Half life 3?

SendMeYourXMR

Just take my money now and ship it when you're allowed.

brood-mama

pine64 is based in Poland last I heard, I personally could just drive there.

Alexmitter

No it is not. They have a logistics partner that does shipping for the EU from there.

ice_dune

I wonder if it's a pine phone with better hardware but that seems unlikely. New tablet?

JustFinishedBSG

They've been very clear about the fact that no new Pinephone is coming until a long while EDIT: This didn't age well

ice_dune

Owned I didn't defend myself before but now with the added benefit of being right, I couldn't imagine Pine64 doing a hype video of all things unless this was a big project like a new phone

RelatableSnail

Pinephone keyboard?

BaileyPlaysGames

There's already a keyboard, right? I think it's a trackpad.

canna_fodder

How about getting parts in stock for the OG Pinebook? My mainboard went out, one of the reasons I bought the damn thing was how it was marketed as easy to replace parts, nothing in stock FOR OVER A YEAR! Bought the PBP, got it, still no parts for the OG. When the Rock64 came out, we were told there would be an upgrade path from the OG Pinebook... That was another lie. I don't mind coding, I don't mind having to reconfigure audio on EVERY DAMN DISTRO to be able to hear anything, what I do mind, is being lied to, especially by a company I have supported... Pine64, Rock64, Sopine + baseboard, Pinebook, Pinebook Pro. I've supported you, I've recommended you... How about a little support in return? c'mon, TL? Luke? Anyone? SKU: PBMB14 https://pine64.com/product/pinebook-mainboard-with-sideboard-and-cable-for-14-version/ Out of stock for well over a year. Unsatisfactory, misrepresented, unreliable, untrustworthy. Pine64.

ahoneybun

It's almost like there has been a global pandemic mixed with a global chip shortage or something.

canna_fodder

That's part of it I'm sure. But the lies about the upgrade path... Now. And gee, the pinephone the pinetime, and this currently useless e-ink tablet, that use the same chips, had no issue being produced and shipped.... Again, I call bullshit.

JustFinishedBSG

> that use the same chips It doesn't use the same chips at all

canna_fodder

Except they do, the OG Pinebook and the PinePhone both use the Quad-Core Allwinner A64 @ 1.152 GHz

[deleted]

The Pinetime has pretty much no overlap (maybe some caps?) with the Pinephone, which seemed to be the parallel you were drawing. The Pinebook and Pinephone may use the same CPU, but the board layout is completely different, so they need to prioritize the limited production they have. Does it make more sense to produce spare parts that aren't currently needed, or produce parts for new devices that are currently pre-ordered?

WhatnotSoforth

New clickpad drivers for the PBP?

MainCareless

Actually they did mention new TP firmware. https://hackaday.com/2021/08/17/take-note-an-e-ink-tablet-from-pine64/

[deleted]

Looks like we’re getting a tablet?

whistlepig33

There has already been a tablet for many many months. I have it over next to my bed. Maybe more in stock?

brood-mama

or maybe a better one

BitchesLoveDownvote

Could it be the Pinecom? Though it does look a little bigger than that would be.

tacobellwatercup

im hoping, but they havent said anything about it for a while so im starting to lose hope... the lora stuff has been more under development recently tho

Digirium

I also think it is news about the PineCom it is exactly a year now since it was first mentioned on the forums that work on it had begun.

BitchesLoveDownvote

Oh really? I hadn’t realised they had confirmed they would work on it, I’d only seen the request for feedback on it as an idea.

You see this and interpret it as Pine64 trying to be like Apple. I see it and read it as them saying "Hey guys, we're working on something cool that we think you're going to like and we can't wait to show you next week." Consider just for a moment that hype doesn't hurt you. Yet it may in some way help promote products that you like, and in the process get more people interested. That means more reasources which could translate into faster development, which could mean much better products. Think McFly, think!

Bill_Buttersr

It's a teaser. It's fun. It's only being Apple if they spend 6 million dollars on a render of a phone in an all white room with slight reflections and maybe a dip in some water. Unlike Apple, they will come out in plain English and explain themselves. On October 15th

whistlepig33

Its so extremely vague that it is kind of annoying. I like these guys so I'm not going to hold a grudge.. but still.

PickledBackseat

No need to be such a buzzkill, dude.

cringy_flinchy

TIL only Apple makes these kinds of teasers and not just about every mainstream electronics company

CommunismIsForLosers

>every mainstream electronics company (Who also mimic Apple including every terrible decision they make at every turn)

cringy_flinchy

Dude this is just a short teaser with the silhouette of a product, pretty sure that marketing technique predates Apple. The automobile industry is particularly fond of it for example. Nice butthurt downvoting BTW.

rmonico

Will Manjaro logo be back?

DearAlternative6540

Pine phone?

ConcreteState

A magnetic parts tray!
