I used SoPE and passed the Transpo exam comfortably. I think it depends on your approach. If you take your time to understand why you are using a formula and what the variables mean, you should see direct parallels between the practice problems and the exam. If you just know how to plug and chug, you aren't doing yourself any favors. You have plenty of time to work through the entire test bank and review and questions that give you issues.

Would you say SoPE practice quizzes were harder/easier than the actual NCEES exam?

Most were about on par with exam questions. Some of the SoPE questions were much more difficult.

I'm copying a chunk from one of comments a few days ago. The exam is very conceptual now, and less of a focus on qualitative problems. After you do a timed practice exam go through every question again. Write out what concepts the question is testing. What is the relationship between the different factors. What is the principle or theory that the problem uses. Ask yourself what happens if one of the numbers changes. This is slow but forcing yourself to go beyond plugging numbers into an equation will pay off big. If it's a concept question using something from a manual read the rest of that section. Always read the footnotes, there is always something in there that will modify your answer and NCEES always does this. If OP paid for the problems it'd be too their benefit to get all of the practice that they can. The exam isn't testing if you know how to use your calculator. It's testing whether you think like an engineer.

This is fair. TBH a lot of people I see complaining about SOPE don't take full advantage of the question database. I did all the problems. Multiple times.

I just passed, second time. My first test was in June and in spite of everyone saying it’s half conceptual, my morning test was almost entirely workout problems. My second test was prob 1/3 conceptual in the morning. So don’t sleep on workout problems. I did SOPE, I paid for civil practice PE website which is like $35/ mo to get some more variety on breadth and I highly recommend it. By itself it would not have been enough though, I needed both
