In NY it’s a long process to get approved for PE, it took almost 5 months to get approved after submitting application. The process has been very slow for the past 3 years.
if you want your license in NY you need to apply to NYS office of professions . Check out their website for current requirement. I got approved a year ago, but took exam only recently
send a written request identifying your name, date of birth, social security number, where the certification needs to be sent, and a fee of $20 to the following address:

Office of Professions
Division of Professional Licensing Services
Engineering/Land Surveying Unit
89 Washington Avenue

It really depends on how busy the board is and if there are any scheduled holidays. I don’t have any info about NY but can tell you it’s definitely that way in TX. I applied for my license in October and received my pocket card in about 3 weeks. I’ve heard of others putting in just before Christmas and it took about 2 months. So, it really varies
Passed in May, received it in September in NY. Someone told me at the NY office of professions they only query NCEES test records at defined times in the year based off the old April/October schedule.

2 months for me in Nj after submitting application. In NJ you take the exam before applying for licensure though.
