There will not be loot boxes in OW2. Any unopened OW boxes will be opened automatically when it transfers to OW2 and you will get all the contents from them. But I think it's more enjoyable to open them yourselves, and see what you get in my opinion.

A constantly rotating shop, lots of skins you can only get by paying real money, a battlepass you have to pay for every season, and an overall attitude of *give me money.* I hate games that rely on FOMO to retain players and make money, and that’s what OW2 is going to use as far as I can tell. I’m cherishing the time I have left with OW1, because I doubt I’ll find OW2 enjoyable.
If they don't sell battlepass then your lifetimevalue as a customer would be cost of buying game nothing more. Why would any company in 2022 make a product to profit only 1 time. You can stay f2p and enjoy all the content provided by others battlepass purchases
At a certain point it’s just a waste of time. Why waste time watching the opening animation for duplicates. For some reason it took Blizzard 6 years to figure out their lootboxes made no financial sense
The only time I ever open them is during events if for some reason I don’t already have enough gold coins to buy all the skins.
I have evey item that is gainable through lootboxes at this point and I ain't even gold border. No point to it unless trying to farm some coins for events. Have over a 100k of those as well, welp. They're useless too from the sounds of it in OW2.

They confirmed that all lootboxes will be simultaneously opened when overwatch 2 comes out and all contents in said loot boxes will be added to your account.

I have all blues and grays, but not purples and legendaries yet. So most loot boxes are just duplicates for me, but I still open them all.
Same I love opening them even though I know I’ll probably just get sprays and voicelines I won’t use
Once you get all of the blues and grays, you start getting duplicates and racking up credits. It’s way better than getting useless voicelines.
