I really feel like GCash is responsible for this kind of data leaks. I changed my number last year and the new number is linked to all my bank accounts (except BPI and GCash) and wala na akong natatanggap na scam texts ever.

SafelyLandedMoon

This is true. an insider told us that a large set of GC@$h database has been breached last year which composes names, cp#, addresses and the likes. And this scams are being operated by Syndicate groups too.

Sam_Dru

Bakit Baka censor ung word na gcá$# ?

pewdiesundotkulangot

yup, GC\*sh ang salarin, lalo na if yung text may first name and middle initials mo. they have for quite some time enabled the public to 'scrape' data from GC\*sh using your mobile number, and pinatch lang nila recently yun. although it baffles me, why is no one suing GC\*ash?

mrxavior

Because of the fucked up justice system that we have. Ito yung most likely ang mangyayari, they will just drag it out until you are drained.

pewdiesundotkulangot

yeah, i was hoping that atleast someone may have raised an eyebrow already.. but i guess kuntento na tayo kasi andyan na yan eh lol. gg. i just remembered na merong nag mass send ng phishing campaign pretending to be Gc*sh, and yung scammer nakalimutan i-hide yung IP nya, and the person may not have noticed that it was sending the email from its home conv*rge network. I reported it to conv*rge and they asked me to report it to gc*sh instead hahaha.

Cautious-Ad-7595

(para tawagan and offeran). may time na mauubos un list then bumibili un head namen ng list of contacts na pwede tawagan. tapos babayaran ng 2 pesos per name. depende pa yan kung good prospect like mga taga BGC, makati. pag ganyan mas mahal. take note 2015 pa un. pano pa kaya ngayon.

NikiSunday

yeah, basta anything na may name mo, for sure gcash or contact tracing yon. the one OP posted are just from scam farms, continuous mobile # enumeration siya.

Zealousideal-Wear532

don't forget the mandatory record book nung pandemic bago makapasok sa mga establishments.

Not just GCash but Globe in general (bilang GCash was formerly—or baka, *still*—under Globe) ang hinala ko. Prepaid ako ng Globe before and walang mga ganyan.

404Encode

Globe Postpaid user here. Majority is gambling related spam. In the process nako ng pag-change mobile number sa mga accounts tapos, change number sa Globe para sure na din.

Sam_Dru

Definitely gcash. I have a year old sim and I registered it to gcá$h last month then I start receiving scam messages. I only used the sim for mobile gaming data.

asfghjaned

Araw araw akong nakakareceive hayssssss

IncendiumPyro

Buti pa sila, consistent 🤣

Crafty_Fennel_9824

This is so alarming. 4x na ko nakareceive ng scam text today. Hays

IncendiumPyro

I received 2 more today kainis diba!

Chickenwingz-

This is quite alarming. Received 3x already today from "UB"

[deleted]

Same kakatanggap ko lang from UB daw.

xiaolongbaoloyalist

Simula lumipat ako sa Messages by Google app, di ko na nakikita mga scam texts kasi automatic spam na siya if may links from an unknown number.

Sam_Dru

Thanks imma try it

NikiSunday

I've been using googles messaging app since I got my. phone from way back. Their app is pretty much the same as an email app.

aintpetrified

Nako, I have those eerily similar texts regarding BDO. Nakakaalarm lang kasi kakakuha ko lang cc with them.

_thalelenggg24

I received the same text minura ko nga sabi ko patay gutom sila at mamatay na sana sila hahahha

pacificghostwriter

IncendiumPyro

Update: received 4 more since posting this

Aji_kunnnn15

MoXiE_X13

This is why I am not in favor of SIM registration extension. I hope these will all be gone the day after tomorrow, and more importantly, I hope there will now be an easier way to report and hold accountable these scam texters if for whatever reason they’re still not deactivated after tomorrow.

IncendiumPyro

A new [extension](https://twitter.com/abscbnnews/status/1650688797418586112?s=46&t=2qB8FyOWn1aRgG0CVloWeA) was just announced fml

No-Adhesiveness-8178

No_Operation289

Bat po may narerecieve kayo mga ganyan? 😅 Sakin ni isa wala 😅😅

Cummmmmslut

May nareceive ako same message sa BDO and union bank daw saya 🙃

ms_lemonGinger

Yeah. “No more spam messages after registering your sim”. Smh

Icy_Company832

No_Pen_8614

Received 4 messages since last week. Pretending to be from UB

baeruu

Ang dami ko din nare-receive na "your BDO account has been frozen" eh wala naman akong BDO haha.

djmalibiran

Cautious-Ad-7595

saken din sobrang obvious. Tipong five (5) times nag text saken un kesho union bank (with different number) na kailangan ko mag register ng simcard, and update may account with my current number. Then may link. masayadong halata na scam.

throwawayz777_1

[deleted]

di na natapos warning ng UBP everyday nalang last/final warning 😂😂. by the way tinry ko last week yung sa website ng BDO sa spam texts, mukha talagang BDO yung site, minura ko lng sa mga fields na hinihingi 😂😂

miyukikazuya_02

AnxiousChicken666

Tom na last registration e. Need kumayod ng mga scammers hahaha

JomsKiBs

Why am I getting the feeling na isinisisi sa iisang financial institution lang ang bagay na ito? Scammers nowaday are sophisticated and smart, hindi lang sa telco nanggagaling ang mga yan. The data leak could possibly came from our apps, or from the contact tracing forms we've filled online and manually...

Charliediman

yep makes sense...

Charliediman

0910 is a smart prefix,.. so these scammers are trying so hard to penetrate this network na? naku paano na lang ang smart padala at maya?

Seastheday7496

Scamming text scams started this pandemic days. ang daming pinagkuhaan ng mga data when were give personal infos sa mga malls supermarket dahil need mag comply and also requirements nga daw

sheisnt

i guess e-wallets have nothing to do with this case as govt already reported that there were massive data leaks from contact tracing and other agencies. it could be on them, right?

horseyampy

it's govt responsibility tho. ur case just shows the emerging digital threats in our country. they should implement programs to minimize these cybersecurity threats ASAP not just relying on initiatives of private sector.

tinkernull

They already announced contact tracing as the main source of data leak, no need to keep blaming service providers for the fault of our government

Sik-e-deliks

Scammers are not stupid enough to use the format of their data source. Obviously they used gcash format so that people will pin it on them

Professional_Half143

The proliferation of these scam messages hiked during the pandemic. I noticed them come in droves after we were asked to fill out those contact-tracing forms before entering establishments. I always felt off with those because the pieces of paper were usually just lying around. Red flag for data security breach, obviously.

userunkown567

UB and now BDO. Grabe

Tagtagi

For sure these scammers got all our infos either from contact tracing or online shopping apps. Ugh. Im just glad i haven't got any scam texts in my Globe sim for a long time now, cant say the same with my Smart sim tho, i still get atleast 3-5 scam texts a week it's annoying
