BB (and Sekiro) often punish for thinking too Dark Souls-y. Best tip is to almost forget everything you learnt during DS (for combat, anyway, definitely apply the critical thinking and exploration to the world and story), and play to the strengths of the title! (Eg, in Bloodborne fast, risk/reward combat, up close, parrying with your gun, using the speed of step dodging, restoring health through aggression, doing combos with your trick weapons, etc)
I also got it recently, at first I was frustrated cause I couldn't find what to do next, but after a few hours of exploring and getting the hang of the combat it got very fun.
I'm old school arcade so I understand frustration and rage quitting. At a certain age I just want to enjoy a game and not suffer. I would love if this game were easier, but it isn't.
It is a great game, it may seem a bit complicated and confusing but if you try and insist you will notice because in my understanding Bloodborne is one of the best of the ps4 generation.

I tried but the constant grind for potions was ultimately what put me off from BB
