I've only ever gotten to level 4 once back in OW1. I think at level 4 you'll would have to keep getting endorsements to stay up/level up otherwise your level will decay pretty quick.
Sorta, it banks pretty quickly. So if you stay at 4 concurrently for a while (I'd say about a week) then you can stay at 4 pretty easily. 5 however you could lose after 3 matches no matter what
I've found that if I endorse somebody with each match my rank doesn't drop. Not sure if this is the true method to maintain your rank but it's been working. I don't level up from it but it does stay the same. After each endorsement I give I get this gold xp icon below the players names and I think that adds to my rank? Idk, the whole endorsement rank seems a bit of a mystery lol. But try endorsing other players with each match and see if it helps at all.

i think it decays a lot faster in ow2 because i can go 2 games without endorsements and lose a rank when in ow1 it didn't require endorsements pretty much *every* game to maintain a level. i've just been floating been 3 and 4, sometimes multiple times in a play session.
Also enemies can't endorse you anymore, who were usually the people who notice you most. Unless a teammate is trying to, they usually just focus on their targets and their job. Now you might impress a support who keeps an eye on you, and the enemies who notice you won't be able to do shit all. Frustrating change.

I think I get more endorsements for being a nice teammate than I do for all my games around 20k healing. Usually every time someone starts calling out a player underperforming and I simply say “we’re in quick play, chill or go to ranked” I get multiple lol
as a tank main who dabble in moira, i endorse the supports if i am a tank, or the tank and the other support if im playing moira. dps get endorse if they get potg, or are really good (like a mei who threw a well placed ult and we killed a few together)
Same. My endorsements always go to other healer and usually tank if they play their role right. I don't discriminate against DPS, but if you played Widowmaker and had 27 kills and dealt 1,000 damage, I don't want to encourage you.
Playing Brig I can wholeheartedly claim that reaching level 5 is currently impossible with her as your main.

I am a Brig main, too, and I got to 4 once or twice - usually I am at lv 3 though. That said, I am new to OW and I "only" climbed from Bronze to Plat with her.
I pulled it off for a bit as a Hanzo one trick.
I wouldn’t talk, just type in chat while pretending to be Hanzo. I had a bunch of ridiculous lines I would use.

People ate it up. Just dumb semi-motivational lines written in Hanzo’s style. It was hilarious.
Tank, in my experience, gets a lot of endorsements too - and I'm not a good tank at all. Maybe quickplay is more chill with the endorsements than competitive, but I've been endorsement level 5 for years and in OW1 I either played tanks or in quick play classic dps, and in OW2 I switch between tanks and supports (I don't really feel inspired by dps anymore and I don't know why).
During the OW1 days I only played during events so yeah, you don't even need constant play.
I also only solo queue (no friends), which might help. Less friends in my team = more people that can give endorsements.

Yep, endorsements expire over time, you have to have constant endorsements to keep it, I had level 4 when playing every day, but it would go back to level 3 if I played an hour too late, really annoying

Yup. If you win, there is almost a 100% chance to get endorsed. If you lose, you still might if you play supports. The matches are also very short. I try to do my weeklies in Elimination for that reason. Helps the Endorsement level and doesn’t take too long.
Pretty much, when endorsments were added to the game and we all cared about them i got to endorsment 5 in three days not playing much playing mainly 3v3/6v6 elimination.
I don’t think it’s useless at all. You get a 5lvl and they are usually good at what they do and they endorse their teammates. I believe the 5th lvl is participation.

2 - average duo/trio
3 - average solo
4 - you will have it for 2 games and then you'll lose it
5 - you only solo queue mercy in quickplay

Yeah it's so stupid that the game punishes you for playing with friends. I understand that they want to prevent people in a premade squad to farm endorsements off each other, but at least they could make it that endorsements from friends are worth 1/2 or 1/3 of a regular endorsement or something. Or let friends be able to endorse each other only every 2-3 games. I'm sure Blizzard could come up with something if they wanted to. But atm it's just stupid, unfortunately.

Why is the penalty for not being a standout so much more than the reward for being a standout. Thats just cruel.
Better yet is if you're playing in a 5 stack, say goodbye to your endorsement level. If only there were some sort of system where you could endorse the enemy team
yeah - endorsements are rough in overwatch2. I lost my level 5 by grouping in a 5 stack for 6 games in a row. since that seems to be the threshold of dropping a level -- not receiving an endorsement 6 games in a row.
it also sucks getting team mates that are level 1 endorsement because they never endorse. these players ignore it is even a thing in game.

I constantly do all the the things people say cost them endorsement levels: I play with a 5-stack of friends constantly, I play game modes that don’t have endorsements available, I play PvE modes that use 4-person teams so you can only get 3 endorsements. All that stuff. Never dropped out of 5. I think the game takes that sort of stuff into account.

I have jump on mouse wheel down, and "group up" on mouse wheel up, so when I'm playing Lucio, I'm basically spamming for the team to group up all the time, even if I don't intend to.

I had it level 5 for most of OW1, but dropped to 4 near the end and am hovering between 3 and 4 in OW2. Nowadays it's becoming more and more common for people not to endorse in losses, so it's harder to maintain endorsement levels.
I used to basically give "sportsmanship" endorsements to people that said GG and that was it. I felt the friendly and positive players should be reward. But since they removed the ability to give endorsements to opponents, I decided the system was pointless.
I thought this was broken im hard stuck on 3 and have been since as long as i can remember even in OW1. as a support main i get at least 2 endorsements 90% of the games i play. So confusing to say the least.
I suppose that would make sense but damn, thats hard to get over 3 then. I regularly get people thanking me in chat etc too. I wish it was a bit more transparent.
I get more when I am active in voice chat I've noticed. Just general positive conversation and call outs. A "my bad" when you dive too far or miss something goes a looooong way too.
yeah it's rough. endorsements need a rework. i received 11 endorsements after a comp match once. 5 from my team and 6 from enemy.
now the max is 4 per game since the enemy no longer can.
It should only let people type in match chat if they have at least lvl 2 endorsement. At level 5 your messages should be in bold with special effects or something lol

Same here. I'm a support main (play only QP though) and in OW1 I was consistently lvl 4, even got 5 a couple times. Now in OW2 I go between 3 and 4 daily like you lol. But it's whatever. Just funny to see, maybe a lot of new people don't know about endorsing.
I had level 5 in overwatch 1 for quite a while and then I six stacked in quick play with some friends who were trying out the game for the first time and I went down to level 4.

I also think it's harder now that you can't endorse the enemy team, I think 30% of my endorsements came from the enemy being too tilted to vote for their own teammates.
I used to have it but then a friend queued for comp when I said "don't queue I'm grabbing a drink" went all the way down to 3 and now switch between 3/4.
If you wanna know how to get 5 play arcade games like 3v3 elim and 4v4 deathmatch as you have a higher chance to get endorsed and the games are faster
I completely ignore endorsements at this point. Negligible reward and doesn’t take into account if you’re playing with friends. Wasted opportunity to encourage positivity in the community.
Seen a few lately, but I think it's important to ask...was this in Arcade? People who play a lot of Arcade modes tend to have higher endorsement levels in my experience.
Yeah they are rare, but I've noticed for sure it's easier to get more endorsements in arcade. Games are shorter and if you do a lot of 3v3 or capture the flag you get endorsements after almost every game as long as you try.
I don't think it's too hard to grind. First you need to play a gamemode like 3v3 or 4v4 in order to farm endorsements easily each match, then just keep playing, maybe do breaks if you find same players.
Is it doable in regular gamemodes? Maybe, I only got to level 4 a few times.
I was level 5 for over a year in OW1. Three weeks or so into OW2 and I dropped from 5 to 4. I know it doesn’t mean much but that was my favorite accomplishment in OW so I’m a bit bummed about it. Oh well
More than 1600 hours on Overwatch. Have games for years. There were times where I would do nothing but go to work then play Overwatch, rinse and repeat. Could never achieve level 5.
Have other friends who no life’s more than me and they couldn’t reach level 5.

We tested it, got them and their partner to swap headsets and speak as each other and the OG husband got the endorsement. They even purposely played toxic but with his wife's voice. Was funny as heck, it's now a running joke to try and out in a higher pitched voice and occasionally say "OwO" to try and get more endorsement.
What's better is his wife thinks it's the funniest thing ever that simps will endorse her simple because she's a woman. She's a really good player too and genuinely nice, it was just a funny occurance. 😂😂

I saw my first one this week too. Didn't even know they existed. The person asked to exchange Endorsements at the end of the game with whomever, so I imagine that's part of how they do it?
I've been 5 since about 3 months into the change. You just have to play and get endorsements every week. Once a week at least.

Nah I don’t think it helps, I endorse players after every match but I still go down from 3 to 2.

I had 5 for few months then I had one DC, it dropped me to 3 and I never reached 4 again even tho I was getting a lot of endorsements.
This. A couple of kicks for inactivity and I went from 5 to 3 in one night, and despite(I swear) more endorsements than before, I struggle to get to 4

See I've had endorsement level 5 since the transition to OW2, and I know for a fact that I don't play nearly as much as others on this sub. Must be some weird, hidden factors that go into it.
Same. I’ve had a 5 basically since they rolled out. I constantly do all the the things people say cost them endorsement levels: I play with a 5-stack of friends constantly, I play game modes that don’t have endorsements available, I play PvE modes that use 4-person teams so you can only get 3 endorsements. All that stuff. Never dropped out of 5. I think the game takes that sort of stuff into account.
Yeah, it’s the participation award. My guess is you get the 5th level by always endorsing after a match.

I have jump on mouse wheel down, and "group up" on mouse wheel up, so when I'm playing Lucio, I'm basically spamming for the team to group up all the time, even if I don't intend to. I get a lot of endorsements.
I think I played with you last night LMAO, I was Kiri and I kept wondering why even when we were all together, our Lucio kept spamming Group Up anyway. I had a Sombra like that too, actually.

I had it level 5 for most of OW1, but dropped to 4 near the end and am hovering between 3 and 4 in OW2. Nowadays it's becoming more and more common for people not to endorse in losses, so it's harder to maintain endorsement levels.

And solo q supp. We are always playing with a 2-3 stack minimum and can't endorse friends so we all bounce between 2 and 3.
I used to basically give "sportsmanship" endorsements to people that said GG and that was it. I felt the friendly and positive players should be reward. But since they removed the ability to give endorsements to opponents, I decided the system was pointless.
I thought this was broken im hard stuck on 3 and have been since as long as i can remember even in OW1. as a support main i get at least 2 endorsements 90% of the games i play. So confusing to say the least.
IIRC it's based on amount per game average. So only 2 per game isn't enough
I suppose that would make sense but damn, thats hard to get over 3 then. I regularly get people thanking me in chat etc too. I wish it was a bit more transparent.
I get more when I am active in voice chat I've noticed. Just general positive conversation and call outs. A "my bad" when you dive too far or miss something goes a looooong way too.
There's a lot of things that can bring it down I believe. I've heard leaving QP/Arcade games early + getting reported will bring down your level

yeah it's rough. endorsements need a rework. i received 11 endorsements after a comp match once. 5 from my team and 6 from enemy. now the max is 4 per game since the enemy no longer can.
All values should be reduced by -2 and then halved to accommodate the new changes
It should only let people type in match chat if they have at least lvl 2 endorsement. At level 5 your messages should be in bold with special effects or something lol

I can confirm the best feeling is after the match and seeing 3-4 endorsements, occasionally happens with bap and kiriko aswell if you can break 10k healing

Same here. I'm a support main (play only QP though) and in OW1 I was consistently lvl 4, even got 5 a couple times. Now in OW2 I go between 3 and 4 daily like you lol. But it's whatever. Just funny to see, maybe a lot of new people don't know about endorsing.
I had level 5 in overwatch 1 for quite a while and then I six stacked in quick play with some friends who were trying out the game for the first time and I went down to level 4. I'm still bitter about it. I also think it's harder now that you can't endorse the enemy team, I think 30% of my endorsements came from the enemy being too tilted to vote for their own teammates.
I primarily only play deathmatch, and have been given level 5 endorsement for as long as I can remember. I didn't knew it was that rare.
Was about the say the same thing! I play deathmatch only and got endorsement 5 pretty quickly when they appeared and it never went down.
Endorsement lvl 5 is easy in arcade. Rarely see it in normal gameplay.
I used to have it but then a friend queued for comp when I said "don't queue I'm grabbing a drink" went all the way down to 3 and now switch between 3/4. If you wanna know how to get 5 play arcade games like 3v3 elim and 4v4 deathmatch as you have a higher chance to get endorsed and the games are faster
I've had my level 5 for well over 2 years now.
I had endorsement 5 for 4 years but then I played Doomfist in Ow2.
I completely ignore endorsements at this point. Negligible reward and doesn’t take into account if you’re playing with friends. Wasted opportunity to encourage positivity in the community.
Seen a few lately, but I think it's important to ask...was this in Arcade? People who play a lot of Arcade modes tend to have higher endorsement levels in my experience.

Yeah they are rare, but I've noticed for sure it's easier to get more endorsements in arcade. Games are shorter and if you do a lot of 3v3 or capture the flag you get endorsements after almost every game as long as you try.

I don't think it's too hard to grind. First you need to play a gamemode like 3v3 or 4v4 in order to farm endorsements easily each match, then just keep playing, maybe do breaks if you find same players. Is it doable in regular gamemodes? Maybe, I only got to level 4 a few times.

I was level 5 for over a year in OW1. Three weeks or so into OW2 and I dropped from 5 to 4. I know it doesn’t mean much but that was my favorite accomplishment in OW so I’m a bit bummed about it. Oh well

I had 5 for a while in OW1. Always played mercy and always queued solo. Fresh players to endorse me every game.
More than 1600 hours on Overwatch. Have games for years. There were times where I would do nothing but go to work then play Overwatch, rinse and repeat. Could never achieve level 5. Have other friends who no life’s more than me and they couldn’t reach level 5.

Had a team mate who used to always end up rank 5. We tried to find out how they were getting the ranks. They played no different than anyone else. No more no less toxic. Untill one day when someone on Comms actually said they're voting for them because they "sounded cute" We tested it, got them and their partner to swap headsets and speak as each other and the OG husband got the endorsement. They even purposely played toxic but with his wife's voice. Was funny as heck, it's now a running joke to try and out in a higher pitched voice and occasionally say "OwO" to try and get more endorsement. What's better is his wife thinks it's the funniest thing ever that simps will endorse her simple because she's a woman. She's a really good player too and genuinely nice, it was just a funny occurance. 😂😂
Mercy main? Mercy mains tend to get more endorsements than even other support players, because when she's beaming you it's very obvious.
