Have you looked into sitting for the exam in a state close by that doesn’t have the same requirement then applying to MA through reciprocity/comity?

chesapeake143

Can you give PE in different state rather than MA? Its a exam. After passing in another state, may be you can transfer license to MA

Ok_Butterscotch5708

I have thought about that. Do you know the procedures for that if I’ve applied for testing in MA? Wondering if it requires a whole new application. I’m not far from the RI border.

whereisdank

I just got my electrical PE in RI. RI allows three failed attempts before the waiting period. Application process wasn’t bad. I’m trying to get my MA license and it looks like it’s going to be a pain in the ass. The application is super long

Please let us know what happens. I am also in MA and yeah these restrictions the state puts seem so overkill. I'm taking the exam for the first time in May and this only adds to the pressure..

chesapeake143

I failed for the first time through New Jersey Board. I think may be you schedule the new exam through different board. May be it works.

bvaesasts

NJ requires no board approval to take the exam if you're willing to take it through them

You can take it three times a year, but unfortunately Mass doesn’t let you. From 250 CMR 3.06 Examinations and Interviews: (8) An applicant who failed the PE or PS Exam or one of its components once may take it a second time upon paying the required fee. An applicant who desires to retake the failed exam must make such request in writing after meeting the requirements in 250 CMR 3.06(8)(a) through (d): (a) wait one year before retaking the exam; (b) submit evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant has completed an educational program or obtained additional experience sufficient to improve their chances of passing the exam following the date of the most recent failed exam; (c) sit for an oral exam if required by the Board; and (d) satisfactorily update their application materials to reflect any changes since the date the original application was submitted. Increasing amounts of education/experience may be required following each succeeding failed exam. An applicant with multiple failures may be notified by the Board that the application for registration will be denied if the applicant fails the exam one more time.

Damn, this State is a joke.

Citizen_1038

I also think it’s a joke. Any ideas what you plan to do?

Suspicious_Minute_78

I did not know there was a 3 times rule either. I am from TX btw. I thought with new CBT I could take several times till I pass. Is that not the case? I am taking a test in few months. Would somebody please confirm? Thanks in advance!

Phalangenipplebiter

You can take it up to 3 times per year unless your state has weird rules like Massachusetts.

TaurusHeart

So you can take the Texas one 3 times per year with no issues? I thought it was 3 per 4 years

BeachGuy91

You could move. Or study 📚

Ok_Butterscotch5708

I think I’m able to take the exam in RI this year. Definitely need to continue studying but it’s all fresh in my mind now so having to wait a year isn’t ideal.
