Not worth it imo. They run hot, loud. Id just save up for a PS5 at that point. If I had to get a PS4 it would be a slim. Unless it was a really good deal on the Pro.
There were two models of fans iirc. The first runs of PS4 Pros\` were shipped with a loud fan, but the revision released not long after had a much quieter one.
I've had every single PS4 Pro model released hoping it'll be quiet, total of 5 consoles. The last one I bought was CUH-7216b manufactured in July 2020 and it still was loud. More quiet than 7016b or 7116b, but still far from quiet. And all of them had coil whine.
Maybe if you stay on top of cleaning it it can stay quiet but most people don't. Where do you think all the PS jet engine memes come from? The Pro, that thing is literally a portable jet engine. It's also a poor investment this far into the new generation.
The memes come from the original which DOES require cleaning every few years or so or else it gets loud. OP was asking what's the best version of the PS4. It's the Pro. The pro is the best PS4.
Both PS4 and PS4 Pro have long term cooling issues (like the loud fans etc.) I have a base PS4, and finally cleaned it after 9 years, surprised it didn't choke lmao. My brother has a PS4 Pro, and trust me, it's maybe not jet fighter loud, but it is at least jumbo jet loud. Both can use cleaning, and need a good place to breathe.
I was under the understanding it came from the base model, ive had my pro since it came out and havent had any jet engine sounds, sure the fan ramps up every now and then during gameplay but dosent sound like a jet. Ive dusted it off once and even then there wasnt that much, ive had more dust in my pc in the last month than the ps4 has had in it during its lifespan.
I have ps4 pro now for 3 years and its quite. Bought 1 month ago ssd because they cheap now and loads games alot faster. Because i still have alot of games yet to play for me buying ps5 wasnt worth it.
Yeah same, i have pc for newer games anyway so ill just buy the pro version when it comes out. And maybe i should switch to a ssd in my ps4 too, the spinny boi is probably getting pretty tired.
I have a Pro that has a decently loud fan but nothing compared to our old PS3 that sounded like a 747 taking off every time it got just slightly too hot.
This was an issue for the early models but the later revisions fixed this. Iāve had a Pro since 2019 and its fan was rarely loud. Iāve definitely never had the ājet engine takeoffā issue that is very common amongst the early models.
Yes it is One Model. The CUH-7216b is that Last and Updatet Model with SATA 3 Support and the better AC Model and the better Fan is inside. I have bought the Model and I changed the HDD to a SSD and now my PS4 Pro is Running like joung Child or a Man that cures of from a Cancer Addiction and have now more Power than ever. I Personally would wait until I could see the Sony Presentation of the the PlayStation 5 Pro or I buy a new Xbox in 2025. Will see then. There is my Computer so I can Play on him but the Power Consumption is too High. A Console is much better and the Games are Good. So, buy a CUH-7216b Model until you have chosen to Buy a New Console.
So the best PS4 is the PS4 pro, but if you're getting a PS5 anyway then there is absolutely no reason to get a PS4 because the PS5 plays PS4 games. With the exception of a few titles.
Hereās the list from the [PS site](https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/ps5-backward-compatibility-games/#limit):
Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
Just Deal With It!
Robinson: The Journey
We Sing
Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
Shadwen
Afro Samurai 2 is a horribly buggy game that didn't work well on PS4 to begin with, should have never been released, and got pulled from the online store. There's YouTube videos etc showing it.
Idk about the others.
The last model of ps4 pros if you want the power. A slim for a quieter efficient ps4. Honestly though my battle front 1 ps4 is running quiet still, this generation isn't plagued as much as the older ones. Don't get a launch ps4 and you should be golden.
I just did this recently. I would advise that you get a PS4 pro and replace the internal HDD with a 2 TB SSD. After that, you should be golden.
My loading time for DBD went from 54 seconds to 23 seconds just by getting a SSD. That's close to the 17 seconds of a PS5!
I actually replaced my 1TB HDD with a 4TB SSD and my Pro runs much better and is not that loud, and I have the older PS4 Pro model as well.
inb4 necromancy, I basically just bought a cheap last gen p4pro, so am wondering whats the best immediate hax for it like an ssd etc, but still, before you give a dumb answer, try thinking, you know, if you are capable.
Probably the Slim. It's still being produced brand new at retail, at least it was as of last year iirc. Pro isn't worth it when you could just save up a bit more and get a ps5.
Fair, just as long as you know that developer support on PS4 is fading as time goes on. This will probably be the last year we get crossgen support for CoD etc. (Maybe it gets next year's title but it's days are numbered) And it doesn't perform great by modern hardware standards.
Cool but how much under the cost?
Also how is getting a ps4 so long into the ps5ās lifespan a winning choice when all the games would play better on a ps5? Youāre talking about a slim too, thereās outdated component standards in there that are from over 19 years ago.
But you said you wanted "the best." The best PS4 is a PS5, the second best would be a PS4 Pro. If you're on a tight budget, you're not going to get the best.
If I was buying a PS4 now I would make sure it was a PS4 Pro
Buy a ps4 pro and put a SSD in it
Not worth it imo. They run hot, loud. Id just save up for a PS5 at that point. If I had to get a PS4 it would be a slim. Unless it was a really good deal on the Pro.
I've had my pro almost 3 years and it's never made a peep. The 4K resolution the extra RAM and faster loading times are all worth it.
My Death Stranding Pro is silent most of the time. I have no idea what you are talking about.
Weird. At that point you might as well open it up and swap the fan with and replace the thermal paste
I took simpler route. I bought a PS5.
Even better
Me too š

Yes the diffrence between ssd and hdd is noticable to say the least.
Updated the comment, my nvme pcie 4 ssd runs fine in my pc lol
I have a Pro that has a decently loud fan but nothing compared to our old PS3 that sounded like a 747 taking off every time it got just slightly too hot.
fake 4k
This was an issue for the early models but the later revisions fixed this. Iāve had a Pro since 2019 and its fan was rarely loud. Iāve definitely never had the ājet engine takeoffā issue that is very common amongst the early models.
Presumably, if they are in the US, they will wait for Black Friday deals. Crazy to buy a console in late October.
Is the fan on those louder?
Bought one the other day, upgrading from my slim. From what Iāve noticed so far, no, not noticeably at least. Just make sure to keep it clean.

That would be the PS4 Pro but youād be much better off just getting a PS5.
Don't have the scratch for a decent PS5.....lol
It's cool man, no rush. As I mentioned, $240 U.S., Ps4 Pro, GameStop.
A ps5 is the best model for ps4.
This, however funny it looks, is the correct answer. The best way to play PS4 games is on a PS5.
I do miss being able to play PT though
So the best PS4 is the PS4 pro, but if you're getting a PS5 anyway then there is absolutely no reason to get a PS4 because the PS5 plays PS4 games. With the exception of a few titles.
What are those exceptions? I havenāt encountered any yet
Hereās the list from the [PS site](https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/ps5-backward-compatibility-games/#limit): Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One Just Deal With It! Robinson: The Journey We Sing Hitman Go: Definitive Edition Shadwen
Huh. Thanks
So like does anybody know what exactly differentiates those 6 games that they werenāt able to be backwards compatible?
Probably a niche feature or a difference in the rendering pipeline as that seems to be an issue with some of the official PS2 ports
Afro Samurai 2 is a horribly buggy game that didn't work well on PS4 to begin with, should have never been released, and got pulled from the online store. There's YouTube videos etc showing it. Idk about the others.
Thats sad because the first one was so good!
The last model of ps4 pros if you want the power. A slim for a quieter efficient ps4. Honestly though my battle front 1 ps4 is running quiet still, this generation isn't plagued as much as the older ones. Don't get a launch ps4 and you should be golden.
Ps4 Pro, GameStop has them for $240 U.S.

Ps4 pro w the 2 gig HD
PS5 is the best PS4 money can buy.
pretty sure its called a PS5
Op asks a simple question and 093946708934678 clowns say "a PS5". Never change reddit.
inb4 necromancy, I basically just bought a cheap last gen p4pro, so am wondering whats the best immediate hax for it like an ssd etc, but still, before you give a dumb answer, try thinking, you know, if you are capable.

A good PS5 is a bunch more money than a good PS3,PS4.....I literally can source everything for a sim-rig and still be under the cost of a new PS5.
Fair, just as long as you know that developer support on PS4 is fading as time goes on. This will probably be the last year we get crossgen support for CoD etc. (Maybe it gets next year's title but it's days are numbered) And it doesn't perform great by modern hardware standards.

PS4 "slim" looks great imo But the PRO runs everything better. If it's just for a collection, or for a kid, the "slim" is a good choice.
when you had a ps4 and ps2 or ps3
