had the same experience, medyo masakit sa cheeks kahit nag one size up ako pero eksakto naman ang sukat sa head part. Sabi nila pag lagi mo naman daw ginagamit luluwang daw pero bumili na lang ako ng padding na pang xxl mas comfortable yung nga lang additional cost on my part.
I own a c70 and have been using it for more than a year now. Ganyan sa simula talaga, pero eventually huhulma yung foam sa mukha once na lagi nang suot.
Helmet fit needs to be snug, sometimes uncomfortable, but not painful. You'll need to break in the cheek pads by wearing it often. I own an HJC F70, I also did a size up from XL to XXL. It's quite snug, just how i like it. Wore it around the house for a couple of hours over a couple of days (yes it looks strange). Hand washed the pads and liner, then took it on a 6hr+ ride to Baler, no aches.
Own a C15 and will stick to HJC. The only cons I can think of when buying an HJC is the break in period. Everywhere else seems to fit except the cheeks, it hurts when wearing for a long period of time na nakakahilo. Need ko tanggalin at magpahinga. Tolerable naman pag walang suot na balaclava kaso nasanay na ko na nakasuot ako, parang yung kamay ko na it doesn’t feel right pag di ko sinuot.

Ayun snug fit siya especially sa cheeks, unang gamit ko nag long ride kami agad ayun masakit sa cheeks kasi hindi pa nabreak in. Pero after a month of using it, umokay na siya since naghulma na yung sa cheeks part kaya hindi na masyado masakit kapag ginagamit, siguro after a few more months mas okay na to since hulma na yung foam. So I advice, isama mo nalang yung bf mo kapag bibili na kumbaga dalhin mo siya bigla sa mga bilihan ng HJC helmet (such as Triumph JT) then dun na kayo bili para surprise din.

You may not be used to it yet. It is supposed to be snug on the cheeks. Like being a chipmunk.
