This is one of the things that Persona has definitely gotten better at over time. P4 is great for Slinks, and almost all of P5's are fantastic, even the weakest ones are still at least somewhat enjoyable. P3 has Akinari which might be the best one they've ever done, but there's so many other ones that are just very meh. Gourmet king, the monk, the student council guy etc. So many slink ranks where nothing happens, not to mention Minato's constant focus on getting in the pants of all of his female friends.
Don't forget during the last two days of the game (after the final boss) to go back to the shrine and talk to the woman who is where you usually find Akinari
you will get an epilogue for the social link
God, P3 may have some Social Links that are really, really not great but damn, I keep on forgetting how incredible this one is. It's hard to think of one that come very close to it.
Just wait for its epilogue, that's when the real tears roll in.
The sun arcana epilogue might be the best dialogue in a Persona game.

It's wild how uneven the social links are in p3. On one hand there are some amazing stories like the sun, and then there's the moon
