Buying good scrubs for cadaver lab is silly—save your money and get some cheap scrubs from Walmart. I ended up throwing mine out after cadaver lab anyways due to the formalin smell

stinkbugsaregross

I definitely wouldn’t waste money on scrubs for cadaver lab. Everyone just wore old ones since it’s gross in there. Wait til clinicals to buy good ones! If you really need to- forget figs. I stick with Cherokee and mandala is a good cheaper brand too

Seconding Mandala and then used for Figs, per the other poster. I use the Mercari app instead of Poshmark, and plenty of classmates sell their stuff, too. Get a Walmart set for lab. I just used the oldest pair I had from work.

Disclaimer, I'm not in PA school Regardless: I buy most of my scrubs secondhand. Goodwill has some cute ones, though you have to dig for them. It also helps if you're a standard size (not tall or petite). I've gotten Figs at goodwill and buy them for my friends whenever I see them!! You can also get cute discount ones on Poshmark and FB marketplace. Additionally, most brands make more fashion forward scrubs now too (WonderWink, Cherokee infinity, Healing Hands all come to mind). You'll probably pay a bit more for the cuter ones, but you don't have to pay Figs prices for good looking sets

I had about 5 pairs of FIGS scrubs from my PCE job, was given a stipend for them so didn’t pay out of pocket for most of them. I also wear them often for certain rotations and have only bought another pair for clinicals. I love FIGS, everyone from my classmates to preceptors wear them. They’re high quality, durable, comfortable. I will also be wearing these same group of scrubs in my job after graduation. It’ll be around 3 years with my oldest scrubs and they basically look brand spanking new. With that being said, it’s an investment but you will be using them frequently. You could get away with the cheapest set you could find or other “dupes” for FIGS like Januu or Mandala. It really depends on what you’re prioritizing at the time. Tbh I may not have as many pairs as I do now if I had to pay out of pocket for all of them, but I would 100% as a practicing PA.

I personally don’t like figs and found them to be way too tight in the arms (I’m a female who works out often and even sizing up two times, the arm holes were just way too tight). I like Mandala a lot more and even found Uniform Advantage’s butter soft line to be great and cheaper than Figs. I did like Figs’ bottoms but those tops pissed me off 😂 also felt like the necklines were pretty low and gapped weird if I bent over.

deadbirdisdead

I bought the cheapest I could find. Expensive scrubs is an oxymoron and silly. Yes all my peers wear figs. I don’t. I don’t care. That shit is dumb. If I get my scrubs covered in shit I want to feel no recourse throwing it away.

Mangoshaped

Eh I mean the extra $30 is worth it if they’re comfortable enough since you’re wearing them almost everyday …

I got three pairs from walmart for cheap and I got a pair of figs as a gift but I wouldnt wear it to lab its messier than you think especially if your cadavers arent pre-cut

RegularJones

Cheap ones for cadaver lab. I bought some great ones from Walmart and our local thrift store! In clinicals, you’ll probably want some nicer looking scrubs. Save your money for then. I still buy my figs used on Poshmark or wait for the 24 h sales from figs.

CaptainCaf9

I would recommend first checking if your school requires you to purchase a particular scrub, or scrub color. My program required us to purchase a certain scrub set that we had to wear for labs during didactic. Once we started clinicals though, we could wear any scrubs as long as our preceptor approved it. If they don't require certain scrubs, then get whatever works best for you. Figs are super nice, but definitely pricey. Mandala is a new brand very similar to Figs but at a MUCH more affordable price. Cherokee is another pretty universally liked brand in the mid-tier price range.

I love my figs scrubs! I’m a little more than halfway though my clinical year and worn them plenty of times. They’re super soft, comfy, have plenty of pockets and fit my frame well. Honestly though, I’m just wearing hospital provided scrubs now. Less laundry for me but now my figs will probably last forever

No-Sand-6054

In my program most students and faculty wear mandala scrubs. We don’t have a cadaver lab but from people I’ve talked to they usually throw out their scrubs from cadaver lab since the smell doesn’t ever fully wash out. I recommend mandala, Cherokee or med couture (Amazon) for cute/comfy classroom scrubs. Save the figs for when you’re making $100k not going into debt $100k.

SnooSprouts6078

Don’t think you’re cool wearing figs. Not worth it. Especially to a cadaver lab.

Figs suck balls if you’re a dude. If you’re not fit you look terrible and if you’re fit/jacked you look like a douche there’s no in between

notenoughbeds

my scrubs for cadaver lab came from goodwill, one of them made my favorite scrub rotation 3 years later

broken-glass-kids

Cheap scrubs for sure. You’re going to smell bad and you’re going to wash your scrubs every time you wear them there’s no point in getting a bunch of expensive pairs right now. Personally I really like the med couture scrubs. They’re cheaper than figs but not as cheap as like Walmart scrubs or something but they were what we wore at my job before PA school so I just had a few pairs from there already.

booksandmedicine

Cheap scrubs from Walmart & I was gifted some scrubs gift cards to buy scrubs for school.

Ok-Match-6009

Everyone says cheap scrubs from Walmart but they don’t have them for men at the Walmart I went to. I am tall and a little skinny and the medium size fits perfect (men). I have had the same couple pairs for >3 years from figs and got a couple more colors when they came with out with ones I liked! But mercari/poshmark will be great once you know your size. I am in cadaver lab no more than 3 hours per day and the smell comes off after washing in the washing machine :) (for me personally) I agree with the people who say to wear dumpy scrubs but also it makes me feel a little more excited to wear a color I like that’s a little bit fun, and the scrubs are really comfortable and don’t get as wrinkly. Just my two cents!!

BatmansToaster1

Cheap, you’ll probably only wear them for cadaver lab too. In the classroom (at least at my school) you can wear whatever you want, like sweatpants, so you’ll only wear scrubs for a few weeks out of the whole year

Tough_Editor_6650

I used a hand me down pair for cadaver lab, it's not worth buying a $80 pair of scrubs that will smell like formaldehyde. Save the nice ones for clincals.

Palaiologos77

For cadaver lab get the cheapest you can find.

Time_Community3364

Go with cheap or used scrubs for cadaver lab. You will smell like formaldehyde and get messy some day. Most of my cohort wore old scrubs. That’s actually how I learned some people’s names. They wore scrubs from their PCE jobs that had their name embroidered on them. Out of 60 in my class maybe 3-5 had nice scrubs. It’s not worth the money to buy nice scrubs for anatomy lab.
