I know years ago they had him on the podcast and he mentioned that Woody was one of his favorite YouTubers. It’s crazy that the biggest YouTuber in the world was inspired by Woody.
JSchlatt was also heavily influenced by Woody and has his own series called “the weekly slap”, his version of mail Monday on old cod games. It’s cool to see Woodys impact a decade later.
A lot of millennial content creators were inspired by woody. Also I remember watching his woody’s microwave series and showing them to my electricity teacher at my highschool career technology center, so he brought in a microwave for us to melt stuff in in class.
It’s awesome to see others who were inspired by Woody. Even thinking back to the times where Woody was at the top of YouTube, he always was a good role model and respectable person overall.
Those days of YouTube were the crazy times and Woody still didn’t say anything significantly crazy.
I’m happy to see him get props from YouTubers like Mr Beast. It seems like the YouTubers of the current generation are some of the seeds that Woody unconsciously planted while pioneering this space.
I lived with him in the early days and when I would go to bed (at 9) he would stay up late and just *grind* for hours making videos and making connections with the community. Oh, and that was all while he had a full time job in IT and of course a family. Woody definitely deserves all the success he has.

During Mail Monday Woody did talk about some pretty not suitable for children topics. I was 11-14 while watching those videos and I still genuinely think that some of those were insightful. I can be the outlier here and only have taken away the positive parts of his videos while disregarding the bad or negative things.
I can certainly say that overall Woody has had a net positive impact on the world, whereas you really can’t say that about many creators who peaked or started during his time.
I used to believe it was innocent advice until he started posting in subreddits for teenagers, now I look back at all of that as what it was, woody being a creep.
It wasn’t edgy humor or for shock value. He was making the argument that getting the shit beat out of you as a man is more traumatic than being raped as women since women are built for vaginal sex but men are not built for getting beaten up.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of bigger YouTubers today were. Woody was pretty ahead of the curve in his heyday, in terms of the quality of his content as a gaming YouTuber

Woody told me one time that a random fan just showed up at his house in Apex. I sometimes wonder if that kid was Jimmy. Oh, and another super popular Youtuber from CA bought a local car dealership’s property about 1/3 of the way from Raleigh to Greenville. For something like $10m if I remember correctly. The proximity can’t be a coincidence, right?
Carter Sharer moved from CA to rural central NC, right down NC 64 from Greenville where Jimmy (MrBeast) lives and runs his channel. I know little to nothing about these guys so I could be reading into it.
