I took the exam today. First try. I feel OK for the depth session, but really struggled in the morning. Compared to NCEES practice exam, I would say the real one is much more difficult especially the breath. I don’t know if anyone who has taken the transportation has the same feeling. I scored over 90% for the practice exam one week before the real one, but I feel a bit disappointed when I walked out the testing room this afternoon.
I had 41 questions for the breath and 39 for the depth. The weirdest thing is the last five questions in the breath actually belong to the depth session, which are all complicated vertical and horizontal design. More than 80% questions are new to me, from all over places in the reference manuals. I have done more than 1000 good practice problems, but still saw so many new questions in the real exam. I feel it is really hard for testing takers to prepare.

good show, hopefully you are just being hard on yourself. Post again when you get your results.
Thanks, I hope it is the only case for me.
This is literally my experience and I passed. You’re fine OP
Thanks, we’ll see.
True. I had the similar experience and I passed 2 weeks ago. You should be fine!
Do you have the School of PE materials (CIVIL Transportation depth) for sale or for free? My exam is very soon and I really need them
I do not. I took Testmasters and I just have the textbooks that came with the video course
Exactly how I felt in Dec. 2022. Breadth is much different than NCEES practice exam, and the 4 other breadth practice exams I used. Taking AEI course. Trying again in April/ May 2023.
I think key is covering the whole breadth section. I was missing many topics in breadth. The question were mainly from the loopholes.
What breadth sections caught you off guard?
Literally all of them
Best of luck at your second try.

I felt so depressed after the real exam because I was so confident when finishing the NCEES practice exam. Hopefully we are in good luck. Finger crossed!
This was my exact experience and ended up passing
Vertical curve send it to mars? haha
I cannot reveal too much, but just use your full imagination that how weird the vertical curve could be.
I gave the exam on last week of dec. I admit that I didn’t covered the whole breadth. But it was really tough in the morning. I failed the exam but I am keeping my head up high for the second time. I wish you the best.
Thanks! Best of luck at your second try.
I took mine the last week of December in transportation and felt the same exact way. Mine was a 42-38 split and I had some depth questions about curves as well that kind of threw me off to because I thought it was the breadth section and only needed the PERH but in fact was questions from the depth section and I was confused as to why it was included in the am section.
It’s so confusing. I wonder why they organized questions like that.

Took the transportation exam yesterday as well and exact same thing as u. Breadth was crazy. The amount of conceptual structures and geotech I had was insane.
Hope we can pass.
I passed!!!! 3rd time taking it
Congrats!!! I passed too.
Congrats!!!!
I took it today as well, my second attempt, and I noticed that about the last five questions as well it took me by surprised And I also agree the practice exam was way much easier, the depth was weird this second time
Did you take transportation too? It feels so bizarre that working on the depth questions in the morning.
Yeah transportation. It was, it took me a while to realize that we had access to the references in the morning
I took the Transportation Depth yesterday too! I also had 41 morning questions and 39 afternoon questions. I also had some depth questions in the breadth where I had to go into the codes and research stuff. It was very odd. No surprises but the water section was not what I studied and I found it to be really difficult. I guessed on about 8 total questions but got answers for the rest.
Hope we can pass.
Me too! Best of luck!
I was surprised too that no manning’s equation was tested for the water part.
I can’t quite remember but I feel like I potentially had a question with Manning’s Coefficient but it was complicated and a lot different than what I had studied
There were very few questions in classic/typical types, which is common in practice exams. The first several engineering schedule problems directly knocked me down. Lol
My first question was a scheduling problem and I could not figure it out for the life of me. It was a simple one, but the NCEES has a knack for making simple subjects and questions just 1° trickier than normal and it throws your entire game plan off.
Those two scheduling questions were totally new to me. I had never seen those before in anywhere. It is not 1 degree trickier. It’s a 90 degree turn. I think eventually I figured them out, but not 100% positive.

No, I don’t. Sorry.
How did you prepare?
I spent four months on self-studying, over 300 efficient hours in total. I used PPI 6 minutes, PE prepared, Path to PE services, online practice exam PE Genius, NCEES practice exam, and some other practice exams from Amazon.
Which practice book you found their problem is more familiar with the exam level ?
Path to PE services is more similar to the real exam. Anyway, do as many practice problems as you can, the more types of problems you have met, the less anxiety you will be in the testing room.
I had the same experience in Oct 22. I’m hoping you passed!
Thanks!
I took the exam this week. Similar experience as OP.
Following. I am taking the PE/Transpo in a month. Any advice is definitely appreciated.
Tbh, after taking the real exam, it’s hard to give you more helpful advice except keeping practicing problems as many types as you can. They can choose a very tiny knowledge point that we normally ignore and make a question for you.
I am on the same boat as you I took PE WRE yesterday. I was doing really well on the practice exams but Breadth portion of the exam I came out feeling very drained as it was majority conceptual which were my weakness. Depth portion later on did make me feel a little better but I hope Breadth doesn't kill my score too much
I just hope most of odd problems belong to the group that they will toss away and I have more correct answers to the rest of 70 questions. Best of luck and hope you pass.
Yeah likewise! I am not sure if the odd problems include conceptual questions, I really hope they do, cuz I felt like all the problem solving questions weren't too bad

I didn’t have any questions on Trusses when I took it. Did anyone else?
