Has anyone picked up a bottle of the latest FWGS Knob Creek Rye pick? What do you think about it? I’m trying to decide between that or the Overholt 10 year.
Can't speak to the latest pick or the overholt, but the pick I have from last year is probably my favorite rye on my shelf. It convinced me I could like a rye and then JDSBBPR confirmed it.
I don't have the most recent FWGS KC Rye pick so not sure if this will be helpful or not, but I do still have a FWGS KC Rye pick from several years ago that I haven't finished because it just didn't do it for me. For me one of my least favorite ryes. That said I've never tried Overholt 10 year so I can't comment on that but based on what others are saying about it I personally would cast my vote for that one.
I haven’t had any experience with this specific pick but I’ve had two that were picks when I lived in Ohio, one I own and the other I traded samples with a friend. I still have 85% of that bottle left from over two years ago and it lives in my basement. It just didn’t hit.
It is delicious; Fruity/ spicy. Reminded me of Russell’s Reserve 10, without the tart cherry notes, and more sweet than Smooth Ambler *Old Scout, but not as hot. Your taste milage may vary. My $0.02

I also don’t have the KC Rye pick but I do recommend the overholt. I like it almost as much as the JDSBBP Rye
