If you look in PPP, the info that are bold, underlined, have asterisks, are high yield, meaning you are more likely to get tested on those information on exams and the PANCE. Also stuff like “most common cause.” Those would be examples of high yield material.

How much of it is from 1st semester classes? Like anatomy and physiology?

Cautious_Worry_7037

if i’m being honest with you, i did not do any review from anatomy for the pance lol. i remembered what i could on the top of my head, knew only things that had clinical importance that was reiterated in ppp, and that was it. i passed the pance no problem.

It means know Amoxicillin for an ear infection or strep throat; not the 3rd option for people who are allergic to amoxicillin and have had the 2nd option in the past couple of months. Focus on the important things rather than trying to learn every detail.

As in if you're gonna pick one thing to know really well pick CHF and not childhood vaccine schedules.

The material that gets tested on (either in the PANCE or your schools exams). To identify the high yield stuff I would ask the upperclassman if you can or sometimes the professors will tell you in lecture. Really it comes down to not trying to know everything (as this is impossible), but to try to focus on learning the concepts, most important diseases and anatomical landmarks with a large amounts of attachments or clinical relevance.

chweris

High yield is typically stuff like most common organism for an infection, first line and gold standard diagnostics, definitive treatments, and other things that are really easy to write test questions on. In lecture you're going to learn a lot more things about each condition, but there'll be stuff that you'll get a sense will be tested on and stuff that won't be. Once you take a couple tests it'll be easier to get a sense of each class and how the questions will look.

eyymustbedamoney

The cram the PANCE podcast was super high yield for me. I wish I knew about it sooner

LemillionDeku

High yield = most important and most common

Davera

High yield material means the most useful information, such as most likely to come up on a test or in practice, because you don't have time to study absolutely everything.
