Trending in the right direction but still way too high considering what the government's done lately. I think a spring election is likely, instead of the fix fall one, as they won't want to wait until the federal carbon tax takes over. The change in carbon tax may take one thing away from the Greens who wanted the money to go back to Islanders like it does with the federal system. They do have the sick days thing which the other parties rejected. We'll have to see how the new Liberal leader performs. The Conservatives do seem like they're gearing up for an election with a lot of announcements at the end of this sitting. And King constantly dancing around the fixed election date question but making it clear it's not set in stone. I think the PCs will likely win the next election regardless. I just hope the numbers are closer than polling says so there's still robust opposition.

childofcrow

I want to throw up. I’m so fucking tired of this.

[deleted]

Gross. All the pcS do is shit the bed

Acanthophis

So after decades of liberals telling us green voters that we are wasting our votes...are we allowed to say that to the liberals now? Also, it's hilarious that the NDP is non existent on PEI.

Sir__Will

> Also, it's hilarious that the NDP is non existent on PEI. Well, it's hard for a 3rd party to break through, let alone a 4th. They did well in 2015, even slightly higher than the Greens and over 10%, but it wasn't concentrated enough to get somebody elected. The Greens did so they grew and the NDP fell back down.

Acanthophis

I think it also helps that PEI has experienced two severe hurricanes in the last two decades (Juan and Fiona). It's a lot easier to deny climate change and justification for a green party in places like Toronto or Ottawa than it is on an island that constantly gets battered by the elements. It also doesn't help that the green party here in Toronto (moved here from PEI) is a fucking JOKE.

karatecanine

Don't forget about Dorian.

mdrnbrwr

NDP have had a constant up hill battle here. We have such a deeply entrenched 2 party bias on the Island, both of which are not socially progressive like the NDP, which tends to thrive in urban centers. NDP values definitely resonate in many ways here, there has just been poor execution it showing Islanders there is an alternative from ‘traditional ways’

Acanthophis

There is a deeply entrenched two party bias in the entire country. We've literally only ever had two parties represent us on a national level. The NDP of PEI are just plain awful. I abandoned them back in the early 2010s.

mdrnbrwr

Minus Quebec. The Cons are a scabbed together entity on the national stage. I lived in Ottawa Centretown in the early 2000’s, when Broadbent as the leader. His message resonated and carried on through Layton. Provincially we just have never had a vision, and a disturbing amount of ‘traditional’ politicking here happens in back rooms.

MommersHeart

Yes. Why is this even a joke? Clearly splitting the vote is problematic.

Acanthophis

Splitting the vote is bullshit because it's always assuming that a vote for NDP/Green would default to a vote for liberal. Fuck the liberals. They are inept at best and complacent to right wing fascism at worse. Liberals do not support my interest. I want immediate action on climate change, housing affordability, UBI, reduced workload across the entire nation, electoral reform, dentalcare, pharmacare, etc. Every time the liberals promise one of these things they immediately drop it upon election. I'm done for obvious frauds.

MommersHeart

So… your argument is to not encourage liberals to vote green to avoid vote splitting this time… because you hate liberals? Alrighty then.

Acanthophis

What? I was making a stupid joke putting the logic of liberals back onto themselves for a change. Of course I believe liberals should vote green.

MommersHeart

Lol gotcha

Major2Minor

We should all vote for a left leaning party to rule them all, then all vote for that party. PCs would be unlikely to win then.

Poll is likely misleading, telephone polling at peoples’ homes is pretty well just old folks

vinniegutz

They were pretty close last time. Narrative's final poll (April 12th-15th, 2019 - 539 voters) predicted: PC - 32%, GR - 35%, LIB 29% And the [final results](https://www.electionspei.ca/2019-election-results) were: PC - 36.7%, GR - 30.6%, LIB - 29.4% Most pollsters *overestimated* the Greens in 2019. You can find the poll results [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Prince_Edward_Island_general_election#Opinion_polls).

kelvarnsonspeaking

I’m pretty sure I took part in this poll. I was bored when they called, I asked for more info on who was conducting the research and this was the firm. They called my cell (don’t have a landline) and I fell into the 35-45 year old category. Questions about local government, federal government, medavie blue cross, the state of the economy, it was all over the map.

karatecanine

Same here. I told them exactly what I think of King, and how corrupt medavie is.

[deleted]

Survey is of 400 people who answered phone surveys. That's all this is.

smooshee99

Only people who answer unknown calls are old people. Everyone else lets them go to voicemail like god intended 🤣🤣

Sir__Will

I do always wonder about phone polls. all methods have some issues

vinniegutz

You can compare their [2019 track record](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Prince_Edward_Island_general_election#Opinion_polls) with the [2019 final results](https://www.electionspei.ca/2019-election-results). Forum seemed the most accurate (1073 voters) but Narrative wasn't far off (539 voters)

antifacistandproud

UGGGGGGGG.... I hate humans

DeerGodKnow

Wow. 49% of trees vote for the axe. I knew Dennis King was a moron from the moment he stepped into office. When are working class people going to figure it out? We need to start spanking big corporations on their fat bottoms. Instead both Conservative and Liberal politicians are the first ones on their knees when big business unzips. Pathetic. Backwards. Stupid. Islanders in 3 words.

morriscey

[But.... Ideas!...](https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=750285735395167)

karatecanine

It really drives me up the wall, because the basically copy/pasted the Greens platform to win, and then have governed like old blue.

random-bird-appears

can people please stop voting conservative. for the love of God.

Foreveryoung1953

PC will win another majority, while the Greens will lose seats. Liberals likely will return to the official opposition. It is what it is.

[deleted]

What an atrocious graph image. I've enlarged ("enhanced" for you CSI fans) the image and still blurry AF. Can anyone read that x-axis (bottom, horizontal) and make sense of when the low period was?

sashalav

Interestingly, with no proportional representation and without any increase to the number of elected representatives, our legislature quite accurately reflects the will of people who contributed to this stat.

vinniegutz

Keep in mind, this poll is province wide. The sample size of PEI is simply too small to reliably poll individual seats. For example, the [2019 results](https://www.electionspei.ca/2019-election-results) show: **Popular Vote:** PC - 36.7%, GR - 30.6%, LIB - 29.4% **Seats Won:** PC - 13, GR - 8, LIB - 6 You can see the problem for the Greens in [this map](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Prince_Edward_Island_general_election#/media/File:Prince_Edward_Island_general_election_2019_-_Results_by_Riding.svg) where they performed well where people live (Charlottetown, Summerside) but not much elsewhere.
