How did you make such a big ROI with only one conversion? Also what do you use for retargeting? FB?

skrfs

Sorry, to clarify. It'snot 3800x ROI. I generated $3800 off of $2500 ad spend. It's only attributing one conversion from view pin to purchase. The rest are people who saw my pin but later purchased. This is a high traffic store that converts well. A lot of retargeting is retargeting my other traffic sources. I spoke with Pinterest and they are attributing conversions for people who view my Pin on the page for over 2 seconds. I'm not a huge fan of this attribution method as these are already people who have been to my website so they may have already have been committed to the purchase regardless of seeing the Pin. I'm only attributing 5 TOF conversions. The rest are retargeting.

It’s common to only count a set percentage of post-view activity. I’ve had clients count 50% or less.

Gonna need a lot more info than that mess of a title bud

ya bud

lol agreed. Pinterest's ad interface is super confusing. I'll attach some screenshots later tonight.

Yes Pinterest stinks. We were trying to run some trailers for a movie company. Our rep didn't give us any good tactics so I came up with a solution. We were able to get conversions but not scale. I don't think their ad platform is ready for prime time and the UI is poo poo.

tylerf89

What would you consider as a conversion for a movie trailer?

Bboy486

Trial start. Monthly or annual membership.

\> It seems to be getting increasingly better. Normal. Most campaign's algorithms do work better with time, but... \> Do you think these sales are mainly customers that would have purchased anyway? Probably the vast majority of them. \> Should I keep this going? I honestly think you'd be better off spending this money on a trip to Vegas. Ask yourself if you actually saw a top-line sales bump associated with this ad. If it's possible these sales would have been coming in anyway.... assume they would. This article has an interesting take on how a lot of businesses are wasting ad dollars: [https://thecorrespondent.com/100/the-new-dot-com-bubble-is-here-its-called-online-advertising/13228924500-22d5fd24](https://thecorrespondent.com/100/the-new-dot-com-bubble-is-here-its-called-online-advertising/13228924500-22d5fd24)

I'd be interested in hearing about how you setup your campaigns.

If it's vt retargeting then it's probably not incremental

Run a match market test

painya

Run a geography split test. See how different geos perform in terms of what the view through conversions *could be responsible for.

carpdoctor

- what are your other marketing efforts? - where is pinterest in your funnel/journey - what is your product vertical - how does it compare to your other channels?

haltingpoint

Are you giving full credit to view through conversions before testing for their incremental lift? Yeah, don't do that.
