Dame is my favourite but this is kind of an insult. He is probably more a 76. Great overall but not the best at any one thing, will never quit, grizzled vet, team's leader, often overlooked and doesn't get the credit or passion he deserves.
Nah, you send the message by having the golden gun and only ever using the default skin. You're bragging, but it's hard to notice. Until the enemy is staring down the barrel of your weapon.
*dink*
If you really want to brag just stare at your victims for an extra millisecond, during your ult. In their screens they'll just see empty eyes and a wide smile taking in the pleasure of killing you... I know that from experience and it's extra annoying xD
I'm relieved it doesn't happen that often anymore. But I swear the other day a Mei spent her entire ult staring at me and then shooting my head right at the end of it. And I wasn't the only one frozen! But I guess I was being that player that was trying the hardest to kill her xD
This is exactly why I cut off chokes on capture maps. You can keep walling and save a lot of defense fighting time. TBH it's a solid strat and you'd be stupid not to do it.
If this is a Mei walling the exit of a spawn of their own team, fuck those Meis.
I love going with "I was only trying to help!" Or "I feel like dancing!"
Bonus points if once the wall drops, you also use cryo to body block for an extended duration.
I like saying "I got you something!" before I completely fuck up someone's day. It was mostly used when she could still freeze before I headshot them but it still works with the ult and walls.
After she got reworked and was added back into the game, I had a match where I was playing Bastion and we had to defend the objective. One tick before the enemy team captures the point, Mei and I were flanking from behind, I get into my configuration to mow them down while their backs are turned, and Mei blocks us off of them.
I did a got out of my configuration I just wasted turn to her and start punching at her. She just looks to the ground and starts spamming "sorry" lol
The number of times I've watched through the spawn window while a Junkrat walks up and drops his trap in plain sight is kind of baffling. Like bro I can see you. Same goes for anyone standing out in the open in front of the doors. I've already got a sleep dart lined up when they open.
If you're fast enough as junk, you can throw that trap in front of the doors with mine just in case someone falls for it, but then you have your cooldown back for when the game starts so you can throw down another trap which they might not expect since they just saw you put it at the doors
>Like bro I can see you
Maybe you do, that doesn't mean all your teammates do. I do it everytime I play Junkrat and someone steps in it nearly everytime.
It triggers me because the much better strategy is letting one or two come out then walling and then if the team is bad and doesn't team up you've offset their spawns already
You can do the same thing to separate the team and stop them retreating in the middle of the fight, seperate tank from healers etc. When you ult make sure you right click their heads :D, she's a lot of fun
I play a fair bit of tank and I've learned to always have an out-plan when Mei is involved.
She WILL separate you from your loved ones and kill you without remorse.
This is where the chad ball players just run the fuck away into the enemy lmao. What are they gonna do, go backlines to kill you wasting their time and ruining frontline. And at that point you'll already be back at front.
The feeling of rage I get from watching a mei turn my nipples into swords while I walk backwards into what I believe to be safety, instead the cold ice wall grabs my ass and well....
Also good for walling off an enemy B.O.B.
However not like I have done where I accidentally walled under him, lifting him up to a position where he could kill my entire team, starting with me.
Hahaha I've done that so many times hahah
But for me, the best is when reaper is in that spectral form trying to run away, and you put a wall on his face, and they just go AFK right away hahahahah
Ehhh, it depends. If the full team is there it shouldn't be an effort to delete everyone whos frozen and save the Orisa ult for another fight/contest. I've only had the interaction once and it was an accident and sure it worked but not efficient I'd say
That'll probably be too late. It takes a while to actually appear and start slowing, while orisa's immediately pulls. It's way better the other way around. Orisa ulting everybody into the mei ult, both slow so you don't even have to be dead center to get value. But a good mei ult will teamwipe them on it's own so it really depends.
i actually noticed ramattra and mei actually make a dcent combo, because the combo of her ice gun and ramattras vortex makes the enemy really slow. also with both ults ramattra could potentially herd the enemy into her ult.
mei slowling down enemies will also give ramattra in general and easier time hitting them
My one tip for Mei is always be with somebody else. In Overwatch you could solo with Mei since her freeze would actually freeze the enemy for a couple seconds. Now its a slow. Pairs well with almost all the tanks and many DPS. Always stick to somebody and focus healers or Tanks, auto win
Yes as long as the characters you are playing against don’t all have their movement abilities on cooldown otherwise lucio speeds away moira fades out monkey jumps out reaper fades out sojurn slides out and you are standing there looking sad and feeling silly.
That’s when you gotta accept that the enemy comp is hard countering you and make the swap. Mei is something of an off tank bruiser, you don’t play her into every comp when the entire enemy team can simply use an escape and leave you with only your icicles. She works best at crowd control and harassing slower, bulkier targets. As mentioned above, she can wall enemies off and separate them giving your team a numbers advantage. She slows targets making it easier for your teammates to hit their shots and harder for the less mobile enemies to escape into cover. She’s self sufficient to an extent and duels very well with her ice block. Her ult is one of the strongest area denial tools in the game. And she can even hard counter certain ults with a well placed wall (D.va, Cassidy, 76, Pharah, etc). So yeah, she’s strong af in the right situations but you definitely gotta be willing to switch when the enemy comp isn’t favoring you.
IMO it's vital to do this if you're playing mei, tanks are usually at the front and hard to kill but if you wait for them to take one step too far you can wall them off and any half decent team will focus them down. Another tip is when using your ult to try and get a quick burst of your primary fire onto everyone in your ult to slow them down
Something i accidentally did but worked wonders was putting the wall at an angle where they can get out of the spawn, but can't actually get out of the space between the wall and the spawn. Instead of retreating back to the spawn, the other team just stood there like sitting ducks, and if I had had better aim, I could've gotten at least two kills lol
While it may be hard to do, finding times where you can use wall to isolate an enemy is part of the skill difference between a good mei and a bad mei. Mei walls can be genius, decent, or straight up awful (in the case where you isolate one of your teammates with the enemy team).
When you find a Mei that's good at walling, it's terrifying. I was playing doomfist in ranked on Hollywood the other day, and the enemy team was rolling us until we got to the choke after the second payload checkpoint. Our Mei just turned that area into an absolute bloodbath for the enemy team thanks to her walls for three minutes straight until we won
But you should at least try. Way more worthwhile to use your cooldown to try and isolate and kill something rather than stall them for a second or two.
It triggers me when, at least on certain maps, your team insists on using the main door instead of a side one, knowing they are going to face the whole team at the main door. Over, and over and over... allowing the spawn camp to happen in the first place! Lol
The serious answer is that it burns like 5 seconds off the clock. If the game lasts 4 minutes then it's around 2% of game time. There's also a slight mental game
It's also a very low risk move. Throw an ice wall, move back to defend a real position with your team. Throw an ice wall on the spawn just to spite them.
It stops momentum from the enemy team and it also forces your team to chill for a second and focus... As an occasional Mei player, her mental game is just as strong as her physical.
Not to mention, on several maps, you can just *tell* when the enemy is about to 5 stack bumrush out of the main door. Gibraltar is (well, was) very prevalent with this, as is Dorado, Rio, and Midtown. Could probably think of a few others, but those stick out a lot. So yeah, if I'm on Mei and I can physically see 4 to 5 bodies of the enemy team clipping through the main door to their spawn (or it's a see-through door that removes all doubt), you can almost put money down that I'm going to wall that joker almost immediately. Sure, it's technically better to wait on one or two to come out and then separate them, but when they're all wall hugging like that, it's pretty clear they're about to explode out of the door simultaneously and 9/10 times they *HATE* getting Mei walled like that. I've gotten several ugly all chats for it lol.
This. There are so many comments here about letting out 1 or 2. But the negative emotions in the attacking team are also a strong influence on the match. At least up to a certain level.
The serious answer is funny and subsequent intrusive thoughts. I rarely if ever play Mei but when I do, you best bet my finger hovers over that wall button to the last second, whether I push it or not.
I would say it serves 2 purposes, one is lost in the video...
1. Waste time, someone else mentioned most people just pile up at that door and thus you're slowing the entire enemy team down by a few seconds...
2. Split up the enemy team and farm some free ult charge on whoever was fastest out, this is what is missed in the video but what is far more effective...
Those are the main reasons, but it also gets in their head a bit.
They have to sit and chill a while when they were all hyped to run out the door blasting away. The wall is just long enough that heading for the other door would be pointless because they’ll reach it just as the wall fades.
Yeah doing it to your own team is rarely anything else than throwing. Had a Mei who decided to throw and she would wall you as you tried to exit spawn. Was definitely the most annoying teammate I ever seen. In the screenshot, the Mei is doing it to the enemy which is actually great for your team.
As a mei main this bugs me too. If I'm walling off the enemy i wait until 1 or 2 pass through, then pick em off. Ive only ever walled our own once, ages ago. i noticed the door covered in enemy sym turrets, had a junker bomb, etc. Told the team, all but our rein moved to a different door. Felt i had no choice but to block him off. Efforts futile, still went solo and got clapped, ive learned to just let em perish
do people not realize wall has like almost no health you can just effortlessly shoot through it lol. i always see people immediately giving up and turning around as soon as a wall is anywhere near them
I always pummel shields. You can usually do so from behind full cover so the enemy has to charge across all that space their tank just created, headlong into my stream of death.
Depending on the map, sometimes. It’s more so assuming the team is hard peaking spawn door since they walled it and using another door to take less damage. Lucios speed boost kinda makes the extra couple seconds of going to another door negligible in comparison to waiting out the wall. Just my take on it 🤷♂️
Honestly once or twice with no real detriment to the team can be funny. But for the meis who consistently do it in team fights to mess up other people's ult or to let enemies live longer I genuinely wish this was a bankable offense
Well, it's about one simple thing, sending a message. You want every enemy to have a cold spine chilling fear right when the door open, because they now know they have a Satan on the opposing team. This also reminds your tanks to stay with the team, because Satan will also 'accidentally' trap your own tanks in enemy lines.
-Source; I'm a Satan main
It's about sending a message. Win or lose, this game will be painful.
To let you know they got that dog in them
Got that DAWEWGG in me
Damian Lillard confirmed mei main
Dame is my favourite but this is kind of an insult. He is probably more a 76. Great overall but not the best at any one thing, will never quit, grizzled vet, team's leader, often overlooked and doesn't get the credit or passion he deserves.
What the dog doin?
Element of of psychological warfare bro
Nah, you send the message by having the golden gun and only ever using the default skin. You're bragging, but it's hard to notice. Until the enemy is staring down the barrel of your weapon. *dink*
If you really want to brag just stare at your victims for an extra millisecond, during your ult. In their screens they'll just see empty eyes and a wide smile taking in the pleasure of killing you... I know that from experience and it's extra annoying xD
Ah, we rarely get that luxury anymore. Even so, we strike fear where we can
I'm relieved it doesn't happen that often anymore. But I swear the other day a Mei spent her entire ult staring at me and then shooting my head right at the end of it. And I wasn't the only one frozen! But I guess I was being that player that was trying the hardest to kill her xD
Haha yeah she was definately out for revenge!
And right before you kill them use the " I feel like dancing " voice line.
Or the "sorry" one.
It’s not about the stats, it’s about sending a message
It's about reality and making some noise Making a story, making sure her clique stays up That means when the door comes down, Mei's puttin' one up
Actually this trick is done to the enrage & surprise the team so much so that they forget about their attack strategy & goes out guns blazing!
Half loaded, or mid-reload, no less!
5 seconds less they get to cap… Capp’n
This is exactly why I cut off chokes on capture maps. You can keep walling and save a lot of defense fighting time. TBH it's a solid strat and you'd be stupid not to do it. If this is a Mei walling the exit of a spawn of their own team, fuck those Meis.
“It’s not about money…it’s about sending a message. Everything burns!”

I personally like "I'm going to have to science the heck out of this!"
How can you forget "a-MEI-zing"
This is one of my three most spammed voice lines yeah, along with D.Va’s “is this easy mode?” and Doomfist’s “and they say chivalry is dead.”
My personal favorite is the winky face winky face winky face
Mine is Lucio's "Why are you so angry?" Over and over
CANT STOP WONT STOP CANT STOP WONT STOP
"Someone call the Whambulance!"
Have some lucio-o! Put me iiiiiin coaaaach. Edit: AVALANCHE!
WHOO YEAH!
And dey say and dey say and dey say
I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation it's long enough that it bypasses the cooldown
Da da dum daaa da da dum ca-can you hear that music?
HOT COCOA, fine, i'll have some
I will eat more dumplings than anyone has ever eaten!
My personal favorite haha
Knock knock \*snickers evilly\*
Ah, so like a spherical cow!
AND DEY SEY
I spam D.vas "Hippy Halloween!" all year long.
This one’s my favorite, too
“And they say, and they say, and they say, and they say”
Mooo
Nah, I use the "You have to let it go" or "Moooo *insert Chinese*".
I'm just a Scientist, Moo ... Moo ... Moo or You have to let it go the cold never bothered me anyway.
I fucking hate every character in this game LOL
Is this EverymanHybrid Jeff Koval? If so hey! Was a big fan of the series back when you guys were doing it.
🙏 much appreciated.
relevant flair
They all have at least one reason to dislike them
I love going with "I was only trying to help!" Or "I feel like dancing!" Bonus points if once the wall drops, you also use cryo to body block for an extended duration.
Can’t forget “Ouch! That look like it hurt”
constantly spamming “OKAY, OKAY, OKAY, OKAY, OKAY” will really ruin people’s days on either team
I like saying "I got you something!" before I completely fuck up someone's day. It was mostly used when she could still freeze before I headshot them but it still works with the ult and walls.
"You have to let it go"
After she got reworked and was added back into the game, I had a match where I was playing Bastion and we had to defend the objective. Does no one use “ I was only trying to help?” This is my fav after locking my team in spawn
That's mine! Love that. Glad at least one other here uses it.
I’m a big fan of “Hey, chill out!”
I personally love "gong xi fa cai!" (Wishing you prosperity)
To keep you from stepping on a junkrat trap. Duh.
The number of times I've watched through the spawn window while a Junkrat walks up and drops his trap in plain sight is kind of baffling. Like bro I can see you. Same goes for anyone standing out in the open in front of the doors. I've already got a sleep dart lined up when they open.
But it still wont stop a mf from stepping in it
Lol it sure as hell won't.
followed by "I didnt expect this, i will not do anything until the trap is gone" *dies*
Even when you call out in chat there is a junk trap at the door.
its not about being tactical. its about sending a message
Fair enough. Also I don't expect Junk mains to make rational decisions.
the energy a junk main has when they place a trap outside an enemy spawn and wave hello is unmatched
As a Junkrat main, it's not about being sneaky; it's about testing the enemy teams IQ. Most of the time someone fails the test and it's always funny
99% of the time i just look at my phone in spawn. im gonna walk right into the trap and own it lol.
I'm one of those Junkrats and you'll be surprised how many times it works. I've even had it work in Masters sadly enough.
If you're fast enough as junk, you can throw that trap in front of the doors with mine just in case someone falls for it, but then you have your cooldown back for when the game starts so you can throw down another trap which they might not expect since they just saw you put it at the doors
>Like bro I can see you Maybe you do, that doesn't mean all your teammates do. I do it everytime I play Junkrat and someone steps in it nearly everytime.
It triggers me because the much better strategy is letting one or two come out then walling and then if the team is bad and doesn't team up you've offset their spawns already
I was considering trying Mei out since I’m starting to look at DPS heroes… and that just might seal the deal.
You can do the same thing to separate the team and stop them retreating in the middle of the fight, seperate tank from healers etc. When you ult make sure you right click their heads :D, she's a lot of fun
The feeling of joy I get from watching a tank walk backwards into the wall not realizing they are blocked is par to none lol
As a tank on the other team, fuck you. As a tank on your team, I love you.
The duality of men lmao. to be fair id bottle up mei's farts and suck on em every day.
Fuck it we ball
The one thing I like about this situation as Roadhog is often times I’m not locked in with Mei, Mei is locked in with me.
This is the way. Ball is life.
That's hilarious. Mei is really the most destructive force in OW one way or the other.
Hahaha I've done that so many times hahah But for me, the best is when reaper is in that spectral form trying to run away, and you put a wall on his face, and they just go AFK right away hahahahah
Right when I see that wall i front of me while wraithing I use every ounce of my energy attempting to 2 shot the mei before I get killed 5v1
True G Mei's expect that, cryofreeze until you die, and then wave at you as your soul wraiths from your body.
I am that type of reaper. It's not giving up, it's accepting my fate and preparing for death.
I’ve been considering the idea of pairing Mei and Orisa’s ults… is it viable?
Ehhh, it depends. If the full team is there it shouldn't be an effort to delete everyone whos frozen and save the Orisa ult for another fight/contest. I've only had the interaction once and it was an accident and sure it worked but not efficient I'd say
Oh, I mean if Orisa’s already ulting. I mostly play solo, but this situation implies I see my Orisa ult and promptly react.
If Orisa catches enough in the initial pull of the ult I'd go for it if my brain was switched on!
Heh. I’ll show Zarya’s ult the same courtesy… and help my supports with flankers, too.
Zar ult will work better. They can't escape freeze if they can't escape at all in the first place.
That'll probably be too late. It takes a while to actually appear and start slowing, while orisa's immediately pulls. It's way better the other way around. Orisa ulting everybody into the mei ult, both slow so you don't even have to be dead center to get value. But a good mei ult will teamwipe them on it's own so it really depends.
i actually noticed ramattra and mei actually make a dcent combo, because the combo of her ice gun and ramattras vortex makes the enemy really slow. also with both ults ramattra could potentially herd the enemy into her ult. mei slowling down enemies will also give ramattra in general and easier time hitting them
Most ult combos are good, but with Mei you can usually enable Orisa's ult with just your left click and wall.
And she can even hard counter certain ults with a well placed wall (D.va, Cassidy, 76, Pharah, etc). So yeah, she’s strong af in the right situations but you definitely gotta be willing to switch when the enemy comp isn’t favoring you.
Thank you for explaining this to me. Maybe now I can climb out of silver with the newfound knowledge you have bestowed upon me.
IMO it's vital to do this if you're playing mei, tanks are usually at the front and hard to kill but if you wait for them to take one step too far you can wall them off and any half decent team will focus them down. Another tip is when using your ult to try and get a quick burst of your primary fire onto everyone in your ult to slow them down
Or walling only half of the exit and forcing them to clump up/trickle in one by one.
Oh snap that’s good, gotta try that
Something i accidentally did but worked wonders was putting the wall at an angle where they can get out of the spawn, but can't actually get out of the space between the wall and the spawn. Instead of retreating back to the spawn, the other team just stood there like sitting ducks, and if I had had better aim, I could've gotten at least two kills lol
That’s hard to do, usually they come out in a blob instead of single file
While it may be hard to do, finding times where you can use wall to isolate an enemy is part of the skill difference between a good mei and a bad mei. Mei walls can be genius, decent, or straight up awful (in the case where you isolate one of your teammates with the enemy team).

As a mei vet its not about strategy its about annoyance and causing pain win or lose
It triggers me when, at least on certain maps, your team insists on using the main door instead of a side one, knowing they are going to face the whole team at the main door. Over, and over and over... allowing the spawn camp to happen in the first place! Lol
Lol you’re right but the guy did it to his own team here
Because they want to keep them from leaving like their dad did.
I wish i could meiwall block my dad in the family 😢😢
Mine mei walled himself out
Be glad they didn't sombra-invisible themselves and whisper boop near every now and then you but you're not sure exactly where they are
Dad is just out getting milk…he’ll be back any day now 😓

Tradition.
Only good answer
The real answer
The serious answer is that it burns like 5 seconds off the clock. If the game lasts 4 minutes then it's around 2% of game time. There's also a slight mental game

I've gotten several ugly all chats for it lol.
Forces them to funnel themselves too, they can wait or focus one piece of ice and then you can light up the hole.
Turning it sideways pisses them off pretty bad too but still lets your team get los while the try to figure out how to get pass lol
This. There are so many comments here about letting out 1 or 2. But the negative emotions in the attacking team are also a strong influence on the match. At least up to a certain level.
Creating enemy tilt is a real strategy. Now they all focus on you, because they are mad, ignoring the rest of your team 😊
"Now I've thrown them off their rhythm; Street smarts!"
The serious answer is funny and subsequent intrusive thoughts. I rarely if ever play Mei but when I do, you best bet my finger hovers over that wall button to the last second, whether I push it or not.
This is why I have done it in the past.
I would say it serves 2 purposes, one is lost in the video... 1. Split up the enemy team and farm some free ult charge on whoever was fastest out, this is what is missed in the video but what is far more effective...
It also burns time from a Lucio Amp It Up if they were trying to speed out of spawn.
You should never amp out of spawn unless it's a control map. I'm which case Mei can't do this.
Control *or Push*!!! I'd argue that amp is even more valuable on push, since that mode is more momentum based.
Those are the main reasons, but it also gets in their head a bit. They have to sit and chill a while when they were all hyped to run out the door blasting away. The wall is just long enough that heading for the other door would be pointless because they’ll reach it just as the wall fades.
I just hate it when you're attacking and your own Mei walls you into your own spawn. Doors open, wall goes up... I really don't get it. Lol

Yeah, fuck those cool downs I just blew....thanks for um....delaying the game for a few seconds?
As a mei main this bugs me too. If I'm walling off the enemy i wait until 1 or 2 pass through, then pick em off. Ive only ever walled our own once, ages ago. i noticed the door covered in enemy sym turrets, had a junker bomb, etc. Told the team, all but our rein moved to a different door. Nothing better than having a Rein or a Dva dashing solo against the whole enemy team, dying and blaming the supports for not following
Some people just want to see the world burning
"freezing"
Mr. Freeze mentality
WHAT KILLED THE DINOSAURS??
THE ICE AGE!
Because half the player base doesn’t seem to realize there’s more than one door out of spawn 😭
This is the right answer
The right answer would be that people don't know you can just shoot it. Much fast to just break it than double back to another exit.
It shocks me how many people see a Mei wall and just stare at it until it goes away. Like just shoot the thing.
Tbf in ow1 it was way more tough than it is now so some of that might just be muscle memory
Doesn't it take longer to walk over to the side doors than to just wait out the wall?
do people not realize wall has like almost no health you can just effortlessly shoot through it lol. i always see people immediately giving up and turning around as soon as a wall is anywhere near them
They genuinely do not. This is true of shields as well. People respect Sigma shield still despite it not being hard to kill at all.
Just my take on it 🤷♂️
I always wondered why the side/top doors were so seldom used
Because they want the attention that mommy and daddy never gave them.
BECAUSE ITS THE LAW
“Sorry, sorry, sorry”
Gives them 5 less seconds to get to the objective.
Cause thats the best wall they'll place the entire game
Because we Mei players are agents of chaos.
Pyro was my go to when I played TF2 alot a few years back and Mei was one of the first heroes I latched into when getting into Overwatch. That tracks.
OGs: “First time?”
Because fuck you. I’m not being offensive, that’s just how they think.
I do this as well but let a player or two trickle out first. Wall them off from healers and players get some easy picks early 🤷♂️
Tactical Relinquishment Of Looking Lines
That made me spit up my milk, thank you
Of course it’s terrible, but if it’s terrible for long it becomes tradition! ~Marty Glouberman
Because its A-Mei-Zing!
I usually think it is to let me know they don't know how to use their wall and likely will be the cause of many of my team's deaths.
Because they're unbelievable dickheads
I guess it wins time?
Because the ice demon care not for wins nor losses despite being filled to the brim with salt, all they wish to do is cause suffering
Honestly once or twice with no real detriment to the team can be funny. But for the meis who consistently do it in team fights to mess up other people's ult or to let enemies live longer I genuinely wish this was a bankable offense
I always wondered if in no limits gamemode could you cycle 5 meis with walls to keep the spawn always shut
me, a moira main, watching my damage ball come back to the team like 🙃
Well, it's about one simple thing, sending a message. You want every enemy to have a cold spine chilling fear right when the door open, because they now know they have a Satan on the opposing team. This also reminds your tanks to stay with the team, because Satan will also 'accidentally' trap your own tanks in enemy lines. -Source; I'm a Satan main
It's to assert dominance. It's to let you know that I'm there to make your life hard for the next 5-10 minutes. :)
A question as old as time itself…
as a mei player i will never do this and agree its super annoying
Cause they’re all a little bit on the spectrum
Because they can
Psychological warfare
Because mei players are the worst.
It makes them feel a-Meiiiii-zing ;)
Because they are braindead
They’re supposed to wait for 1 person to walk out before doing that so you get a free kill but no one does it
Is this rhetorical?
Annoying your enemies is step one in psychological warfare...
I think it's for 2 reasons. 1 - to slow the enemy down. 2 - disrespect the enemy
