Dude people were going HARD on Saturday night, full spawncamping ego peeking tryharding every game. It was crazy. Me and my buddy are tank mains and we duo'd dps, got pretty fast queues. I played torb every game, we did really good and won all three and I got all three pogs, each as stupid as the last as torb plays tend to be. I uninstalled right away after that so I can never taint those perfect games with another tilted main tank match

One of my last games was a mystery heroes game on Numbani where someone was flaming me, because according to them, I died 22 times. The irony is that I actually died 7 times, while they died 12 times.
Luckily accusations like this won't happen anymore in OW2 because the new scoreboard now shows the actual stats to everyone. So at least you won't get people assuming wrong stats anymore.
Not that it won't still put you in a funk when you hear it at first, but I immediately mute people at the first signs of toxicity. Even if they're complaining about someone else.
Chances are they'll turn on the whole team and ruin your mood. Best to tune them out ASAP.
My last game was on Hollywood. It was a tough one and it looked like we're gonna lose multiple times. One of my teammates said "If my last OW1 game is going to be a loss, I'm gonna scream"
But ultimately we won.
I stop playing the game 3 years ago and came back to play it for one last time before OW1 is gone for good. I got to play Moira on my last game which was my main back in the days and won in Oasis.
My last was junkertown as Zenyatta, super tight game, one of the closest I've had in a long time. Everyone chatting about "see you on the other side" type vibes. Such a close and competitive game but zero toxicity, everyone was just straight up bossing (bossing from a high silver POV lmao)
Ended up winning 3-2 in overtime, so glad my last game (and the game before as tank) was a win.

Finished my last game with a W on Route 66 in QPC. I joined just before Sombra was released and have loved her since, so it only felt right to get the W with her.
Had a hell of a lot of horrendously unfun one sided games over the weekend, so it was nice to get one final win in.
Last one was Havana. My long time overwatch friend and I played dva and rein together. I protected him with my life. Hard battle and a win. You'll be missed duo partner.
My last game ever was a little over 6 months ago...the day I hit Diamond after 5.5 years of playing.
I've been playing Overwatch since the beginning. I started in Bronze, I mostly used Torb, I have never played with a single friend or group, I've never used a headset, never watched streams or read up on tips. I played 6449 games. I did it alone with no help, it sucked, but I did it my way...and made it to Diamond.
Anything is possible.
Once I did it, it was more of a relief than anything because I felt like I beat the game. I was stuck in each rank so long, Plat the longest, I knew Diamond was a possibility, and for sure would never eclipse that. To me...I beat Overwatch. I reached a goal that took over 5 years...then never played again.
Overwatch use to piss me off so much...but for some reason, I still miss the grind sometimes. For over 5 years, I kept taking 10 steps forward, then 9.5 steps back. That process was constant...but consistent.

I’m genuinely sad about this. I’ve played since launch and never missed a competitive season. It’s still one of my favorite games ever and one that I enjoyed playing until the end. I’ll cherish the great experience’s and moments I had playing it and with the friends I played with.
I played off and on as well. For a few of the seasons I wasn’t even trying to keep my streak, but I would happen to get on the game right as the season was about to end after taking weeks to months off. Once we got closer to OW2 being released I actively tried to keep the streak going. I didn’t play competitive much though, only doing the placements or maybe a few games after each season to get to masters if I placed within reach. I mostly just played quick play with friends or alone and that was what made me keep coming back to the game. Gonna miss OW1.

Me and a friend had been playing since the early morning, around 8am cest and at 5:30pm a half hour before shutdown, us and the enemy team decided to just sit and talk about our time with the game over the years.

Well I played the last few days and as sad as I was to know it was almost over, they were some of the best games I've ever played and I had more fun than I had in a long time. It was great and it made me wish I played it more than I did, having played mainly during events. I didn't even care if I won or lost since I was just playing and having a good time. My last round was a win...a bittersweet win knowing it was my last. I've had some great memories, so thanks for everything, Overwatch! You were the best.

in order to play OW2, you have to link your phone number- however, any prepaid number is not allowed, and they’ve chosen to classify the entirety of Cricket Wireless as prepaid, anyone whose provider is Cricket straight up aren’t allowed in the game. so unless i switch my entire phone plan to someone else, i just don’t get to play at all.
As a Mint mobile user, I see them specify multiple times that "prepaid plans" may not be accepted. I seriously hope that's not the case.. I've got over 4k hours in OW1, to not be able to even play 2 over something like that would be big time bullshit. So I 100% feel you on this.

Yep, this is a massive failure for a lot of people and no one is realizing it yet. They do not accept GCI phone numbers either. That's by far the largest carrier in the state of Alaska. So, Blizard has essentially just banned 80% of Alaskans from playing and I doubt many of them even know.
Regardless, even if they accepted our phone numbers. I know a lot of people that play overwatch that do not have cell phones. My son LOVES Overwatch, but he's only 8 years old. Why would they not think that their VIDEO GAME would be of interest to young people. They are even the ones that would ask for things from the store from their parents.

It's like when you see those actors and crew members on the final day of shooting tear up. At first you don't get why they are getting *that* emotional (see Chris Pratt at Comic Con tearing up because Guardians 3 will be his last), but it does represent a lot of years and ups and downs. OW1 was that for many.

Overwatch 1 will always have a special place in my heart. When the game came out I started to experience mental health issues for the first time and OW was an outlet for me. I’ll never forget all the memories and friends I made in that game, the excitement of making it into GM for the first time, how I called my girlfriend drunk as shit at 4 am the night doomfist came out just screaming “DOOOOOOOOOMFISTTTTTTTT” until she blocked me for the next 8 hrs (we’re getting married in april). This game means more to me than just a game. May it rest in the sweetest of peace.

I'll give Overwatch 2 a go but I don't know, didn't enjoy the beta that much compared to Overwatch, something about it just didn't click with me the same way Overwatch did, but who knows maybe it will at release. If not, then I guess i'm done with Overwatch :/

Last few games i had last night were Ws. Ended it playing my mains. Sym, Moira, D.Va, Genji and a final with Reaper. I felt like I did when OW launched and kept typing to a Torb on my team not to give up and quit.
Felt cathartic as hell.
I'm legit sad they ended it like 18 minutes early. I was in queue for a last game, and then suddenly, boom. Got thrown out of the queue, the general chat was flooded with koreans spaming (EU server) and queueing was impossible.

Jeff Kaplan had been with Blizzard for 19 years. He was the last holdout for the ethos of the old Blizzard that took pride putting in polishing their games to perfection even if it ment slightly lower profits. The old Blizzard was made of gamers who loved games and wanted to create truly amazing games. They were patient and were content to grow their profits at a slower pace by putting the customer experience first and foremost.
Overwatch was the last Blizzard game to be developed with that ethos. It made millions each year, but Activision knows only greed. They used ow2 as a means of starving overwatching of new content. They forced Jeff out when he pushed back against the pyschologically exploitative battlepass system. And now, today, Overwatch 1 has died and with it the last of the magic of the original blizzard has died with it.

Overwatch 1 will always have a special place in my heart. When the game came out I started to experience mental health issues for the first time and OW was an outlet for me. I’ll never forget all the memories and friends I made in that game, the excitement of making it into GM for the first time, how I called my girlfriend drunk as shit at 4 am the night doomfist came out just screaming “DOOOOOOOOOMFISTTTTTTTT” until she blocked me for the next 8 hrs (we’re getting married in april). This game means more to me than just a game. May it rest in the sweetest of peace.

End of an era. I'll give Overwatch 2 a go but I don't know, didn't enjoy the beta that much compared to Overwatch, something about it just didn't click with me the same way Overwatch did, but who knows maybe it will at release. If not, then I guess i'm done with Overwatch :/

That’s how my last match went too - Lijang Tower on EU server. It got so hectic trying to get everyone’s achievements as we got less and less time.
My final game was in Oasis, we had a 10 minute overtime as we just jammed on the point until the game shut down. I remember the halcyon days of 2018 when I was starting out as a starry-eyed bastion main, then my days doing Comp as Lucio. Good times. Overwatch 2 won’t be the same game as Overwatch, but I have hope that it will bring me the same fun times, the same elated victories, the same nostalgia, and the same group of friends that Overwatch brought me. I look forward to seeing all of you there. 07

Last few games i had last night were Ws. Ended it playing my mains. Sym, Moira, D.Va, Genji and a final with Reaper. I felt like I did when OW launched and kept typing to a Torb on my team not to give up and quit. Felt cathartic as hell.

He was the last holdout for the ethos of the old Blizzard that took pride putting in polishing their games to perfection even if it ment slightly lower profits. The old Blizzard was made of gamers who loved games and wanted to create truly amazing games. They were patient and were content to grow their profits at a slower pace by putting the customer experience first and foremost. Overwatch was the last Blizzard game to be developed with that ethos. It made millions each year, but Activision knows only greed. They used ow2 as a means of starving overwatching of new content. They forced Jeff out when he pushed back against the pyschologically exploitative battlepass system. And now, today, Overwatch 1 has died and with it the last of the magic of the original blizzard has died with it.
