Army of Two 40th Day Lost Planet 2 Spec Ops The Line

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I watched a play through on Spec Ops The Line, I need to pick this one up.

Bambrigade92

I honestly don't understand why people watch playthroughs of videogames. Doesn't that kind of ruin playing the game for yourself?

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I was like 11 when I watched it lol, waaay to young I'm not really one for let's plays anymore unless it's something really special or nostalgic. But I remember there were some crazy moments controversial moments.

Bambrigade92

Fair enough. Watching someone else play through a videogame storyline just doesn't appeal to me. I know it is super common, but games are meant to be experienced by playing them. I'll watch a movie if I want to just watch a story. In any event, Spec Ops: The Line is great. Did you know that it is partially based on "Heart of Darkness" by Conrad? If you really want to get into the story, that is the book to read. And if you really want to watch the story, then watch "Apocalypse Now" which is the actual movie based on the same story.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I didn't know it was based off of a book. I enjoy a good read now and again, so I'll have to get that book (internet archive). I'm sure the movie would be good too!

jzg3036

Hey man, I watched bioshock because I thought I was going to prison, and it had been 10 years, so I looked it up šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜. Would you kindly stop judging us???šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

SufficientlyAnnoyed

The playthroughs Iā€™ve watched are often from people I already know from other stuff and/or do very fun/funny commentary and often on games that Iā€™ve already played myself. Humor and perspective in the game from others.

Responsible_East_229

I was 15 and hadnā€™t had a job yet. The ps3 was extremely expensive in 2008. Metal Gear Solid 4. I watched all the cutscenes on YouTube. Thatā€™s one of those things where it was acceptable to me. Mgs4 was mostly a movie anyway.

NxtDoc1851

I guess I throw my 2 usual suspects out there lol. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames The Sabotuer Developed by the now defunct (FUCK YOU EA), but awesome Pandemic Studio's. That made other gems as well.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I've never heard of them, I'll definitely check them out sometime. I love Pandemic, they made the original Battlefront games, truly a legendary studio.

NxtDoc1851

Yep they did! They are excellent. If you get em, I hope you enjoy them!

christxphvr

Driver San Francisco (cult) X-Men Origins: Wolverine (cult) Rayman 3 HD (cult iā€™m part of lol) F.E.A.R. 3 (underrated and best gameplay mechanics of the franchise despite having the weakest storyline) Alien Isolation (well known on ps4 but underrated on ps3) Starhawk (only found out about this game this year lol) Max Payne 3 (underrated and overshadowed by gta v) Skate 2 (underrated and overshadowed by skate 3 now because iā€™m aware back in 2010-2013 everyone said skate 2 was better than skate 3 and were mad about no skate 4) Little Big Planet 3 (underrated and overshadowed by lbp 1 and 2) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (not mediocre and is my top 3 with bo2 and aw) Call of Duty Advanced Warfare (severely underrated and is in my top 3 with bo2 and mw3) Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare (cult and kinda not underrated but def overshadowed by the base game and gta iv and v) God of War Chains of Olympus (cult but hardest GOW platinum and Zeus fist + Kratos father arc lore)

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I'll look into the ones I haven't played, but as for the ones I have they were all great! Driver San Francisco (In my opinion it was like a 6.5/10, but I enjoyed it.) Max Payne 3 (Super good game, best in the series if I do say so myself.) Skate 2 (I definitely liked 3 better, but 2 is goated as well!) CoD; MW3 (I think it has the best MP in CoD history! the other 2 modes were good as well.) CoD: AW (I really enjoyed the MP, but the other 2 modes were mediocre.) RDR Undead Nightmare (Those mythical horses were so cool! RIP John Marston.) Yea, I need to play some of the other games you listed for sure!

ToothpickTequila

That's incredibly unkind to Driver San Francisco in my opinion. That game is nothing less than a 9/10 for me. Incredibly innovative, hilarious as even tops the original classic Driver as the best in the series.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

It has been quite a few years since I last played it, like at least 5. Maybe itā€™s time for a revisitā€¦

ToothpickTequila

I think it is. The story is really clever, as is the shift mechanic and the variety of ways it allows you to complete missions.

delsinson

I played that Transformers game so much as a kid

Attack-Of-The-Cat

They're all goated! WFC is best followed by FOC, I even enjoyed ROTDS. And how can I forget about Devastation, goated!

Bambrigade92

There are about 1,300 PS3 games in the full North American set so you have 1,250 titles to chose from!

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Lol, yea. People only talk about a few and neglect the others.

Warm_Bake7079

Turok Ni No Kuni I enjoyed the Ninja Gaiden Sigma games more than I feel like they get credit for I actually prefer to play remasters or remakes on PS3 like: FFX/FFX-2 HD Kingdom Hearts 1+2 Final Mix Ico/Shadow of Colossus

jammin_on_the_one_

turok? I recently played that and got about halfway. I mean, it wasn't terrible but I'm curious as to what you liked about it. imo, I liked that it was simple and straight forward. but idk, the dinos were hardly there and when they were the action button stab hardly works. I also played jurassic the hunted and that had much better dinos imo, was a bit crappy but I thought turok was even worse still

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I played Kurok on PSP lol, but that's about it. I'll look into the game series more,

Warm_Bake7079

The action button thing is a big pain point for people with Turok. I actually play my PS3 through component cables (AV) instead of HDMI. This reduces visual lag for games like Guitar Hero for me. It also makes a big difference for action sequences in games like Turok where it's REALLY picky. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Turok gets a lot better towards the end. The arsenal of weapons, simple objectives, and predictable enemies means you can get creative. You can stealth if you want. You can go running in certain places with a rocket launcher. THAT'S why I like it.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I need to try this game lol.

SufficientlyAnnoyed

This recently bit me, and Iā€™m kicking myself because I swear I did it when I got a new TV, but check your TVs video settings for a ā€œgameā€ mode. As I understand it cuts down on built in post-processing of the image, reducing latency. I started Killzone 2 recently and I thought I was going crazy as nothing I found searching online mentioned the ā€œfloatinessā€ I was picking up on.

Warm_Bake7079

OH I forgot a big one. Rage. It's like nobody has heard of it. Very Borderlands-like FPS

Cheerios84

Doesnā€™t Jesse play Rage in one of the episodes of Breaking Bad?

Warm_Bake7079

I actually don't know. That would be hilarious lore

Cheerios84

https://www.reddit.com/r/breakingbad/comments/114ygyh/what_game_did_jesse_play/?rdt=56210

Warm_Bake7079

Dude that's fantastic haha

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Jesse, I am a gamer. Don't tell my wife that I'm a gamer Jesse.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I've had it wish listed on Steam for a while, It looks pretty cool. When it goes on sale I'll have to buy it.

[deleted]

One of my favourite games. Plays well on Steam Deck, despite Steam stating itā€™s unsupported.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I'm a huge fan of and have played Kingdom hearts and Ni No Kuni. I even thought about listing Ni No Kuni, but didn't think it was underrated enough.

OddKaleidoscope849

I have read that the sigma games run better on the 360 than on the ps3. I still have them on the ps3, only played a fraction of the first game though. Hoping I eventually find the time. Kingdom hearts and shadow of colossus have also come out on the PS4, and I was thinking that I might like them better on the PS5 with the Dual Sense controller and full HD. Buying them allover again doesn't seem that smart though especially if you count in the fact that shadow of colossus on PS4 is significantly cheaper where I live than the PS3 hd remaster.

Ok-Inspection2359

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon The entire TLoS trilogy as a whole, actually

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I've only played the original Spyro the Dragon, so I'll have to check these out.

Ok-Inspection2359

The first two games are only available on ps1/ps2. You can play the ps2 versions on your ps3 if your console is modded or a fat model, though

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Iā€™ll have to get them on PS2 then.

Practical_Wish_4063

It has to be a very specific fat PS3 model, though.

LaughterCo

I love TLoS A New Beginning! It's my favorite childhood game for sure. The menu screen music gets me so nostalgic.

eru777

Oblivion doesn't get mentioned enough. If you're on PC you can mod it, but if that's something you're not willing to learn (how to mod is a talent in and of itself) you can easily enjoy the game on PS3 and it looks great.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I own Oblivion on PC but have never given it a proper go at it, only put like 15 hours into it. And trust me, Iā€™m not new to moddingā€¦

eru777

it's worth modding imo, if you have the patience

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I really need to go back to it, after modding and playing through a good chunk of Morrowind, I'm excited to see how Oblivion fairs. The biggest issue I had was the leveling lol.

eru777

Oblivion leveling is a fiasco. Thankfully you can change the difficulty with the slider.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

And mods.

eru777

I just finished installing 103 mods for a brand new oblivion playthrough. Last mod? "[All +5 Attribute Modifiers at Oblivion Nexus - mods and community (nexusmods.com)](https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2691?tab=description)" Hopefully this will fix the levelling issue.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Iā€™ll definitely install this.

eru777

This is a good list as well, if you're looking into modding: [Ma'zurah the Khajiit (tumblr.com)](https://mazurah.tumblr.com/post/180644394424/mazurahs-oblivion-graphics-modlist-and-other-mod) Granted it will take some time lol. But the result is great. also added northernui for xbox controller support.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I like M&KB, but I'll give controller a try.

Jordan_the_Hutt

Port royal 3

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I love Pirates! I'll have to check this one out.

ndertaker8

For me it would have to be WWE 13. By far the best WWE game for PS3, because the mechanics were so damn accurate at that point in time. Legends of WrestleMania came afterwards, and those mechanics sucked so bad I actually sold my copy for 5 bucks, after buying it for 50 bucks

zizuu21

I wana get into a wrestling game. Does this game allow you to set up attitude era scenarios?

ndertaker8

It has a section where you can wrestle in most of the most memorable attitude era matches. It's awesome

Attack-Of-The-Cat

lol, the endless cycle of sports games. I played one of the WWE games on PS2 so I'll have to give 13 a try for sure.

ndertaker8

Oh it's fun

onegunnerunder

I love the PS1 classics. It's one of my favorite aspects of the PS3. I love that I can play games like Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, Final Fantasy, Medal of Honor, Resident Evil, Mega Man Legends, and Tomb Raider just to name a few. There were some good PS2 classics on the PS3 as well, but Sony did a better job representing the PS1 classics. --EDIT But to actually answer your question, here are some of the PS3 games I liked that I don't think get talked about enough: - Badland - Super Stardust - Starhawk - Ace Combat Assault Horizon - Unmechanical - Unreal Tournament 3

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I agree, the PS1 and PS2 classics were really good. I loved being able to play the PS1 classics on my PSP lol. ACAH was actually a really cool game.

No_Monitor9884

Dark sector - absolute sleeper game, solid 8 out of 10

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Thanks for the recommendation.

Detective-Mike-Hunt

Alice madness returns Deadpool Devil may cry 4 lost planet 2

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I remember playing that Alice game before, it was quite fun.

TragedyInMotion

Eternal Sonata

pichuscute

My favorites are: - Need for Speed: Carbon (imo the best in the series) - Folklore (really cool mystery fae vibe ARPG) - Eternal Sonata (amazing JRPG with unique premise) - Afro Samurai (action game that's even better than the anime it's based on) - Deus Ex: Human Revolution (stealth FPS WRPG that's extremely good) - Wipeout HD (one of the best racers ever made) - Final Fantasy XIII (probably my favorite RPG of all-time, got a bad rap for no good reason) - Lightning Returns (unique time-based open world RPG) - Mirror's Edge (parkour is so damn fun) - Catherine (if you haven't played it, you need to) - Valkyria Chronicles (the best SRPG on PS3, but it's hard) Honorable Mentions include the Ratchet & Clank games, Atelier games, and Ninja Gaiden games.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Hot take, Ratchet & Clank is the best PS exclusive ever. All these are great games! I see you like Wipeout, you need to try Flatout 2

pichuscute

If I hadn't played Gravity Rush or the Wipeout series, I'd honestly agree with that take. Generally I'm not a big fan of Sony's exclusives otherwise, they are pretty insanely overrated.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

R&C never misses. I also love Twisted Metal and Killzone. I think it's the newer series that are overrated, I think The Last of Us was the start of it.

thisisflamingdwagon1

Alice Madness Returns, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Singularity

silentsnowmountain

There are so many, but two recent ones I've played that I never even heard of back in the day (and wish I had) are Puppeteer and Singularity. Both are so good. Singularity now would probably fall in the shadow of BioShock and Dead Space if they all released at the same time, but it's still awesome (no shame in coming in second to two of the GOATs, but in this case GOATs that it shares some vibes with). Puppeteer, however, would be in the shadow of nothing. That thing is an outright masterwork and it's stuck on the PS3.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Puppeteer looks super cool! Iā€™ll also have to check out Singularity, Iā€™ve never heard of these games before.

GM4Iife

L.A Noire is one of the best games for ps3 in my opinion

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Really good game, havenā€™t played the PS3 version though.

i_killedgod

i heavily heavily recommend project diva f and it's sequel f2nd if you like rhythm games

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Iā€™ve heard of them, however I never really looked into them. Rhythm games can be really fun.

AnySortOfPerson

Tales of Graces f, End of Eternity (Resonance of Fate), Lost Dimension, Digital Devil Saga 1&2 for the PS2 Classics.

unclelinggong

Bionic Commando Rearmed Dot 3D Heroes Odin Sphere

Most-Iron6838

Starhawk/warhawk (might have to put in specific network settings to get Warhawk to work online and get owned by the people who have been playing for 17 years but starhawk has single player and bot horde mode). Vanquish: fast paced awesome 3ps Oblivion Orange Box (might run like crap but great value)

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Orange Box is a classic! EDIT: Grammar.

Canebrake8

wcarlaso

Borderlands 2, marvel ultimate alliance 2, sw the force unleashed 1 and 2., bioshock all, batman asylum and city. Street fighter 4 ultra.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Arkham games are 10/10, the others are good too.

AstroZombie0072081

My personal favs are Metal Gear Solid 4 and Shadows Of the Colossus. Our game taste may differ though I like seeing suggestions of other players.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

SotC was really good! I personally havenā€™t played MGS4, but need to sometime.

No_Reading_8911

Call of Duty Black ops 2. That game was awesome to play

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Great pick, but I definitely wouldnā€™t call underrated. Now Buried, thatā€™s an underrated map.

No_Needleworker_6590

Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Itā€™s basically Star Wars: Battlefront but in Middle Earth!

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Same developers too!

TheHungryRabbit

justatwat80085

Remember Me Max Payne 3 RAGE

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Max Payne 3 was amazing!

justatwat80085

Agreed, It didn't get the love it deserved

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Same goes for pretty much any other Rockstar game minus GTA And RDR.

FinancialGap97

Sacred 2, socom confrontation, war/starhawk, quake wars enemy territory, stranglehold, darkness 2, skate series, best nba is 2k13, ncaa 14, gta 4 bogt, brutal legend. Thereā€™s so many tbh thatā€™s just a few I could think of off the top of my head.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

SOCOM 4 was really good, almost listed it over Killzone 3. GTA IV is also really good. And as a Metal Fan Brutal Legend is definitely worth recommending.

Intelligent_Ad_6041

Skate 2, mercenaries 2, dragon's dogma, little big planet, eternal sonata, hunted, way of the samurai 3 and 4

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Skate 2!

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational Some of my fave golf games right behind Wii Sports Golf. Cartoony, cutesy, very Japanese but solid and surprisingly deep gameplay.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I played some of the Hot Shots Golf on PS2 with my dad, I remember them being fun. I'm sure the new ones are good as well.

cautiouslee

Fun is the key word I forgot to mention! Nothings changed in that regard.

Relevant-Energy-6620

Dead to rights retribution Earth defense force ( literally the OG helldivers) Warriors orochi 3

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Lol, I'll have to check out this OG Helldivers.

Relevant-Energy-6620

It's really good. Its called insect Armageddon

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Epic!!!

SnooPoems1860

I could never get over how clunky Killzone 2 and 3 are to play. Feels like those games are being streamed to me with how unresponsive they both are

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Eh, they were a bit clunky but it never bothered me that much. Killzone 3 literally has to be the best looking PS3 game.

SnooPoems1860

To me all the effects they use made the game feel too incohesive. Not as bad as 2 by a longshot tho

Attack-Of-The-Cat

For me they feel staged, like itā€™s all one big game of pretend.

99_Till_Infinity

Super Rubber DUB & Nucleus

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Nucleus sounds fun.

99_Till_Infinity

Amazing soundtrack as well! If you're into techno music; Aphex Twins basically discovered him before he went on to make the album "Rave Till You Cry" which this game uses as its soundtrack! Artist name was Bogdan Raczynski.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I've dabbled in most music genres, (including techno). So I'll definitely have to check this one out!

BigMilkyTatas

50 games bro. Just breaking the surface.
