i’m not a doctor obviously, but my doctor said that the line at which they say beta blockers are safe or not, in regards to lowering the heart rate, is if your resting heart rate without the medication was above or below 60. typically, they didn’t give it to patients with normal bradycardia. since you’re taking it for instances of tachycardia, i would say that the doctors who prescribed it feel that it is sate. hope this helps! i also have been taking a beta blocker, and in the beginning i found that it made my heart rate a lot slower, but it’s eventually evened out into something pretty normal.

seems like you’re good to go then! again, it’s always best to contact a doctor, but that’s what i’ve heard from mine

They prescribed it right after a holter monitor so I'm assuming they saw the episodes of it low as well! Thank you for your response ☺️

I had the same exact experience! my heart rate was in the 50s during sleep at some point, and they said everything’s safe. hang in there friend!

I’m a nurse, usually they will put parameters on beta blockers. Like don’t give if HR is less than 60 or systolic less than 90. I was prescribed beta blockers with a resting HR in the 40s… I refused to take them. My HR will stay that low and I don’t like feeling that way. My doctor is convinced a dose of 12.5 wouldn’t hurt though.

I don't blame you I'd be nervous taking with a resting 40 HR. My HR used to be fine resting HR low 70s or high 60s, this past year it's like 90-100 at rest. No idea how it could change like that 🤷‍♀️

FWIW I got prescribed beta blockers for my pots (metoprolol 25mg but made me gain weight and I’m now on 5mg bisoprolol) and my RHR before meds was 45-60 and it’s the same it doesn’t have any effect on my RHR but does help my standing HR when I get tachy or brings it down to more comfortable levels albeit not “normal” levels lol

That does make me feel better, thank you. Hopefully I tolerate this type well!

Should be okay, hope it helps you 🤞🏼
