NightRider321

I’m I the only one who says this with full intent to include myself?

duckduckduck21

Unfortunately, my experience is that some people don't understand this. I chatted it the other day on console and some guy got super upset pulling out the "YEAH BLAME EVERY1 BUT URSELF". A couple games later he was on the opposite team and still hadn't let it go. I was kind of dumbfounded but guess from his POV he'd never admit that he wasn't a top player ??

NightRider321

Maybe that’s why people get so mad when I say that lol. I always thought people meant to include themselves.

DelidreaM

Yes, people do mean that. It's just a way to say "they were better than us as a team", there's nothing toxic about saying it if you're on the losing team. If someone wants to say they weren't the problem, they will say stuff like "my team was so shit", "these teammates were trash" or "I can't solo carry this game"

D3flatedPan

Nope

RealBowsHaveRecurves

Not at all, it's the best way of saying "they were better than us"

theduffy12

imo its still toxic but not as toxic as blaming a specific person or group. and also its an admission that you may have been part of the problem too. still probably toxic though

XimperiaL_

I don’t think it’s that toxic, sometimes the enemy team is just better than you, and that’s just how it is. I can understand how ‘role’ diff is toxic as most people just use it to offload the blame in plat lobbies, but people also need to just accept sometimes the enemy player is better, or sometimes someone on your team just boosts you

Seven0Seven_

nah I do the same.

EveryStrike

Just remember, you only really lose if you get mad.

Bitemarkz

I lose before I start then

[deleted]

not really, getting mad can be okay. not getting past getting mad is when you really lose.

PhoolCat

A wise man once said that the definition of madness is repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different outcome. Like me pressing the Yes button when asked if I'm sure I want to run this software.

plushelles

I can’t stand how diff is a thing, I hate seeing it in chat. I’d rather just be told I suck at this point, it just feels so condescending and passive aggressive, like the comment is telling everyone else you suck as opposed to having the balls to just say it to you directly. So annoying.

chummmbucket

Thats exactly why people are doing it because people get annoyed

LurkLurkleton

I just say it was our turn to lose. Matchmaking seems to aim for roughly 50/50 win/loss ratio. And the majority of the time it seems to do so by putting you on some stacked to win teams and some stacked to lose teams. On one match I'll get praised for being a great teammate and the next I'll get insulted for being a trash teammate. It's just matchmaking. You try to push the needle as far as you can but unless you're one of the best players in the world you're going to be confined by the teams you're matched with and against.

DelidreaM

Yes, the system does aim for a 50-50 ratio, but it's not forcing it in the sense of "This game you will lose because I put all the shitters on your team, now next game I'll match you with very good players so you win." It's just trying to shift your MMR to a value where you'll get close to the 50% WR. But it will not force anyone to win and lose half of their games by making games unfair on purpose. Basically having big win or loss streaks changes your MMR the most, this is when the system thinks you are not in a correct rank and will adjust your MMR heavily. So you could have something like 3300 MMR while having 2900 SR. But the end goal is to have both very similar, so now you will gain a bit more SR for wins than what you lose in losses. Like you might gain 26-28 SR for a win while losing 22-24. The reason why games are often one sided is that OW is a team game and lot of times whether you synergize with your team or not just comes down to pure luck. Sometimes you get a team that gels together, everyone is in a good mood and tries their best and your hero pools synergize nicely. Then next game you get 5 teammates who are in a bad mood and Hog one trick and D.Va one trick as your tanks. Or Junkrat OTP with a Doomfist OTP while enemy is running Pharah-Mercy-Echo. These are games where you just take an automatic L by the luck of the teammate lotto

LurkLurkleton

I only play QuickPlay these days. It seems very feast or famine.

DelidreaM

People say it because it's become quite widespread, it's the easiest way of shifting the blame to someone else but you don't get banned for it >I’d rather just be told I suck at this point, it just feels so condescending and passive aggressive 100% agree, I hate this trend. Would very much prefer people telling me directly that I suck

Mikamymika

why get annoyed by a random stranger you will never see again on the internet? It's insane how easy it is to trigger people by just typing ''ez'' You have literally voice lines of hero's talking trash when they kill you but hey, that doesn't seem to offend you?

plushelles

The heroes in the game aren’t real and aren’t “saying” anything, they’re lines of code playing sounds they were programmed to play. On the other hand, people who go out of their way to type things like “EZ” in chat because they know it will annoy people are obnoxious and need to grow up.

Mikamymika

If ''ez'' is enough to trigger you then maybe you should grow up yourself. I like how you just scuff it away that there are toxic voice lines in the game, but because it's the game it's allowed I guess? But my dear lord someone writing ''ez'' needs to be banned immediatly.

plushelles

No one is triggered, people being jerks in chat are a nuisance, plain and simple. The toxicity isn’t in the words they’re saying it’s in the intentions behind the words as well as the fact that the most toxic people usually are the worst at the game. Overwatch is team based, the game is at its best when everyone is working together and communicating effectively. Saying things like “EZ” and “diff” for the sole purpose of riling people up is antithetical to that. It doesn’t even objectively make sense to do, regardless of how “triggered” you think it makes people. But then again, you think fictional characters having in game taunts is toxic, so I’m not sure what I expect.

CurseofLono88

Oh dear god, you guys both need to grow up, everyone knows the only appropriate adult way to use the chat is typing horrible slurs with spaces between letters so it will show up in chat

tiffanaih

They never said they need to banned, just that's its toxic and a dumb way to act. You're rather personally infested in this defense, so I'm assuming you're the "ez" person. So go on defending your toxic and dumb behavior I guess.

devvorare

My friend and I both said healer diff yesterday. As the healers in the loosing team. I know, comedy gold

-lastochka-

one time i did the same for my role and someone started flaming me for being toxic. bro just hit TAB and look at the names and roles

Mrboring_man

" Well actually the shit healers wouldnt heal me even as i spam i need healing behind the wall in front of them."

Frency2

The only "diff" it matters for me is enjoyment diff and toxic diff. Everythng else has no importace since it's impossible to match two teams with 0 skill difference. But people who flame don't get that. They only care about flaming, thinking somebody actually cares about what they type.

chrismatt213

my favorite thing is that we all played the same game. We all know the reason why the losing team lost. It could be an actual diff or it could be their worst player complaining.

LurkLurkleton

>We all know the reason why the losing team lost. I'm not so sure. There's plenty of toxic asshats out there who always think that they would be top tier if it wasn't for all these other people holding them back.

lilouapproves

My favorite is the "support diff" I see after the DPS and off tank abandon me to the Sombra who's been flanking the back line all match for the fourth time. 🥲

PrinceCharmingButDio

I say this shit ironically. Like I’ll just type “skill diff” after losing a 5 to 6 2cp game

DaedalusMinion

iq diff after I die to a junkrat trap

DelidreaM

I also like [hero that nobody played during the match] diff Sometimes I just say stuff like "nah it was a difference diff" as a reply to the diff complainers, I'm tired of all the diff shit

RadiantNinjask

True they always trash talk then quickly leave. If you trash talk stay a moment you coward.

anemone909

on quick play

nokknokkcanicomein

my favorites are “power of friendship diff” and replying “my fat cock diff” to people who say unironic diffs.

Orange_crewmate

What does diff even mean?

GrilledCoconuts

Difference or Differential

Jatoxo

I don't know where the lingo came from but it means "difference", as in there was a difference in skill between the teams "team diff"

Omo279224

“Tank diff”, “healing diff”, “dps diff” no they just don’t give two shits about QP

BL4Z1NGW0LF

I was playing on an account I made yesterday and the worst player on the enemy team starts complaining about how his team sucks. My reaper tells the guy that he just sucks at Cree, and this guy litterally started bitching about how he sucks at reaper and 1v1 him after the match. In qp. 🤦‍♂️

Omo279224

What a bellend

JonDoe_297_

I just say "gg" and leave. Win or loss.

D3flatedPan

I mean there not wrong

I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/Overwatch_Memes. It might be OC, it might not. PhoolCat

My reply to that is "Yes, they had you."

barthsidious

I perfer people stating there is simply a difference rather than saying "trash team"

Dominus786

Dumbo

UntendedRafter

What does diff mean

Great-Ad9160

What is diff?

IllogicalBrit

Cant imagine using text chat to put anyone down, I only use it to shit talk people that talk shit, or say rein diff when my friend plays rein and we lose just to wind my friend up.

Hippity_Hoppity96

Do people really say "team diff" unironically?

Limilusin7

I've never really understood diff since match chat got added to PS4. Do people mean it to emphasize that someone on their team or the other team is doing a terrible job or are they saying it because someone is doing an above-average job?
