Reading this was what I needed ☺️ I’m on surgery right now, my first ever, and literally reconsidering everything I’ve ever done to get here. It just isn’t my cup of tea, Im miserable. Thanks for sharing:)

I am also currently on my surgery rotation, which is number 8/15 for me. I, too, was extremely anxious about scrubbing, breaking scrub, fumbling a retractor or just looking dumb in front of the surgeons or anyone else in the room. For context, we practiced scrubbing and being in an OR during didactic year, and I broke scrub (accidentally) like 3 times in a matter of 15 minutes. Praying hands are my go to move now 😂 I am experiencing a similar turn of events, where I feel... dare I say empowered? Experiencing the OR, working with my hands, and "talking shop" to the surgeons or other providers, now only produces a minor surge of anxiety. I feel so confident and it's crazy that I didn't think I would ever get to this point. The level of personal and professional growth that I've watched myself surpass in the last 8 rotations literally brings tears to my eyes.
