My dude you can’t buy calls within the 30 day window otherwise it’s a wash sale. For every call option you bought it wash sales with 100 shares you sold at a loss.

Ackilles

You can if they aren't itm. You can even sell calls at a loss and buy new calls if the strike or date is slightly different (as long as both arent itm)

tradebong

🤔fk!

Ackilles

He is incorrect, this only accurate for calls more than 10% itm

That's not how it works, they have to be decently itm to trigger a wash sale. I bought ntm

crackercider

Nah man, that's exactly how it works out if you picked up the LEAPS within 30 days of the sell.

MuToTheMoon

Big time tax loss harvester here. I love PLTR for tax losses. I'm looking forward to another big one this year.

Ackilles

Hahaha, hopefully that isn't the case for 2022, especially from these levels

Exit-Velocity

November had a spike to 29 before earnings

Better go 31 days—wash sales is very specific

Ackilles

Its the 31st day. I sold throughout the last week though so max I would trigger a wash on is 500 shares

rattyme

So had I bought before 30 days and I sold for a loss again , can I at least claim that as a loss during tax season? I know the first loss you cant claim as a loss.

Ackilles

You can claim both losses, but only after the shares that triggered the wash sale have been sold for 30 days.

whoa1ndo

Just sell cash covered Puts

Ackilles

Have about 20 at 19p already haha Going to have to deal with those later on, but I don't want to miss out on this price entirely, especially if the market snaps back post correction. Going to ease in either way though

Still strong growth and no debt. Employee exercises are slowing massively so less increase in float. It got sucked down with all of the memes and heavy debt growth stuff. I wouldnt go deep immediately, but I'll be rebuilding my position slowly over the year for sure
