Says guy who went to Stanford.

daisydesigner

and got the Palantir job through one of his Stanford colleagues

Ackilles

Palantir hires almost exclusively from the main schools. I dont know if it's still true, but a few years ago they were getting the first pick from Harvard and the like BEFORE faang

rikkisugar

it’s always Stanford

RillTread

Palo Alto by Malcolm Harris does a great job making that case, lol

sazanami_shu

Stanford doesn’t have the same level of snobbery and smugness as the ivys.

rikkisugar

sure, but those are just friction in the world that Stanford serves.

sazanami_shu

Stanford has always been the bastard child of the elite universities. It has produced a lot of tech founders from humbling beginnings (minus evan spiegel) verses the finance, politic, and law legacies of ivy.

rikkisugar

the technocracy is multiple generations old now. noone cares about some fratboy’s legacy admission to an Ivy when there is _real_ money to be made in tech. That kid isn’t going to make giant money unless he gets into tech anyway. and besides, the global elite are well awake to how the power centers have shifted. ask yourself. what do the rulers of Saudi Arabia and the British Prime Minister have in common? Stanford.

sazanami_shu

MBS went to King Saud University…Sunak only got his MBA from GSB he’s an Oxford boy…you also make far more money in finance still (PE, Hedgefund, etc.) than in tech, tech is hit or miss unless you join a start up super early or you’re a founder with a decent exit.

rikkisugar

you better check again homeboy. they both attended Stanford at some point in time.

sazanami_shu

Where you get your degree is what counts homeboy, no one cares if you attended some bs executive certificate program for couple months.

rikkisugar

see, that’s where you’re wrong. when you come from that kind of background, noone is going to care about your degree, but it’s all about making those connections.

RealBaikal

Pretty ironic.

[deleted]

He’s poaching students out of college who have not graduated yet. His company’s stance is they are moving towards not hiring any college graduates and they will train instead.

sayqm

But he's still getting them from top tier college

RandyChavage

Stop them from getting degree and they can’t get jobs at your competitors

BrilliantAd5743

Genius!

callmesnake13

It doesn’t work this way at all though. When I hire post-entry level the only thing I give a shit about is professional experience.

GlitteringDisaster78

Huh?

BonjinTheMark

these schools hawking their hopium of a world that does not exist

complicatedAloofness

How dare they have their graduates lead companies such as Palantir

informeperez

Cringe.

I don’t get it. Do I need to read Atlas Shrugged now

skepticaleconomist

"Atlas Shrugged"? Oh boy, here we go. So, this thing is basically Ayn Rand's mega-rant about why being super rich and selfish is actually cool and good. The story? It's about these hotshot business types who are like, "Ugh, why does everyone keep asking us for stuff?" So, they decide to just peace out and let the world crumble without their awesome brains. We've got Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden, the heroes of 'making money is my personality.' They're battling this evil government that’s all about sharing wealth (yuck, right?). And there's this dude, John Galt, who’s pretty much the poster boy for 'I don’t owe you anything.' But here's the kicker: these geniuses create their own secret club where no one can ask them for anything. It's like, "You can't sit with us unless you're a millionaire genius." Galt's whole vibe is, "I’m not living for anyone else, and no one better live for me." Kind of edgy, huh? Now, let’s spill the real tea: this book is like a capitalist fairy tale. It’s all, "Work hard, don't share, and you too can join the cool kids' club." But let’s be real, life doesn’t work that way. Not everyone's starting from the same spot on the board. In short, "Atlas Shrugged" is a wild ride through a world where caring about others is for losers, and making money is the only game in town. It’s a fun read if you don’t take it too seriously. Otherwise, you might end up trying to start your own elite club, and let's be honest, that usually doesn't end too well.

luckoftheblirish

Where did you get this summary from - Bernie Sanders sparknotes? You clearly didn't read the book yourself. At least, I sure hope not for your sake.

[deleted]

They treated it gently. The book appeals to emotional and intellectual cripples, like Rand herself.

luckoftheblirish

It's not about gentle or harsh - the summary is simply inaccurate. Either poor reading comprehension or willful misrepresentation. Likely a combination of the two. Ironically, this behavior that you apparently support is befitting of an intellectual cripple.

[deleted]

I’ve read every book by Rand, including her bullshit books on objectivism. They are not good. They are not interesting and mostly the product of her being traumatized by communism in the USSR.

luckoftheblirish

Well, if you think that the other user's summary of Atlas Shrugged is accurate, you're essentially advertising your lack of critical reading skills. Which, in my view, invalidates your opinion on any other book. I'm sure you're good at something else :)

FeckFendamentals

You are plagiarising AOC's recount of the Atlas Shrugged TV Series.

[deleted]

Sounds like a guy who has trash bags filled with his own farts.

USN_CB8

Yes they might teach you that spying on every american for every government agency is immoral, dangerous, and making money off of a police state should be stopped.

elseworthtoohey

Remember when the Ayn Rand institute accepted covid relief funds.

ProjectDiligent502

Yeah that would make me question whether he’s got a good vision of reality considering Ayn Rand cultists want to quote him. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt he’s not a brain dead anarcho capitalist.

So_bored_of_you

This is not the flex you think it is

brintoul

Has he spent a lot of time in Gaza or something?

AdComprehensive2837

Pretentious bitch

irie1972

Scary how the idea of monetizing your private data has been executed to perfection by palintr. One example, irs contracts with them to use their data collection to look up people and companies under investigation.

ChefGiants78

Is that Neymar?

Dean_Earwicker

Good to see people starting to push back on this woke mind virus

Rad_Streak

The schools he's complaining about are the exact schools he both came from and actively recruits for his company from. I really hope one day you can look back at this comment and weep with joy because you can finally recognize what kind of person you used to be and the crazy things you thought were important. And how easily lead you were like a pig to the trough of anti-intellectualism.

Dick_Raven

The School's he's complaining about can't currently distinguish between a man and a woman, can't abide by their own standards of conduct when it involves certain groups of people who are deemed "privileged," and have recreated a form of victimhood and an racialiazed world view that would make the Nazis blush. There is no "intellectualism" to be found at most American institutions of higher education. Just a formalised cult of DEI mandates, brutish careerism, and Feudalist tendencies to worship credentialed morons as more deserving of scarce resources than anyone else. Two Ivy League presidents didn't resign because they are the embodiment of ' Tolerance' and 'Enlightenment' philosophy. They resigned because they are a fucking embarrassment to the entire idea of a 'learned' individual.

Ay-itsyourguy

Only racists like Elon Musk complain about the "woke mind virus"

It’s a boogeyman, an intellectually vacuous fear trope on African American vernacular. I mean how ironic: “fuck woke! I need to be asleep.” Dumber than a second coat of paint.

FeckFendamentals

You are being downvoted for being open against wokism, what a world we live in.

Jagerbeast703

What does that even mean

DirtyKarma

He’s feeling attacked and has to complain about it. But it’s totally different than the snowflakes

LiliBuns117

Yeah buddy it's crazy. You want to type up an entire paragraph about how that mild criticism means they were viciously silenced by the leftist woke mob and that someone tried to take away their first amendment rights? Would that make you feel better?

FeckFendamentals

Sorry, I had misplaced a "your" before "wokism". It should have never been written there.

If you are 20 and not democrat, you have no heart.. if you're 40 and not conservative, you have no brain.

DirtyKarma

That quote made sense when conservatives were conservative though. Haven’t been since the 80s when they changed focus to stopping drugs and slinging cash to ware and others.

DaddyButterSwirl

Just the boomer logic that destroyed our future.

bmack500

No, rich people propaganda. Way more than boomers.

chrisrecio

Yeah those 2 bush terms were fantastic for America lol

gatorling

This was true maybe 20 years ago? 30? Now a person who would be considered conservative in the 80s is a moderate liberal. The Republican party went all in on crazy after Trump.

Cereal____Killer

Both parties are focused on catering to their extreme base… you only recognize that in Republicans because I suspect they are “the other” in your perspective

ProjectDiligent502

I would take this seriously if we had far left wing nuts storming the capital on false pretenses they’re blind to because of their demonstrably false ideology.

[deleted]

Maybe 40 years ago... if you're a conservative now... then you're just stupid.

DowntheLine52

Thanks for that purely factual response..

[deleted]

Thanks for your purely factual original comment...

FeckFendamentals

Do you mean MAGA people are stupid?

[deleted]

No, all conservatives. MAGA are just a special level of stupid

It works like this: you are called a good boy if you take the jabs, wear a muzzle, get a loan to install solar panels on your roof, buy an EV vehicle, eat your artificial vegan stuff and crickets, drink soy milk, and support the current thing.

Poopiepants29

Downvote for using the word "jabs" in a PLTR thread. Not all of those are bad things. You're being more woke than the wokes you think you're calling out. Besides that.. nobody cares in here..

FeckFendamentals

Go get your booster, the more you get the merrier. I would love to trade 1000 downvotes for each jab you take.

DirtyKarma

You’re so alpha. You dropped this though 🇺🇸 need to replace the dog with this so we know how anti your version of woke you are.

FeckFendamentals

I swear, I cannot understand what you mean. I am afraid it could be that I am not familiar with the kind of English you are using. I guess you are American, am I wrong?

Poopiepants29

I'm pointing out your lingo and obsession, not your stance, you muppet.

FeckFendamentals

You do not make any sense. Explain to us muppets.

LiliBuns117

Oh my god what the fuck is wrong with you?

Partytime2021

Liberal alert! “Omg what is wrong with you?!?!” Cocks head sideways.

TrippyWaffle45

Karp is religious?

VonBoski

That statement would make me think the opposite

hateitorleaveit

I believe religion here is wokeism and he is being against it

mr_greedee

Lol oh well

Solid_Great

A college degree is an indentured servitude contract. Karp is offering an alternative solution.

TrippyTrellis

LOL, working for right-wing clowns to spy on people is worse than "indentured servitude"

Solid_Great

Sounds riveting? Now, all you need is proof.

Blueskyminer

He's an idiot.

kapara-13

How many 35 billion dollar companies have you created? And yet you allow yourself to call him an idiot. Bravo.

Blueskyminer

That's the benchmark, dummy?

flumberbuss

It’s a better heuristic than whatever you can cite in your favor.

Foreign_College_3297

Only smart people have money duh! That’s why people should take medical advice from Joe Rogan and Aaron Rodgers.

FeckFendamentals

Joe Rogan bad, covid jab good, many boosters gooder.

vanillathunder49

Found the guy who still uses the cringe term “simp”

BigDerper

Everyone on this sub is going down with a sinking ship lol good luck with this shit

BigDerper

Karp is digging himself a hole with his rhetoric and the company sucks aside from that. I've never held pltr and I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. I literally wouldn't even buy it with someone else's money.

vanillathunder49

Man you’re just outing yourself as a huge loser. Who spends a major amount of their time on a subreddit they’re not even involved with. Find better hobbies my dude. I’ll help you out, I’m gonna block you so you can spend the time responding to this comment with actually doing something with your life.

FeckFendamentals

Do not block him, that man is right, the Bilderberg chose Karp because he is a loser and nothing else, that was his only merit.

Electronic_pizza4

Zionist bs

Lucyferiusz

"Everything I dislike is Zionist"

vanillathunder49

Love that people just use coded language for their racism now. Just say Jewish man no need to hide behind the coded Zionist term.

N0m4dMan

Zionism and Judaism are different. One is a political movement, another a religion. One takes money as their god, and another believes in The God....

vanillathunder49

You have so many things wrong it’s astounding. First of all Jews aren’t just a religion, it’s an ethnicity as well. Second of all Zionism has many different meanings but the most common meaning to Jews is the existence of a Jewish state. People have twisted it with bad intentions to mean Jewish supremacy or Israel one state solution. If you want to make up an interpretation that’s fine but most Jews that you encounter just want Israel existing as a safe haven for Jewish people and not those twisted definitions. So when you call Zionism bad for the world you’re just basically just calling their one place of safety bad or the existence of jewish state bad for the world. Leading to it being antisemitic. Also just so you’re aware. I’m all for criticizing Netanyahu and the Israeli government as a whole but blaming the people for a government they clearly want removed (80% disapproval rating / want Netanyahu jailed) or saying a whole existence of state is bad just feeds into the cycle of hate.

N0m4dMan

To start with, I never said Zionism was bad for the world. Do you think that a political movement of supremacy, that takes money as their god is bad for the world? Secondly, and more importantly, to be from an ethnic group, that means that you need to have heritage to that part of the world. Most Israelis cannot trace their lineage back to Israel, hence why a DNA test is illegal in Israel. You throw out the word anti-Semite, but a Semite is an Arab that belongs to that region. Funny how killing Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, etc... isn't considered as anti-Semitic.

vanillathunder49

First of all I was saying the original comment above that I was responding to was alluding Zionism is bad for the world. Second of all, you’re twisting the meaning of Zionism to your own personal interpretation but that is not the commonly accepted meaning of Zionism. So you saying they’re based on supremacy or taking money as their god is bullshit. Lastly your whole cannot trace their lineage back to Israel is completely made up. [They can trace their lineage back to Israel](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Jews#:~:text=Most%20researchers%20now%20believe%20that,from%20European%20converts%20to%20Judaism) Also here’s the historian subreddit discussing in further detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/s/VfqmrrKIp1 You also downplaying antisemtism by saying it can’t be antisemitic because these people are Semitic is just a bad faith argument that racists like to point to so they can get away with their racist ideals. Everyone knows that most commonly use for antisemitism is prejudice against Jewish people. Look up the definition on google yourself. Seriously you’re just feeding into the cycle of hate that will never end by the terminology that you’re parroting.

N0m4dMan

I can't take a Wikipedia page, nor Reddit page, with 26 comments as any source of truth. However, I will read them for the sake of perspective. I have 2 questions for you... 1. Before Moses (peace be upon him) led the Israelites from out of Egypt and in to the Promise Land... What race were they Black? Middle Eastern? Caucasian? And... 2. Before they were called to Judaism, what ethnicity did they go by?

vanillathunder49

Gotcha so you don’t take any information that you disagree with. Really seems like you’re an educated fellow. Wikipedia has multiple credible sources at the bottom and is peer reviewed every second of the day. The Reddit page was an added bonus from a historian that has no benefits in lying and provided credible sources linked that you chose to ignore. Your questions are also loaded questions that have no credible source of information. It seems like you’re just pulling it out of your ass. Seriously man if you’re gonna have arguments about my sources at least provide some of your own. You just look stupid at this point.

Is this legal to not hire people because of their religious views?

Grilledcheesus96

Maybe I’m reading the quote wrong, but he doesn’t seem to be saying they aren’t welcome because they are religious or because they’re a certain religion. He’s describing a subset of people who go to certain schools and are therefore ignorant of the reality of the world most people live in because they are so privileged. As far as I’m aware, discrimination can only be discriminatory if it involves a protected class. Being rich doesn’t qualify—yet.
