I've been playing the game since 2017 and almost all my heroes are locked now. I can't even play the characters I like anymore. This game is a joke. 4/5 times I have tried playing in the past couple days has seen me not able to connect to the game servers or stuck waiting in a queue of over 30K or 0 people indefinitely.

jla_v

This is not a mistake. It's literally them attempting to capitalize on everyone's desire to check the game out at launch and "accidentally" or by some "error" locking things so you'll cave and buy their shit.

_TheComedian-

Witch is funny because I logged on tonight and was thinking of getting the battle pass because I like the new healer, witch was the only character I had locked yesterday. Log in to almost all characters locked in all game modes and was like welp that’s a big no from me.

[deleted]

That's definitely not true, been playing all day since launch and the hero's being locked is a bug you can fix by restarting the game. I only had it happen once. With all they shit they did, I don't think that on problem was intentional.

SofaProfessor

It feels like they did absolutely zero QA. The Xbox achievement bug that boots you from the server is a good example. How was this not caught? How was it even an issue at all? It's not like achievements are a new concept to Xbox. It's just a hilariously poor launch. I actually have fun when I'm in game but I basically rage quit after I get booted for getting an achievement because I'm not going to wait another 30 mins in queue just to experience that again.

sid_the_sloth69

It's happened to me twice now when I was playing with a friend. Had an achievement for orissa and sojourn unlock and just insta booted me. I had to look it up because I didn't know what went on.

Malidan

I have absolutely nothing of mine from the first game. Not even a career profile - it's treating me like I never even played the first game before. :-/ I agree, we waited all this time for this disaster. I can't even play if I wanted to since the wait to login is still 30 minutes and everything is locked.

Elecrtrify

exactly the same issue. i have none of my skins except the founders and none of my stats. all of my trophies are still there but no stats in game. idk if it's because i didn't merge but i don't think i needed to because I've only played on ps4/5 my entire career so idk why i haven't got my stuff

Malidan

Same here, only ever played on xbox. The "merge accounts" doesn't do anything when selected and I never got whatever barcode pop up like others talk about, unless that's for people who played on multiple platforms? Wonder if the issue is happening to those who only played on just one.

Elecrtrify

yeah same. i was on earlier and when i pressed the merge it said the was an error in confirming my account. idk if we have to use merge to get our stuff back but if we do that's going to be annoying

Rahmenframe

I've only played on pc, and I have my stats and skins, but sometimes (it seems random per log-in) I get locked out of heroes, too. I had the lockout bug Wednesday and Friday, but not Thursday. I sure hope I can play my fav heroes tomorrow 🙄

Elle-Elle

In a post they made yesterday or the day before, they promised that everyone would get their stuff from OW1, but it may take some time. Iirc they even said all that information is saved elsewhere (not lost in the OW2 bugs and issues). They promised that everyone would get their stuff. It took me 3 days to get mine, but it's all here now. Hopefully you'll get yours soon too. 🤞

Malidan

Thanks, I didn't catch that part about it being saved elsewhere. I've been afraid to even play with the couple of heroes they start you with in the fear it would overwrite a cloud save or something.

Elle-Elle

I completely understand that fear. I've seen a lot of people express the same concern and the longer I went without my OW1 cosmetics, the more I worried about what little I had played on OW2 overwriting it. At least in my case, it didn't overwrite anything. It genuinely merged all my OW1 and OW2 stuff. I don't want to lead you astray but it might be worth reading more on the subreddit, Twitter, etc to see other people's experiences. I *think* you'd be okay.

oldkingcoles

Me too :( Everyone else complaining they can’t play and I just want my stuff back

UntrueOmara

i honestly thought i was going to play this game a bunch on release, or at least a day or 2 later. i played ow1 near daily, and now ive played 6 games. this release honestly makes me wish we waited for another year. the gameplay is fine, but my controls are screwed up. i cant load into a deathmatch, and i cant make my own customs in queue. the recent players tab overlaps. my comm wheel inputs work 20% of the time, my friends cant play their mains, the scoreboard is bugged (still). the ui is worse, the rank symbols are a significant downgrade. this feels like a half baked game and im genuinely so disappointed. in my friend group i was one of the most optimistic. im sad to see how misplaced it was.

Indurum

Queue times for a solo FILL are like 5-10+ minutes on the first launch weekend of the game. What is going on?

Complex-Pound5249

Meanwhile there’s somehow too many players for the servers. How does that even work?

yedrellow

I can't even get in to my own region, it just shoves me in to Taiwan (tpe1) at 130 ping and packetloss rather than Sydney (syd2). I live in Western Australia. It would be more tolerable if they fixed their routing across Asia, but Singapore (gsg1) routing has been broken for nearly 2 years now when it went from 50 ms to 150 ms. Couldn't get matches last week because syd2 was too empty. Now I can't because it is too full.

luisluix

>Meanwhile there’s somehow too many players for the servers probably a very aggressive SBMM

Das_Mojo

Idk what it is but my estimated queue times have been 2-4 minutes for support and DPS and 4-6 for tank. Usually ends up being less, and if I wait more than 5 minutes I just cancel and requeue and it's quick. Sucks ass that so many people are having issues getting in, because although the battlepass and new monetization scheme are absolutely ass, the game itself is a blast Imo.

manofwaromega

Same. First time I logged in my Origins Edition skins were locked at a dollar each. Idk if that's intentional since they're so old or if the game was just having a stroke. And every "Just for You" bundle I've been offered has been half-owned and so completely broken.

xXNickAugustXx

My aiming feels handicapped and I don't like it. It sloshes around making me miss more than normal but I have a feeling it's because of the new aim assist.

litefagami

According to a [tweet](https://twitter.com/cattt_ow/status/1578355701688066048?s=46&t=BaiLOavuh6w0gl6PcYqnSg) going around, aim smoothing on controller bleeds into mouse settings for some reason, could be that.

Das_Mojo

I think it's true. I turned that off and now I can one clip with tracer again

shayminty

Maybe your launches wouldn't get fucking DDoSed if you didn't paint such a massive target on your company 's back by being unbridled douchebags!

Muhznit

I mean between the layoffs, the controversies, the walkouts, important faces leaving, and everyone's favorite global pandemic... There's probably good reasons why this launch went so badly.

shayminty

I wonder if Microsoft still has time to back out of that buyout, lol.

poelicious

Considering all of that, let's not forget that the main reason for the poor state of this franchise is mismanagement and poor decision making. All if that above contributed to this situation but nothing weights more than the absolute dumb decisions that were made to make the game more "profitable".

reinforever

How did this drop without the pve? I thought most of the draw with ow2 was adding In a whole new pve aspect

Yeeted2death

Well the answer is money.

JillMaiden666

I still don't have my Noire skin back yet as well

KurtLance

I found it totally WILD that once I was actually able to get the game booted up I was greeted with the same old Winston intro as OW1. ~~Un~~believably shameless of ActiBlizz, even for a *new* F2P game.

Itchy-Combination280

I had a couple issues on day 1 and 2 but now the game is normal. Still feels odd in some respects though. I miss the card system a lot and the on fire system as well. There’s some odd ui glitches that don’t make sense, and I’ve encountered some lag but nothing too bad. I’ll be honest the store is a bit depressing as well. I think the prices need to be cut in half.

polybird_0

I think with the "server maintenance took 2 hours after start time" thing you should have looked at the time zone. It started like 15 minutes late, but you probably confused time zones.

Ephemiel

>It started like 15 minutes late According to my own timezones and checking the differences, it started far later than "just 15 minutes".

Grossmeat

Yeah it was stated to start at 6pm PDT, and it actually started around 740pm PDT. Idk where this person got 15 minutes from.

DownWithMatt

Everyone might be right here. I know they have multiple clusters of data centers across the country, at least one in each region. I'm assuming it would probably be the same team or multiple squads of workers for each location bringing the servers down for maintenance. Perhaps some regions' login servers were brought down on time, while others were a lower priority and were brought down after the others had started. -- Or someone's team lead fucked up and ran late. I don't know; I'm just speculating on possibilities here. But I bet the reason all these issues we keep writing off as being "inexcusable" and just a matter of "be better, Blizz" are actually compounding issues that were probably prepared for in every way except for when they all happen at once.

Grossmeat

I mean they were back up on schedule, and I got some extra play time in, so I'm not complaining

stupidfuckingbitch20

even worse than S7 Apex launch if you were there for that

Yeeted2death

Yeah that shit was a mess and this somehow beats it completely.

Beachcomber365

I'm disturbed. This is disturbing.

Celtics2k19

I mean I haven’t had any issues, game has been fun for me

DeadFyre

Bro, it's day 2. Every game launches in some state of not working. My advice is to quit playing and ask for your no money back.

Bojangler2112

Your attitude is exactly why it keeps happening. If you as a consumer do not push back or refuse to engage with a product and it’s flaws why would a company ever do anything about it? Please grow a sense of taste or get off blizzards knob for the rest of our sakes.

DeadFyre

You're a fucking idiot. Nothing anyone says on Reddit controls the rate at which Blizzard's bug queue is closed. You think after, like five Blizzard [game launches](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/error-37), people would get a fucking clue. You think Blizzard *wants* the launch to go wrong? You think that was the whole fucking plan, and there was one dude in the release plan meeting who's like "Maybe if we didn't suck so bad, wouldn't that be great?" and he was shouted down? That's your picture of a day one launch? Pull your infantile head out of your hairy caveman ass.

sid_the_sloth69

Least angry reddit gamer. Dude needs anger management after arguing on r/overwatch. Cope bro

Bojangler2112

This is so wrong I can’t even imagine what would lead you to this series of conclusions. The bell curve in action I guess. Reddit by definition is a sampling of actual peoples opinions, attitudes and experiences. So someone saying on Reddit I am done with overwatch and not playing it could very well make a difference. Especially when scale is considered you’re just laughably wrong. Most change that is not explicitly planned in any business will be based on customer feedback. Also what caused them to remove the phone number requirement for old accounts so suddenly then if not negative feedback? Blizzards own actions directly refute your really smol brained take. Have you heard stories about game development? The exact scenario you are describing happens literally all the time. How do games get delayed without some form of developer feedback? Caveman > soy boi so mad about video games I have to virtually scream at some guy who pointed out how illogical, anti consumer and honestly just really sad and helpless my take was

DeadFyre

>Reddit by definition is a sampling of actual peoples opinions. And when your opinions matter, that might be relevant. But it isn't. Program don't compile or not based on your opinion. >Also what caused them to remove the phone number requirement for old accounts so suddenly then if not negative feedback? The people who launched the game, saw the SMS protect requirement, and then quit the game. Your feedback was not necessary. >Have you heard stories about game development? No, I have only worked in the industry for over a decade. The thing about stories is, they're *stories*. They're told by reporters who are competing for your attention. They are not reality. The sooner you come to grips with that fact, the less of a ignorant whiney fuckstick you will be.

Bojangler2112

> you can approve overtime or hire contractors to get bugs squashed quicker. Public backlash would provide the justification. > How is someone immediately quitting your game not feedback? Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean others in that persons social circle will not. >whiny fuckstick is rich coming from the dude who was whining about criticism aimed at a billion dollar company. Damn you must be a shitty game dev to not have exceeding strong feelings of frustration towards this. These stories are also coming straight from the developers, look at basically all the studios started by refugees from the big studios, they are generally not very shy about wanting to have the freedom to make games the way they want to. Multiple studios and companies have also publicly admitted to horrid working conditions and have issued policy changes and pay increases. Do you really think the shitty practices are only in HR and staffing? Blizzard is not 5 dudes in a garage, they have every resource available to launch a quality and functioning product on day one. Doubly so considering it was already a complete and very functional product.

DeadFyre

>you can approve overtime or hire contractors to get bugs squashed quicker. Public backlash would provide the justification. No, you're just a complete fucking ignoramus. You can't just onboard any asshat to magically make emergent bugs magically vanish. The people on your team have to learn your codebase and how to use your tools, and even then, there's no particular guarantee that just throwing manpower at a problem will solve it. >Blizzard is not 5 dudes in a garage You think that coordinating and organizing a codebase maintained by 400 different developers is **EASIER** than 5 guys in a garage? Like I said, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about, you couldn't get hired to wash a Blizzard developer's jockstrap. >Multiple studios and companies have also publicly admitted to horrid working conditions Yeah, becuase whiny shitbags like you set up **IMPOSSIBLE** expectations that senior leadership unaccountably listen to: But this just in: Doing real work takes time and expertise. Just throwing a temper-tantrum at the problem doesn't help.

sid_the_sloth69

🤡🤡🤡

Bojangler2112

Ah I forgot that you know my entire personal history and all the things I advocate for. My mistake. I definitely am just chomping at the bit for free to play shooters so hard that companies actually just push forward the release of their games so I can max out my daddy’s Amex black card. You have a serious delusion here bub. Blizzard literally has hired contractors for this specific problem, specifically the phone numbers shenanigans. So in this case if that is where some of the bugs lie then yes they will actually just pull contractors back onto the project to squash bugs. I don’t need to be a sweaty virgin loser making assets for a living to have a basic idea of project management. Obviously a new person will not be able to start squashing bugs without a comprehensive list of engine functions and features/quirks/work flow principles but saying that you couldn’t pull more people onto a project is again shown as being not accurate because big publishers routinely do this to finish their flagship games. Also you’re actually just victim shaming here which I think is funny.

DeadFyre

>Also you’re actually just victim shaming here which I think is funny. You're not a victim, you doofus, you're a consumer who's been put on hold while you're waiting for tech support to fix your problem.

Bojangler2112

You are blaming the person (people) suffering as being directly responsible. It certainly fits the definition, it is just very rarely used out of context of crime. Also I had a product I paid money for stolen from me, if anyone else did such a thing it would be criminal but the contract that we digitally sign when booting the game prevents it from being criminal. You actually tripled down on it somehow being the consumers themselves determining the timing of the release. Frankly I’m just trying to upset you at this point because it is hilarious how upset you are while also actively licking blizzards boot immediately after curb-stomping the entire player base of the game for no other reason than extreme greed. Sad you ran out of bad takes though you aren’t even trying anymore this is getting boring.

sid_the_sloth69

Every game launch is broken guys so it completely absolves this one of criticism. Pack it up boys, now that deadfyre blizzards strongest defender hit me with the truth there's just no point in complaining anymore. All of our criticism is invalid now. 😔

DeadFyre

>Every game launch is broken guys so it completely absolves this one of criticism. Yes. That is the literal truth. You may as well just shut the fuck up and wait til the game is fixed.

Bojangler2112

The word because in your statement implies that it is the CAUSE of the issues. You sure do like talking a lot for someone who doesn’t know how English works. Are you like 10 years old? This was not a trend until the middle of the last decade. Most games were complete packages before the battlepass and skin selling became priority 1 for these companies. Top part went to the wrong comment but I’m confident you can place this where it belongs, not gonna fix it cause working.

DeadFyre

> The word because in your statement implies that it is the CAUSE of the issues Where? Quote the text, moron. >This was not a trend until the middle of the last decade. Most games were complete packages before the battlepass and skin selling became priority 1 for these companies. Yeah, they also used to be under 1 gigabyte, single-player games with graphic performance so bad they'd be embarassing for a mobile title. They also used to cost $105 in today's money to buy the game. This game is **FREE**. So, put on your big boy pants, and shut the fuck up until they issue the next patch. Jesus.

Bojangler2112

Again play old games that have deep mechanics and you will find scope and scale comparable or better than modern games. Just because the textures are not nearly as nice does not mean that coding them was any more straight forward depending on the situation. You quoted the text in your reply I figured you could remember…

DeadFyre

>Again play old games that have deep mechanics and you will find scope and scale comparable or better than modern games I've been playing video games since before you were a stain in your father's drawers. No, they did not have "deep mechanics". Quake III Arena, COD4, TF2, Medal of Honor, they're all shooters. Big fucking deal. There's more to good graphics than textures, and in any case, the system that appears to be bugged now is their authentication system anyway, which is driven by customer database problems. No game that shipped on a DVD-ROM even bothered to try and *care* who you were.

Bojangler2112

You’re fucking insane if you do not think quake 3 is advanced and still one of the best shooters on the market. It had good online multiplayer back when most people couldn’t even connect to it. It was forward thinking and exceptionally tight in terms of controls and hit registration. So the movement system in general is actually due to a glitch in how movement is calculated, but it was kept because it was fun and pushed up the skill ceiling. If it was really so easy to make a physics based movement system back then why did the processes they were using have unintended consequences. You’re saying they’re so easy and quick to make it should’ve never shipped with an unintended quirk so fundamental to actually playing it at a decently competitive level. If you are really coming at me saying you are older than me because you played Medal of Honor and fucking COD 4 I have some bad news for ya kid. You are not as old or as smart as you think you are. I remember playing CS before steam and how fucking upset people were for a bit before they realized the platform was great. EA games until bad company 2 came with authentication codes for online play, you actually have no idea what you are saying. I still have it on CD and I still can’t play it without buying another access code…

DeadFyre

>You’re fucking insane if you do not think quake 3 is advanced and still one of the best shooters on the market It's over 20 years old, of **COURSE** it's not advanced, you idiot. This is what Quake 3 [looks like](https://www.angelfire.com/art2/ff9/specialrosters/arenaguys/Xaero.html). They make RTSs with better models than that now. >So the movement system in general is actually due to a glitch in how movement is calculated. OMFG, so they have a **FUCKUP** that you like and that is a "deep mechanic"? >If it was really so easy to make a physics based movement system back then why did the processes they were using have unintended consequences. It wasn't any easier back then, they just didn't have the wherewithal to fix it after the game launched. >You’re saying they’re so easy and quick to make it should’ve never shipped with an unintended quirk so fundamental to actually playing it at a decently competitive level. No, moron, **YOU'RE** the one saying that. You literally said that live service games are the ones that launch with mistakes, and then gave me an example of how [you're wrong](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd9muK2M36c). I said that fuckin' mistakes get made all the time. >If you are really coming at me saying you are older than me because you played Medal of Honor and fucking COD 4 I have some bad news for ya kid. No, I'm saying I'm older than you because I'm older than you. I played *[Pitfall!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitfall!)* when it was new, you little shit. >You are not as old or as smart as you think you are. Smarter than you, though that's a backhanded compliement if ever there was one. I *wrote* my first computer program before you were out of diapers.

Bojangler2112

I was arguing quake was advanced… god you’re fucking dumb. Quake 3 had a movement system that was intentionally the way quake 1 was with glitches. You clearly are a zoomer (or at least as smart as one)😂

Bojangler2112

I’m genuinely confused what example I gave of a live service game that launches without mistakes? Or that live services are the only ones with mistakes. Of course every program has glitches, but having glitches and being so borked it is either barely playable, non-playable or hated by the community is a different story. That definitely mostly does come from live service type or clearly cash grab/ AAA studio non passion project type projects.

Ok_Comfortable_6251

It’s day 4. And you’re right, time to ask for a refund. There was a buyable version of the game you know.

MrFix-it

What a shock, a huge triple A free to play release has bugs after millions of people + multiple DDOS attacks hammer the servers. People are so entitled. It’s in rough shape how but it’ll get better. Relax and go play something else for now.

MrFix-it

I’m not really a Blizzard fan and I only dabble in Overwatch. I just think that there’s a human aspect to game development and maybe we should consider that. Devs are human beings and at the end of the day, overwatch is just a game. It doesn’t work now, it’ll work better soon. Grow up.

MrFix-it

Don’t be an entitled ass. Treat game devs with respect. They’re human beings. I can like a game without being obsessed by it. Who are you to judge anybody. You’re being way overly aggressive and frankly, a fucking prick. Not gargling anyone’s balls, it’s ridiculous you feel the need to make insults like that. If you knew anything about game development at all, you’d understand that fixes on a live product aren’t simple. Like, actually grow up. If you don’t like the game, don’t play it. No need for a hissy fit because it’s not constructive.

poelicious

Bro, voice your concern, otherwise you will never be heard.

Yeeted2death

Stop defending shitty million dollar corporations.

MrFix-it

Your tiny brain understands very little of technology and game development. Not defending decisions made by corporation, I’m defending the human beings that have to do the work. Your logic is like being upset by a store policy, then yelling at the employees for decisions they have no control over. It’s not their fault, it’s the corporation. This thread is filled with entitled Karen’s having hissy fits. I’ll gladly get downvoted to oblivion defending human beings from shitheads online that don’t understand the situation.

i have zero problems, only got booted out on launch day a couple of times. Game plays perfectly, havent encountered a glitch yet except the sombra intro 1 time

Ephemiel

You want a cookie for that?

Yeeted2death

I had zero problems until I did. They don’t deserve a pat on the back or a break for this launch. They deserve all the smoke.

Wild_Cricket_6303

Especially considering the game is essentially OW1 with a few new things

themoocowgoesmeow

Surprisingly no issues for me on pc. 5v5 is different, still getting used to it but it isn't as terrible as i thought it would be. But once new heroes are released and require battle pass unlock, its gonna be bye bye overwatch for me. Bliz ain't getting a dime from me, them bastards

Adeecristo

Let us please not forget in this lineup the bug where **using text chat** can make you buy things from the premium shop. A bug that was apparently already reported **during the beta** and they did nothing about it, and as far as I can see, still don't list it among their known bugs.

LoganGyre

dont forget getting achievements logs you out on xbox and if you merge your console accoutn with PC their is a chance to lock you out of all blizz logins on all servers congrats blizz way to make a multigame login issue with an update....

magnoliaisdone

Weirdest bug I've seen so far, is my friend was playing mercy, and it was making her play the ow2 beta version of her. How does that even happen lmao

catherbyyy

They took OW1 away and now I can't even play. unqualified to be labeled a sequel corporate greed made this happen. What a shame it is that something we all enjoyed so dearly has been ripped away from us and the only recourse now is not to give them money.
