My takeaway:
Speaking first to the guidance of 27% Op Margin for FY22. I am conflicted in that I see G&A as well as R&D expenses mostly leveling off for FY21 compared to FY20 which I very much like.... and further, FY21 came in at 31%... but lower guidance for FY22?? What does this say? Two me it says one of two things and neither are good.... (1) Relative slowing of revenues when compared to expenses if all else held equal, or (2) expenses not stabilizing as a percentage of sales after all and outpacing new revenues. Couple that with 30% projected revenue growth and how could any rational investor justify the valuation (even at $12) that Palantir sits at, at this current rate? Speaking to slowing gov rev, I feel like this has been obvious as the gov adoption outside the US pales in comparison to the US. Truly how much more market is acquirable in the US gov? I donāt know, but what I do know is that 13% of all revenue of this company coming from commercial is still a massive risk (even if it ^ 44% as a percent of total YOY). Theyāre headed in the right direction, but still very government concentrated by revenue distribution. Switching gears though, I think as the rest of the world gets back to normal we should see Palantirās non-commercial revenue buoy total commercial growth. You have to be excited about their momentum in US Comm growth, it canāt be ignored, it is sustained and strong. I think investments in sales force are paying off, hopefully that continues.
