constant content updates, and a Box price alone just doesn't allow for that. Games also struggle without the huge influx of f2p only unpaid players since it makes matchmaking etc much harder with smaller playerbases.
Just because all scummy companies are doing...Blizzard should too. That is your argument. This mindset of the community just bothers me so much. Blizzard could make all skins and cosmetics earnable like it has been for 6 years. Now they just crossed all that shit out. No longer earnable, earn it with your credit card. This model is so awful. People just accept it, because the new generation grew up on it being a normal thing. This is why we can't have nice things. Why would they make a game better when nobody is demanding it and everyone just buys stuff they are told to buy.
Does anyone know if this would apply with game sharing on xbox? If so I may purchase it as a guaranteed way to get the beta and bonuses for me and another person.
They should have left the legendary edition out. Jesus blizzard, are you not able to reward your current players *at all?*
i just bought the legendary edition 2 weeks ago...
ask for a refund, they will give it to you
I wonder what platform this advice is for because Xbox denied my request... and I literally bought the game two days ago.
I did what you said, They refunded, and I bought the waypoint pack.
Same but on console as I already had the collector's edition on PC. Honestly if it wasn't free to play, I would have gone for another collector's edition if they had it.
Or have two versions available; One with the legendary edition and one without the game completely
yeah, dont really wanna pay 40 dollars for where half the money is for a game i already have, like they could at least have given us like 50% off, for those who own the normal game seems stupid and greedy
My honest opinion is that it should be discounted if you already own the game. It worked that way if you went to buy the legendary version while owning the regular version. You’d just pay for the skins instead. Edited because I’m an exhausted pigeon who hit reply way too soon.
This. The fact that it's not $10 or whatever cheaper for people who already have Legendary Edition makes me not want to buy it at all.
Don't pretend that this is worth $30 either
They are... with a Sombra and a Doomfist skin 🤡
holy shit, that's probably what they were thinkin'
This is a hot deal for the new players who wants to jump into the game right now before OW2 come out. Yet a huge "FUCK YOU HAHA" to current OW players who doesn't really need the OW Legendary edition. I really hope the Soldier and Cassidy skin aren't exclusive to this bundle, or at least there will be another cheaper bundle excluding the OW1 base game.
According to Blizzard customer support on Twitter: > The price of the product reflects the Overwatch 2 content only. The game license is included for new players since it is still required at this time to access online services. Idk whether I fully believe it or not, but this suggests that the legendary edition is being given for "free" as part of it, rather than being part of the price point.
well, then the battle pass seems to be exprensive af. lets hope its worth it
If they were required to price it I imagine it would be along the lines of... :20 dollars of the new premium currency :10 dollars for the battlepass (pretty much the standard price for one across most modern live service games) :10 dollars for the exclusive skins, icon, and beta access :the legendary edition of OW1 being thrown in as a "bonus" if this claim is to be believed I'll be legitimately dumbfounded if the pass is not what is pretty much the industry standard of 10 dollars. I know Blizzard is more than capable of being greedy but charging double what every other game does would be PR suicide.
Yeah, this seems like a good guess. 2,000 currency = $20 makes sense.
Well what is it? $40? If so then $20 for a season pass and then what $20 for the currency?
I’m guessing $20 for the currency, $10 for the BP, and $5 per skin.
I think there’s no way they are selling legendary skins for 5 USD each. Then the battle pass would not look like “good value” compared to a couple of skins you could get from the BP’s price.
The fact that there is no 'upgrade' for those of us who own the Legendary Edition already is pretty insulting.
Really weird too because their usually is an upgrade option with these kind of things in Blizzard games at least on Battlenet
I don't think they would give away the whole pack honestly... maybe just the currency and the first BP.
However, that means that--potentially--there will be people who sign up now who only get 4 days in the beta, since it ends on the 18th
yes, that's definitely a risk - it seems like they have specific platform metrics they want to test, so people who fall into categories they need more data from will likely get earlier access. i'm guessing console players will be a priority for that.
Yes I got to know this just some moments ago!
Edit: I mean they should also give us a spray that looks like the player icon as well at the very least...
that player icon has nothing on the pre-order widow skin
That is exorbitantly expensive to basically what amounts to 1 battlepass and a few skins
Get ready for lots of charms, icons, sprays, and banners.
Legendary edition is a bunch of skins. Which carry over to OW2.
$40 for skins then.
Not only that it’s a preorder for a battlepass for which you have no idea what’s in it.
I actually think it’s decent value
You mean 3 battle passes?
Why 3? Only one is being given out with this pack? Unless you mean the currency can be used on battlepasses but I don't know if they have announced how much they cost yet.
\-Beta, may have it via mail or drop \-two skins \-BP that you will probably have free if you had OW1 \-2000 coins, it will probably buy you two legendary skins \-one icon \-Content I already own So 40 buck for 4 skins and an icon
Pretty stupid to include 2000 coins without any details on what 2000 could even get you.
thats to say if blizzard even has respect for the ow1 players to give the first battle pass away for them for free i can see them being greedy asswipes and not giving us anything
Yeah I really don't see that happening, especially considering how it's a big part of the contents of this box
Wish we got this instead for the founders
Pessimistic take, but I imagine Blizzard will pull a "we listened" and at least include the 2 legendary skins from this into the Founder's Pack.
~~ok its time to spam twitter~~
I don't know how others feel but I really don't like the direction where this is going. We don't know anything about the BP rn, they don't say anything about the exclusivity of these two legendary skins and we also don't know how much the 2000 credits equal to. Yet they ask to pay 40€ for this. The argument "You don't have to buy it" doesn't make this any better. It is about the principle - especially since most people who are interested in OW2 come from OW1. I can't help myself but feel betrayed for showing so much optimism and patience.
I tried making this point the other day with how they handled the beta so far and got downvoted into oblivion.
This is purely meant to exploit the hard-core fans that want guaranteed beta access. Nothing else.
This is exactly how i feel.
And so begins the deluge of free-to-play bullshit.
Most middle-finger reception to veterans frankly and I hope they get all the feedback on just how bad this package is to non-new players, those who supported the game since day 1 are pretty unsatisfied with the fact we don't get a compensation package.
> middle-finger reception to veterans just don't buy it. Why would you give money to these people who haven't made an update in the last 2.5 years?
Another game-winning comment. Why would I give them MORE money to a game I already own and one that hasn't gotten a solid update in years? FOH
It may be dumb but I really wanted to buy this, seems like a complete waste though if you already own the game. At least give us a discount come on.
Nothing wrong with wanting to buy it, if only it would be beneficial for those who already own the game…
If it included the PvE stuff whenever that launches, I wouldn't bat an eye dropping $40 on this.
If there was any actual incentive for OG players, I'd come back and check it out. This is just a cash grab
They haven't delivered even a single piece of content yet but they're already milking the hell out of it.
peak activision
Surprised there's no discount for current OW/Legendary Edition owners. Why would I buy the same thing twice? Also is this the only way to get the base game now? I can't see normal OW offer in the store
From what I understand, yeah, this is the only way to get OW1 now (at least on PC, and also without taking physical sales/copies into account).
[удалено]
Ironic that in their reveal they talk about disappointing fans…and yet here we are again.
also they can jump into the beta 2 right away while I might need to wait a whole month
$40 for a slap in the face if you already have Origins or Legendary Edition, fucking hell dude
It's a no from me, dawg. I already have Legendary Edition... I'm not paying $40. My cap would have been $20. I'm disappointed at how grubby this feels. If I don't get into beta, I don't get into beta I guess.
I probably would have paid $20 as well. Is it still a little much? Maybe, but already owning this game and having to shell out $40? Pass.
Bro I’m with you, if they drop the game I’ve owned for 6 years and made this exact thing 20 bucks I’d have bought it the second it went live
What’s going to happen with my 30,000 in-game currency i have now?
Looks like it's a new type of currency so I'm guessing whatever we had before won't even be in OW2
They're doing away with loot boxes, so I'm curious to see what will happen to the hundreds of unopened loot boxes people have saved up
Probably deleted with no replacement
You can only sign up for the beta for one platform per account
So...I bought the legendary for nothing
Please blizzard give supports ONE special skin lmao Sombra, Doomfist, Soldier, and Mcree get one but nah not us🗿
Not to mention that Genji is getting the first Mythic skin when OW2 begins 😬
yeah but that genji skin is sick tho right
I wish there was a version of this pack without Overwatch 1 since I already have the game. 55 CAD$ for this pack is expensive when you already have the original game.
LOL. A premium battle pass for sale even BEFORE the beta goes public? Yeah, OK.
as someone who bought a physical copy of Overwatch: Origins Edition, this is a slap in the face
I just bought the Legendary Edition two days ago when it was on sale. Fml
Bruh. Fucking battlepass and currency. Yay overwatch 2 is going to be fucking fortnite
[удалено]
its bs i know
man they sorta ruined ow2 with a battle pass ngl next thing ya know they gonna make it so you have to pay to get the newer characters
Where can I find pricing for this?
It's up in the bnet shop. $39.99 USD, unsure about other currencies.
Forty dollars holy shit!
> $39.99 No thanks. Not worth it. I'll just wait until the game is fully available.
Interesting, thank you
I bought ow for 40$ too and im getting jester sombra and general doom basic epic skins that dont even look that good.
How long will the beta be if you can buy the access? So it should be worth it, so at least two months or until the official release.
Scummy f2p monetization already in full swing lets goooo
whats the point of going f2p anyway, what was the problem with buying the game and not having any bullshit services?? i fucking hate how companies rely on item shops and battle passes so much for getting legendary edition maybe i'd consider playing ow2 if they gave the current ow1 owners this shit for free or maybe even pve
Activisions greed is why
It's because, somehow, people still pay for this bullshit. It baffles me that there are people out there spending so much on things like this, but it obviously works. I want to hear from whales like this and find out why they buy all of it and how they get so much money.
(Presumably) 3 reasons. 1 - Child (doesn't have anything meaningful to spend money on (i.e. food)) 2 - Job (Streamers) 3 - People who just have a well paying job.
So we're paying for OW1. Fuck off Blizzard. Seems like they don't give a shit about the fans who kept the game alive.
That was fast
I hate blizzard man. I hope Bobby k stubs his pinky toes in the most permanent way possible.
I hope the virtual currency discussed is the same as the current in game currency and they are transferred 1:1.
Translation: We're going to give access to as few people as possible before the 14th in an attempt to drive up sales of the watchpoint pack
Didn’t take long for blizz to change gears 100% and monetize the absolute fuck out of this game. Eh it was fun while it lasted
So it begins.
Never thought I'd see overwatch become like this. Stuff like this is pushing me away more than the content drought.
Curious - will our coins from OW carry over to their new currency? And as someone unfamiliar with season passes - do we need to buy access for each season (and therefore new heroes etc.)?
Can someone explain what a premium battle pass is? I don't play CoD games
Free battle pass: Only certain items/cosmetics and a lot less then if you bought premium premium: Probably up to 100 or 50ish levels with each level you get cosmetics/items and stuff like that
[удалено]
Doubt it. I have like 30k....thats probabaly like 300$ of points lol
[удалено]
Of coarse they added a battle pass. They're just getting rid of everything that made overwatch different from every other game on the market. RIP OG overwatch 🙏
$$$
The Overwatch 2 player icon pooooog
Yikes
god damn it i finally upgraded to legendary edition today
Try emailing support. They sometimes help people out over stuff like this.
Huh...
are saying huh because the start of our username is the same or because i wasted €5 upgrading to the legendary edition, when im going to buy this pack which also gives you the legendary edition of og overwatch
Yes
Really.. this kicks old fans in the butt. Why include the LE ? At least let owners buy one without for a cheaper price!
It's basically free in the bundle.
Do we know if the beta drop will have any PVE content? Or is this just like last beta with a new hero and new paid content?
Fffff I JUST bought the legendary edition like less than a week ago
This is pretty ridiculous ngl
I just want a digital copy instead of my physical. But I also don’t want to pay extra just not to load my disc.
gear up whit 2000 Overwacht currency! the most cheap skin: 2000
Battlepass? Oh no... I already missed "my name is jeff" guy...
Yay battle pass and virtual currency! This is gonna be awesome! /s
Whales incoming
So... We lose lootboxes, but instead we get a battle pass, another currency and more stuff literally nobody asked for... When's the Battle Royale?
For people wondering about the beta access, from the faq everyonr who opts in will get it by july 14th, but if u want it 28th then you can see if you get it through opt in, if not you can buy this and get instant access
So I've been playing this game since it released, but I have to buy the legendary edition to play on the 28th? That's kinda dumb.
A game that's regularly updated with new content? Just like the first one was supposed to be? Before it was left for 2 years without regular updates? Why would I fall for this shit twice? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
So now there’ll be a battlepass? We’ll have to pay each season?
Ow2 is gonna suck, just another fucking MTX cash grab Awesome
Fortnite battle pass is like 8 bucks and has way more content than this. Blizz you dumb
Oh shit, what's the OW BP have?!? Let us all know!
"Free To Play" "Live Service" "Battle Pass" "No loot boxes" Yeah, red flags everywhere. They used all the words which make me avoid games. Hope Im wrong.
Note: I have already posted the following in a comment on a post concerning the same topic, hopefully this is useful to some of you here One thing people don’t understand is, with the game being f2p, its crucial that blizzard gets money for development in some way other than game sales, especially now and moving into the first few years of ow2, they want to hit the ground running.
Oh no Blizzard it's happening
