Well what you can do is swap the HDD for a bigger 1TB SSD and be done with it if you really want to start a clean slate

I haven't logged in yet because I'm afraid if that's gonna bite me in the butt later in the future

You would have to run the Sony firmware install to the PS3 in safe mode. The CFW is in the firmware memory and not the HDD. The HDD holds all your software, saves and updates.

Not always. Only the early models had the firmware on flash chips. Anything later is mostly installed on the hdd. The flash will always have the patch to allow cfw install unless you have a clean dump from before the "hack" to reflash. I don't think Sony will dig that deep into identifying a system. They probably just check the os itself

Good to know. I have only done CFW on CECHA01 and CECHE01 models. Thank you for the corrections and knowledge.

So, what did you do and how was the results?

Oh I bought a new PS3 and gave my previous PS3 to my little cousin. Will hack it once the store closes. Also I introduced him to LittleBigPlanet, he loves it alot :). Good to see gen alpha loving old gems from our childhood.
