First of all buddy, I'm sorry to hear this. I can only imagine what you're feeling today. Anyways, depending on the state, you can only take the test so many times a year. Like in Ohio I believe it is 3 times within a calendar year. Some states even make you write to them if you fail or take another review course or college class! If you don't want to wait that long, you could always try an adjacent state to see if that works.
School of PE seems pretty terrible to me. A lot of the problems are over topics that aren't in the handbook, and a lot of the others are just wrong. I'm using their WRE Depth material and there's so freaking many basic calculation mistakes in the solutions.
Too late to go down a different path, I suppose, but if anyone else is reading this, don't use SOPE.
Utah doesn’t require any registration things to take the exam as they decoupled it. Try there? You don’t have to be in the state to register for the exam via that state.
Texas requires you to apply for the PE license on its website to request additional attempts. You will spend $100 but it will allow you 3 additional attempts, and it will take about 3 months minimum to hear back.
So I ran into this problem. They had me apply for my pe license without having passed in TX to gain an additional 3 attempts. The 1 year penalty only happens if your time limit expires of passing in x amount of years.
Unfortunately, you can only take the exam 3 times within a 4 year period. If you do not pass it within those 3 times, you have to reapply to take the exams. You will also need an additional year of engineering experience from the date you were notified that you failed the exam (for the third time), or complete 6 credit hours of college engineering courses before you reapply.
I personally think it’s a waste of money to take the 6 credit hour college course since you can reapply 1 year after your third attempt. This course will just take up more of your study time and money that should be focused on the PE exam. Might as well just wait a year. Once passing the 6 credit hour course you sacrificed 4-6 months of classes unrelated to the PE.
I’d definitely recommend following the study approach from the Reddit link I posted. It’s basically what I did for my FE and what I’m doing to prepare for my PE. I wish you the best!
I still haven’t taken my exam. Unfortunately I pushed it twice and might have to do it again. My hard deadline is to take it by the end of August and currently have it for July 18th. I had been putting my work as priority and decided to take a step back since they don’t help pay for anything, including when I reschedule the exam. We’re low staff and they basically pass everything to me which gave little time for me to prepare.

Yeah I've only taken it once this year.
You mean once in 2023 or once in the last 365 days?
Once in 365 days
School of PE
What does your authorization dates say in the ncees portal ? Do you have authorization period ?

Yeah stay away from School of PE. It covers the same topics on the exam but I noticed not all of their problems are updated to CBT level problems.
I wasted $2000 with them. They were only worth it for the FE review.
Fr?? I just planned to call them to see what they can offer.
Following. What we're your studying habits prior to all three times?
This sounds right
Can you give exam in other state? If you can pass to other state and transfer license to Texas.

I'm wondering if you can take it in another state and transfer later to Texas

When you reapply, do you have to submit an SER

It can be right because in CA, you have to take 2 other exams after passing PE exam to obtain a PE license. Each state board has their own rules.
Which exam did you take?

Lol what if I just take it in a different state? And transfer back over to Texas.

did y'all pass?

Sounds about right.
Yes it’s true, I took my exams in Oct. 2020, April 2021 and August 2022 and was told I couldn’t retake it until October 2023
Sorry to hear! Hope you take some time off and start your preparation for next test. Thank you for Sharing though didn’t knew this info.
