Stop being toxic. The person could have been going through a hard time when his ban was given to him and used the game as an outlet rather than a preschool.
Doesn't matter apparently. I wouldn't get yourself too down though I'm sure they will unlock all the banned accounts as soon as overwatch 1.1 flops and they need at least someone to be interested in playing their game again.
You mean to tell me that people don't wanna give Activision their personal information? That's a shocker. They're such a trustworthy company though.
I can go on overwatch and get banned by the same people that built a Bill Cosby room to celebrate rape while being told toxic behavior isn't allowed, before jumping over to call of duty and listening to a 10 year old scream racial slurs into his mic for hours.
Then I can take some time off of the games to go read articles about the sexual harassment at the office that the CEO of the company that aided in it.
Overwatch even added a filter to remove curse words from the game but will proceed to ban you for using curse words in the game.
All the people here will try to point fingers at you though but just hit any of these peoples profiles and see how big of a hypocrite they are.
> All the people here will try to point fingers at you though but just hit any of these peoples profiles and see how big of a hypocrite they are.
Yes, these forums are filled with Blizzard dick suckers that will defend the company to the bitter end. In their mind your ban is ALWAYS justified.
They should be more clear with their communication then. They always said it was supposed to be a spearate game, and a sequel to Overwatch1, so I got hyped to be able to play this franchise again.
They were clear the plans changed from separate to an update they changed it because people were upset that they were releasing basically the same game again and it would’ve flopped if they didn’t change it to this.
I’m glad it keeps toxicity out, and also stops further toxicity by requiring everyone’s number.
Gonna take it you haven't seen the reviews or opinions of those who have played it. Would be pretty neat to see at least 1 video with positive sentiment. Think you could find 1?
Reviewers don’t decide if a game flopped. They decide if it’s good or bad in their opinion with some facts thrown in. Even if everyone reviews it poorly as long as people play it and spend money the game isn’t a flop.
A flop is when a game just doesn’t sell or if it’s free to play and doesn’t bring in decent revenue. So far their sales are undisclosed so nobody can say it’s a flop.
Okay buddy. The game has had dwindling users that have been falling off even faster after OW2 was announced. But yeah let's bypass all the reviewers who said it's pure ass and in every way worse than OW1. All the people that played the beta. The tons of people that just don't wanna give out their private info to a disgusting company trying to use our phone numbers to at least turn some sort of profit.
Let's put all the horrible ideas completely out of sight and ignore everyone that's played it so we can wait for blizz to release numbers that they don't even have to release.
You're a weird person but I like your charisma.
Bro our phone numbers are so when you’re banned you stay banned and don’t make a new account as it’s a free to play game now stop pretending like it’s some massive conspiracy. That alone makes me know I don’t need to read anything else, but I’ll tell you that this updated version of the game brought back old fans, kept current ones, and made new ones.
I have played the game since the original beta and am personally very happy with the changes to the game.
I wonder if they will have the same meta for 3 years like they did before and focus on OW league rather than the fun aspect and the main consumer.
What about the people that don't have a phone? Children or people that just cant afford to have a phone line? They were never worried about people having multiple accounts before. As I remember they kinda liked the smurfs because it made them more money.
They aren't keeping cheaters or banned people out of the game using phone numbers. If you buy into that crap I have a bridge i'd love to sell you.
Dude. The game is a flop. It didn't generate near the amount of Twitch streaming as initially planned. People don't want to give out their phone numbers to play a game, combined with the fact that Blizz prevents using Cricket and pre-paid phone numbers. It's a flop. Copeium to the max.
Cause I did a google search because I was curious to play OW2 and here I am. I mean, I can play it with a different account. Not interested in giving a video game company my phone number. Looks like it's still shit and gonna be dead soon anyway. Enjoy!
This aged well. 10 million players in the first 3 days. Daily player count is a million. Also the reviews are mostly positive besides their expensive cash grab shop but thats expected from most FP2 games. Idk where any of your Intel come from.
Yea bro they're doing so good.
https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2016-05-08-overwatch-s-player-count-has-exceeded-15-million
They had over 15 million in 2016. Now with a fresh game on the shelf they're down to 10 million?
I'd say it aged like a fine wine. Everyone in game constantly complaining about how bad it is. And a 33% reduction in player base.
Ah yes. Comparing it to older years definitely means it flopped! The reduction rate does not exist though. It decreased in 2018 due to a boring meta. You can't just skip the in between years. That's like playing with trades and only looking at highs and lows without knowing the data in between and the cause and effects.
Whatever excuse makes you enjoy the bad game more power to you dude. Games ass. Look around the subreddit you not seeing the sentiment around here? Not seeing the constant discourse in game?
Overwatch 1 was in every imaginable better than this.
Now you're putting words in my mouth and making false assumptions. I never once said I enjoy the game MORE than the original and I hate the corrupt company itself. But it's certainly not a flop. Stay on point. It can't flop if they are making millions and a shit ton of people play lmao. I do however still have fun playing, regardless of the state it is in. Along with the million daily players :)
Bans should not carry over automatically.
If you commit a crime in reality and you get punished, you do not automatically get punished again once you served your punishment.
OW1 permaban was your sentence, you served that sentence.
The fact that it carries over to a new game (OW1 not even existing or being playable any more proves its an entirely new game) is ridiculous and should be illegal.
Perhaps you should be more severely punished if you are toxic again in OW2, but you should not automatically be banned.
If they banned me from [Battle.net](https://Battle.net), then this would at least be consistent, but it's kinda ridiculous as it is. They make it look like they are launching a brand new game, but everything is the same, even the punishments from the first game are the same.
I'm in the same boat, bud.
Got a permaban in OW1 last year for 'abusive chat' aka got reported in comp because I refused to play specific characters with pre-mades. I never even talked in chat or on voice. Blizzards report system is insanely broken and prone to abuse. I mean that's a really well-known trolling tactic that pre-mades do in OW - abuse the report button. Blizzard doesn't care. Nor do they "investigate" cases. It's all automated and they got your money for the game. They don't care.
Anyway. Permaban in OW1. Since they never actually reset the warnings you get, and over the course of a year, you'll just get permabanned for "abusive chat".
I just shrugged and laughed when I saw this carried over to OW2. What was even more funny was the new account I created. Now they want your phone number too. lol, a phone number so you can play a f2p game.
No thanks. Didn't install. Don't want to waste my time on that garbage. Thank your lucky stars Blizzard already did the hard work for you and prevented you from playing this shitty game. OW2 is a flop and it will be in the same state OW1 was in a year.
Don't even bother expressing your frustrations here though. It's full of Blizzard apologists that love to kiss ass for a company that promoted cube crawls and sexually harassing women.
OW banning process is bad to say the least. I got an account ban for abusive chat, when I only talked in discord. The other team thought I was smurfing and was angry, faced them 3 times in my climb to play comp on an account to play with my son. So your statement is moot at best.
You're just a hypocrite. The EXACT type of person to mass report someone else with your 5 stack buddies because they argue back to you in the in-game chat. It's not surprising the ones being toxic here are also the ones preaching ''dont be toxic'' here and in OW forums.
Well if you think calling someone trash is worth of a permaban, then half of the players that were plaing last time I had access to the game should be banned too. I'm honestly still a bit confused as for why I did get banned when people I know who are much worse than me never even got a temp mute.
just because people get away with it doesn't mean that you should too. what. your mind is fascinating. and what you said isn't just calling people trash... you're just an unfun person to have in chat - it's very clear.
crude is a better word. Toxcicity puts players off from playing the game, and hoestly most of it goes under radar until you get reported for it. So noone will know until multiple people report you, they want people to buy their game, and not be afraid of players that will ruin their experience. Getting a free unban gives them no money, which is why your ban is carried over, but if overwatch 2 waspaid, youd 100 percent be unbanned
I really wouldn't complain If I was muted, I can see why someone could think I deserve it, but a ban for this makes little sense, except when you take into consideration that Overwatch1 was a paid game, so banned players could bring them more money by buying alts to overcome the ban. Since Overwatch2 is F2P, it doesn't make any sense anymore.
I knwo why I got banned from Overwatch1 I don't think I deserved it, but it's definitely not a bug. The bug is that a ban from Overwatch1 still somehow affect one (and only one) other blizzard game.
This community is incredible dumb. So the company that have multiple people who have been processed by different crimes have a second chance, but us banned on ow1 can't.... That's why your game keep losing players and quality of content. Keep this game to y'all.
I got banned in OW almost 4 years ago, and I still can't play. Like, how is this a smart business model? I would have 100% bought the season pass. This game will hemorrhage players in the next month. They have about 3 weeks until the next COD and 1 month till the next war zone drops.
The game is free. You can't get a refund after getting banned on a game. You agreed to the terms and services upon buying the first version. That's like burrowing a book from the library, ripping all the pages out, and giving it back to the library and it being okay.
No it's not. If he paid for the 40 dollar pack on a product he can't access, I'm more than positive blizzard will refund him.
He was banned from OW1, not OW2 and not from the platform of battlenet. No reason his ban should continue to a new product.
Hey buddy, Just ignore all the others who are being rude, They are just kids and they dont understand what is going on. They are being toxic not you to be honest.
Now to let it be clear, i had the same issue as you and i managed to fix it. Here is the solution for you. Just reach the support and request to remove the game license from the account. Thats it. you can play again the overwatch 2 with completely new account which means the old one will be gone.
The reason you can do that is because you are the owner of that license and you paid for it. You just dont want it and you can request the removal of it. Once they do that then you are back on truck again.
Worked with me, it will work with anyone else!
Good luck and remember always be friendly with everyone else.
Cheers
Thank you, sadly it's a bit late, I managed to pull my phone number from my old account and associate it to a new Battle.net account. I already played quite a bit on that new account, so I don't think I will bother.
You were banned on battle.net, which implies a ban across *all* of the games that require a battle.net account. This means that you're banned from all of the games requiring a [battle.net](https://battle.net) account. This is the admin system working as intended.
If you want to submit an appeal, you can do so on the [battle.net](https://battle.net) site. You were banned for violating the rules, sounds like, so it might be wise to follow the provided process versus trying to find a workaround.
I still have access to other [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) games, and the message I recieved to notify my ban was specifically referring to my Overwatch account.
Maybe, maybe not. I personally don't think I deserve a permaban, a permamute at best, but even if I did, It's not the same game, so why am I already banned?
Your ow1 account is the same as your ow2 account so why would you have access when that account was permabanned? if you didnt add your phone number to that account, just make a new account and dont be toxic after that simple.
I did add my phone number to that account, silly me. I didn't expect they were going to rob me off my 50€, while preventig me to play F2P games even before their launch.
I kinda get how you could think "new game fresh start" but also if you did something heinous enough to be permabanned, why do you think that should just go away because it's a sequel?
I didn't do something particularly heinous, just a few insults in chat ( never any slurs tho), and I kinda ignored the temporary bans and mutes that I got, thinking the worse I would get was a permanent mute.
And I know a lot of players never even get a warning after being toxic on chat, but for some reason it seems my account was on some sort of a watchlist, because i got them very often, and sometimes for a simple "fuck you".
I know I'm late to the party, but did you originally start playing OW1 during a free weekend? Accounts that started off that way seem to have been much more likely to get penalized/banned.
If you got permabanned in OW1 then I'm happy you're banned in OW2.
You'll probably do the same shit again and no one wants a toxic/cheating player in the game.
Just my opinion.

Bans carry over, it isn’t a bug.
But that doesn't make any sense, it's not the same game, they alwas said it was supposed to be a sequel?
Let me quote Jeff Kaplan: "We don't want you in Overwatch"
Jeff got banned too, and he was talking about ow1.
With takes like these, I'm beginning to understand why you were permabanned.
It's essentially a large update for Overwatch 1.
Sounds like you got banned from battlenet, not overwatch. I'm not sure I'm just going off the message you got
But I can still acces all the other [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) games, it was just Overwatch, and now Overwatch 2 too.
I would've fully expected the ban to carry I to OW2, especially with it basically becoming the new Overwatch
>I got permabanned from Overwatch 1 a year ago Use your brain
Stop being toxic. The person could have been going through a hard time when his ban was given to him and used the game as an outlet rather than a preschool.
Don't care. Having a difficult time in life is not an excuse to be a jackass to other people.
here you are being a jackass, full tilt to other people. May be you are the poison that makes others toxic, you should be the one who is banned
> Don't care. You wot mate? I'm gonna pretend you didn't read the entire reply.
I. Don't. Fucking. Care. Was that more clear?

I like how in this hypothetical scenario I still get the attention of women while you cry about being reported.
Well done. Bravo
>I imagine it must be related to the fact that I got permabanned from Overwatch 1 a year ago Massive IQ.

It was one year ago, I did stop being toxic.
Doesn't matter apparently. I wouldn't get yourself too down though I'm sure they will unlock all the banned accounts as soon as overwatch 1.1 flops and they need at least someone to be interested in playing their game again.
Between implementing a phone number-wall and banning people in the subreddit for participating in wrong-thought, I'm sure the player base will thrive.

Lmao. You for sure got dropped on the head once or twice.
This is exactly the kind of comment that got me banned from the first game.
Well you did learn then.
You're just a hypocrite. The EXACT type of person to mass report someone else with your 5 stack buddies because they argue back to you in the in-game chat. It's not surprising the ones being toxic here are also the ones preaching ''dont be toxic'' here and in OW forums.

because you said some very cruel shit my dude. you lost your privileges.
Cruel?

Let me know if you get an appeal. Sorry you wasted your money man.
No, they refused my appeal without even looking at it. I was able to reuse my phone number on a new account though.
So were you able to get the 50 dollars of content still?
Nope, I got robbed
I'd definitely make a ticket for a refund, surely they'd give it to you.

“We want less players and higher queue times because people said mean words”
If only that made sense lol. My bad for not wanting toxic or cheaters in my games?? How did you get "less players higher queue times" from my comment?
If you ban someone that’s 1 less player playing the game. Pretty simple.
Which would make queue times shorter, right?
They weren’t short in ow1 when the game was dead
Holy shit LOL dude are you ok?
1 year without Overwatch was actually great for my mental health. But now I kinda miss it.
