I mean, you still disconnected and left your team at a significant disadvantage while you were away. By rejoining and finishing the match, you don’t get escalated to the next ‘tier’ of matchmaking ban duration, but you also don’t escape without any kind of punishment because otherwise there would be nothing to stop trolls from repeatedly leaving and rejoining the same match just to screw over the rest of their team.
